I reckon itβll be wrapped up with games to spare
This will be over very soon
If the Liverpool players had the attitude of a number of Liverpool fans on here then yeah it will be.
How about you stop wallowing in self pity and get behind the team?

Sean, I’m not saying we were good the last two games, in fact we were pretty awful. But I disagree with those who are all doom and gloom. We are a good team and having a good season, and we are in a good position, could be better, could be worse. We are poor at the moment but it wasn’t that long ago when we blew Arsenal away with some great play. It will come back, I’m sure (fairly sure anyway!).
We don’t have much quality in depth, that is being shown now as injuries and illness is taking its toll. Having said that when City had their little blip wasn’t a few top players out too? So a blip can happen to anyone. Let’s just hope ours is coming to an end eh?

I think injuries/illness to 3/4 (plus 1st choice replacement CB) of the back line might have something to do with it. Even if you have the most perfect tactic/set up in the World missing those players would have an effect.
Or are you suggesting something else? Sounds like you think our first 20 games were flukes and now we have resorted back to type?

We weren’t pretty average, we were pretty good. People compare to last season by looking only at the attacking side whilst ignoring the facts that at the back we were pretty terrible at times. In an ideal world we would have last seasons attack with this seasons defence but that is not going to happen. Our style has change but overall the team is much better than last season hence why we are top.
I don’t get this “the defence bailed us out”. No, the team was set up to defend better. The play style evolved to produce better results. A defence cannot bail a team out over half a season.

Is this the same “super computer” that predicted Liverpool would win the league with 106(!) points, ahead of City on 97, as long ago as the 29th December?
Or is it a rival super computer?
For your information I’ve done the calculations on a post-it using a circa 2003 Casio calculator and have come to the conclusion that I don’t have a clue how the season will end.

The standard Liverpool set in those 20 games was unbelievable, best in their history. Unfair for any fan fan to expect it to be maintained all season.
Wasn’t that long ago when City were having a blip and questions being asked if they could keep up. Form comes and goes, I still expect more twists to come.

In the last ten games City have dropped 12 points, whilst Liverpool have dropped 7. City have lost to 3 of the teams outside the top 6, Liverpool have drawn against 2.
There’s a long way to go and Liverpool, City and Spurs will most likely drop more points. Even the lead at the top may change a little. But all this “City will run away with it now” or whatever makes me think if you can’t handle competition then maybe you should try watching a different sport, or at least grow up a little and stop crying.

That’s a good point Nine about City’s last game that I was going to make, everyone is going on about Liverpool’s supposed bad form but City were very lackluster against Newcastle (first half anyway, did’t see the second). No team is fantastic every single match, or has the right to win every match, not even City last season.
It’s all to play for. Some are convinced City will win, I’m sure there are people that are convinced Liverpool will win. I’m convinced the title is far from being settled and will take each game as it comes and enjoy the ride. 5 points isn’t a great deal, but I’d still rather being in Liverpool’s position than City’s or Spurs.

Not seen a lot of Chelsea so Nine please correct me if I’m wrong but isn’t Sarri playing a very Italian slow paced tippy tappy with with all the time in the world on the ball kinda tactic? And that he’s been found out? Put a player on Jorginho and stop him playing his trillion passes per game.
Will he be gone if he doesn’t get top 4? I’d say likely then Chelsea have to restart all over again.

Nine if you retro ban every player that us fans would probably agree has cheated you’d never have any players left! They already retro ban blatant dives and we see less of those now, but the clever ones aren’t banned and in fact are sometimes praised in the media as “being clever”
Think it’s time to accept cheating is part of the game and despite the fact every team does it we’ll all use it to beat each other with in the tribalistic manner we are accustomed to. The situation has gone to far to be fixed in my eyes.

Great result for Liverpool last night but I’m pretty sure Klopp will ignore it and focus the players on one game at a time. 7 points (if that happens) is a decent lead but all it can take is a couple of defeats for Liverpool and the gap is almost gone. Time to celebrate is 7 points clear with 2 games left!
Only saw the first half of Newcastle-City last night, but City to me looked off the pace a little. Not as intense as usual.

Ed, Mourinho had the media and fans praising his deflection techniques especially in his Chelsea days. They play bad, he makes the story about him not his players. Same as what Poch has done now.
In a time long before Man Utd, Mourinho was, unbelievably I know, liked and respected by some. And he did ok by all accounts.

Isn’t Poch just saying something controversial to deflect attention from his underperforming players? Something Mourinho often did and was lauded for. Judging by this forum it’s worked!

Forgot about Cruyff. I’m not that knowledgeable on him but heard that not only was he responsible for revolutionising Barca’s play but pretty much set the foundations for the modern game style of play. Wasn’t a bad player either…
Read something today about Pep, I don’t know enough to comment but maybe some of you can, in that he has never bought a player that has gone on to be one of his main men. That all his star players were inherited, and that his transfer record isn’t actually that good.

Think there are many shouts for GOAT but I can’t include Pep in that. He has won leagues but He has always had to biggest resources in each country he’s managed in. He is meeting expectation, to go beyond that he either needs to dominate for longer or pick up a few European cups. Certainly getting to a league cup final whilst having unlimted funds does not warrant the title!
The greatest domestically is Fergie as he dominated for so long. If he added more European success then there would be no argument. Paisley dominated Europe so I can understand if someome suggested him. Greatest achievement was Clough winning with Forest. Shouts also for Shankly and Busby for leaving legacys.

“β¦β¦..As I said earlier hand out retrospective bans and it will all but disappear from the game within months.”
Nine, but where to draw the line? Sure we all accept that going down as if shot by a sniper is worth a retrospective ban, heck even the FA do! But take Salah’s recent situations, the Palace one I say was a deliberate attempt to con the ref albeit there was contact, but the Brighton was genuine although I’ve seen many disagree. These more debatable ones will surely cause a lot of problems, with counter claims by players and teams etc.
But what about feigning injury? Surely that is worthy? And the “dark arts”? Where do we stop banning players? Will there be anyone left to play?

Nine, no one has been calling any player out, well except for yourself with Salah on the first page. We are discussing possible future actions, consequences and where it all might end up.

The thing is Nil, if they use VAR to review acts of cheating on say PSG vs Real the game would go on for about a day and a half!
I would like to see more retrospective action, but not just with Tom Daley dives, but any form of cheating. So yes, Ramos or Neymar, give them with match bans for bringing the game into disrepute. Sadly this won’t happen however, it’s not in the authorities interest to ban all these top players.

Not sure this is a discussion that needs to go down the faith/religion route to be honest.
My opinion, all players cheat. And I mean all, every single one of them in the premier league. Whether it’s a blatant dive for a pen, waving an imaginary card at the ref or holding their face when someone brushed against their arm, or simply claiming a throw in knowing it them last, to me it’s all cheating.
But are we all just hypocrites that just use the cheat term as a form of tribal attacks against each other? How many times have we claimed a corner either playing or watching knowing it obviously wasn’t? I know I have. We all love to say a rival player is a cheat but we celebrate our own playing “winning” a penalty by foul means. I saw on another thread Adlab list players from other teams that cheat yet omitted city players, saying Sterling sometimes goes down easily! Classic example of tribalism blindness.
I can live with what we have in the Premier League. It’s far from perfect but it’s gone too far to go back. But what I don’t want to see is what you get from players like Neymar, Ramos, Pepe etc, constant cheating to gain whatever advantage they can. I said after the PSG vs LFC game if that was the way football is heading then I will walk away from it. If a European super league ever happens I fear this will be the norm.
