According to the daily mail reports today, Halaand’s agent Mino Raiola demanded Erling Haaland was paid Β£820,000 PER WEEK to join Chelsea, with a Β£34m agent’s fee AND a salary for himself in a Β£257m package. and that is why Chelsea turned to Lukaku which I think was a great decision. I really don’t think Haaland would fit Chelsea the way Lukaku fits. I have now seen why Chelsea avoids dealing with Mino Raiola, the guy is super greedy.

I would rather play these fixtures this early rather than play during the Christmas season. Teams are not sharp now and you need to face them early. That was what helped Liverpool in 2019/20 season. They have played all the key games early, and during the festive seaso were left with favourable fixtures. If we avoid defeat on Saturday, it means 4 out 6 points amd overall 7 out of nine, we are still good. And if we win, it will send a shockwave to our title rivals.

Nine,
Except we have to overcome United who is making a late challenge to steal Saul in front of our noses. but if Chelsea wants him, I trust Tuchel’s influence, and our exciting team who has more Spanish players than United, plus the city of London to sway the deal in our favour. He is an upgrade to Kovacic for me. the only thing that Kovacic doesn’t have in him is goals which Saul will bring. plus he is already a winner which will complement our already squad of winners. As for Kunde, I don’t think he is a pressing issue at the moment, given the emergence of Trevoh Chalobah. but if the club spots an opportunity for a lower price, then fair play to the club for taking that opportunity. but I can’t see Chelsea paying what Sevilla is demanding now and that is why the club is waiting late in the transfer market to make a take or leave it offer.

I can’t see this game ending 0-0, the talent at display and the number of attacking players on show will make 0-0 highly unlikely.

Rumours are that Chelsea are looking to make a bid to sign Saul on loan from Athletico Madrid. That is a good option to have, the man has enough experience, won Laliga, played CL finals, scores goals from midfield, and at 26 he is entering his prime. He is the perfect addition to our squad. I hope our club includes an option to buy him with reasonable fee.

Sean,
I think Liverpool have the best CB in the world in VVD, the best full backs in Arnold and Robertson, the best wingers in Salah and Mane. But Matip? am not sure. There will be a number of good battles all around the pitch. And i think both managers are tacticly astute. For me this game will be won or lost by tge number of individual errors each team makes. Both teams are balanced. Alonso and James are not that far behind. Jorginho and Kante are two of the best holding midfielders, if somehow Tuchel can find a way to accomodate Werner and Lukaku and overload the midfield, then Chelsea will have a chance. But playing Liverpool when they are on their game is not easy, because you don’t know what you will get. You know what you will get against City and can prepare for, what you can get agsinst United. But with Liverpool, you never know what you will face. But i trust Tuchel, he is one of the best coaches in Europe.

I would take a draw if we are not good enough, because it’s better than a defeatπ. But at this moment, i’m not keen on a draw. Liverpool is one of the best teams in the world and Klopp is one of the greatest managers in the world. So a draw with them is not that bad. But i still would be keen to see Chelsea have the belief that we can win the game and not sit back.
Granted that Liverpool has the fire power and pace upfront, we are also good in that deparment this season. Lukaku and Werner up top would be a nightmare for any defence with pace and power. We also have Ziyech one of the most creative midfielders in the PL. Add that to Mount who is one of the best box to box midfielders at 22. With our strong midfield also great. Alonso and James can match Arnold and Robertson. Liberpool’s wingers are a class above ours, their CBs? VVD is a class above our defenders, but i’m not sure if Matip is anywhere near Rudiger. And you have Azpi? The game is evenly balanced and any team can win. Although Liverpool has a slight advantage by virtue of being the home team, with the crown behind them.

I would want us to go there with the intention of winning the game. Liverpool is a very tough match, but they are bot unbeatable. We can beat them if we get right. I would love us to go two up top and play Werner alongside Lukaku. They could compliment each other. One has pace and the other has power. In the middle i would play a flat 3 midfield trio of Kovacic, Jorginho and Kante. I would select the same back 3 and wingbacks for this game due to fitness as Chilwell hasn’t played a game since 29 May. That team would give Liverpool a run for their money.

Personally, i thought his post match interview was fine and there was no display of arrogance. If he used that dominant word just in a normal context. But people have only picked that word for criticism.

Probably yes, what else could we describe. The fact that we are discussing about his post match interview and not his match performances says a lot.

To be honest Nine, Lukaku is not an English native, may be he wanted to say excellent and got dominant instead. I don’t think Lukaku was using that dominant word in a bragging manner. The reported asked him a question that he wasn’t prepared for, and him being non English speaker thought that word as the right word. I watched his post match interview, and it was fine.
May be many rival fans may feel belittled by his performances. He was calm in the interview never shown any drama. And after all, it good to show some confidence. All the top players except Messi has that arrogance in them. I don’t know why we should hold the Chelsea players in a different standard.

There is nothing wrong with saying his performance was dominant. He didn’t mean it in a bragging manner. And i don’t know why should people be concerned about that. Unless that word is taken out of context.

Iβm happy for Lukaku, today was the perfect day for him. all the vultures were circling around to put pressure on him. but thankfully by opening his account on his debut, he has avoided the Werner, Torres curse which was waiting for their first goal for a few games. by hitting the ground running, he will have less press negative. I was also pleased with the clean sheet. although Arsenal was poor, our defence hasnβt given them any sniff. and credit goes to the boys. and Reece James, I love his goal celebration. anyway, our biggest test comes next weekend. let us hope we donβt lose that game.

I personally think United are the favourites to wim this PL season. Because they had been improving in the last two season. Theybhsve goals and assists everywhere in the team. They have what Chelsea, Liverpool and City doesn’t have which is Bruno Fernandez who scores from central. They have Pogba who despite getting unfair criticsm is a creative player and can score from midfield. They have Sancho and Rashford out wide and M. Greenwood waiting in the wings. Their defence is solid. And most importantly they have Ferguson in the background to advice.π what more proof do you need?

I hope we are not stupid to consider selling Zouma to Spurs. I remeber the Modric saga. They are the last team i would ever consider selling a virus let alone a top CB who not only can defend but can also score. For me that is a no go area. Spurs, Everton are the two teams i would hate to see us sell players to, even if we don’t want those players.
There are rumours that Kunde’s release clause will increase there the transfer deadline is near. They say it will be Β£77m, i can’t see Chelsea paying that amount after the emergance of Trevoh Chalobah. I suspect we will put a take or leave bid in the coming days to test their resolve.

Ed,
People have that horrible pundit they dislike. for the I’m not the biggest fan of Owen Hargreaves. for me he doesn’t make any sense when he is in the studio, he often likes to take a dig at the clubs, rather than give his insight. I happen to like Souness, I understand he sometimes goes overboard, but his insights are good when his head is in the right place.

Nine,
I see no reason why we should go for Kunde we already have the man in our books. he is called Trevoh Chalobah. he is two positions in one. he can also play in the CDM as well as the RCB. so I can be a cover for both Rice and Kunde. I suggest we turn our focus elsewhere in the squad. for example, a goal-scoring midfielder who is also creative._____________________________

Steveo,
I don’t disagree with much of what you say, except that when Wenger left Arsenal they were in a good position both squad and financially. much of the injuries that Arsenal as a club has suffered has been self-inflicted. and I would point an accusing finger to Arteta because he is the biggest culprit. although both Unai Emery and Wenger may take some responsibility. the only regret that Wenger could have was that he didn’t tie Sanchez who was Arsenal’s equivalent to what Hazard was to Chelsea to a long term contract. and since then Arsenal has failed to replace him. At least Chelsea has indirectly replaced Hazard.
Now Arsenal has a tough decision to make, even if they sack Arteta now, no big-name manager would risk their reputation in the middle of a season, so they would have to stick with Arteta, but how much more injuries can he inflict on the club until now and the end of the season? even the next manager needs a huge investment and time. ok, Arsenal would guarantee time and patience, but can they guarantee a huge investment?
