Sounds like another stepping stone to the inevitable elitest European Super League for the already super rich and super powerful, where we can all pay obscenely expensive TV subscriptions to watch Neymar and co rolling around every week. If this happens I’ll join you Chucky in hanging up my jersey, if I indeed had one.
But going back to what you wrote, are you saying that it will just be the same participants every year, based on how successful/much money they can make at the moment? So the rich get richer and the poor, well who cares about the poor right? Read somewhere something about promotion and relegation, and weekend matches, but surely that is a step some time in the future towards to the inevitable?
If they are going to do it historically I think they should not be so selective on the era, so that England’s four representatives will be Liverpool, Man Utd, Nottingham Forest and a toss of a coin between Chelsea and Aston Villa.

Sean, you mean it looks like City might get over 90 points and finish second

“but it will be interesting to see what the season average was between City and Liverpool .”
Not really, the figures will not be a true reflection on the actual attendance as season ticket holders are counted whether they go or not. And not just City, all teams do it that I think, or at least Arsenal do when people questioned their empty seats. So when they say the stadium was 98% full but my eyes tell me probably around 60% I know which to believe!
Not having a dig at City, more of a dig at the way football has become.

I hope Utd dont appoint Ole. Why? Because he’s a nice likeable guy and that confuses me when I think of Utd. Why oh why did you have to fire Jose? Match made in heaven! ?
Heard that VAR was missing from Swansea because it’s only at premier league grounds in the FA cup. I guess one argument is that it should be universal for all teams in the same competition but the flip side is can you really implement it in round one when tier 5 and 6 are playing?

Would live to see a Manchester derby, pretty sure that’s never happened before in Europe.
Porto and Ajax are the obvious choices of most but teams would need to avoid complacency against those two.
Whilst City are most people’s favourites I have a feeling its Juve’s turn. Ronaldo is just a freak especially in the champions league and they have an experienced defence.
Juve vs Barca and City vs Utd would be nice. Any of the others for Liverpool.

Good post Sean. I hate the term “bottle it”, to me it’s either lazy journalism to create headlines or used as a stick by rival supporters to beat each other with. If Liverpool finish behind City this season it’s simply because City were better over the course of the season, nothing to do with bottling it.
Some of the reaction of Liverpool supporters after the Utd draw was crazy. I’d say they are the ones “bottling it”, not the team.

Hightown, sounds good but as you said Germany is a massive country and I’m on the other side. At the moment I’m about 1 hour south of Dortmund so if they upset the odds and we draw them then I could take up your offer. Moving to Cologne in a few weeks but I can’t see them or Leverkusen making Champions League soon (FC KΓΆln in the 2nd tier at the moment!).
I’m told Munich is a great city although I’ve never been. Bit pricey for Germany but still probably cheaper (and better) beer than the UK!

For the first pen I’m not sure what else Otomendi could of done, seems like he tried to move his arm behind his back to avoid giving a pen. Second I thought was one of those that could of gone either way, although I read Sane was offside anyway but VAR didn’t pick it up.
2-3 is a great result for City but it would be foolish of them to think the tie is over. I think Pep will still need to send out a strong side for the second leg.

Adlab, I live in Germany, my girlfriend is German, most of my colleagues and friends are German, so kindly keep your racist views and language to yourself and off a football forum.

Ireland is a funny case with nationality even without considering football. You can go back 2 generations as long as one grandparent had Irish nationality at the time of your birth. Hell even I have an Irish passport! It’s my Brexit contingency plan (i was born in Northern Ireland so eligible for British and Irish passport).
Think I read somewhere because of the 3rd generation thing that Ireland has a footballing pool of about 120 million due to most of the East coast of the USA being of Irish decendency.

“Itβs got to come down to the nation that you feel βhomeβ to.”
Exactly this. Well to us supporters anyway, might be different to pros that might see one country further their career prospects rather than another.
I think the football way, whilst not perfect, is certainly better than some other sports. Take athletics, when you have many African runners not good enough for their national team switch their “nationality” to other nations where they are no 1 in the team. (I thought about doing this when I was a bit of a sprinter in my younger days, as I noticed I was faster than the Cook Islands 400m runner at the Olympics!).
I don’t understand why someone would abuse a player about switching nationality. Football really does bring out the worst in people unfortunately.

Didn’t watch the game but what I’ve read is that it was typical PSG, as in rolling around and cheating at all opportunities. I watched our two games against them earlier in the season and came away feeling that I had been cheated of the entertainment that a football match brings if that makes sense. They are anti football in my eyes.
Horrible team, I would actually hope Utd win and that takes a lot for me to say! Looking like a difficult task now and I’m sure they will be even worse at their place. Shame, as they have top players and don’t need to resort to such antics.

Sean you’re spot on there, Jorghino is great at racking up 300 pointless passes per game but he compromises Kante and as you say he’s the best DM there is. It’s been mentioned a few times but Sarri continues with it.

Was about to post something saying can never say it’s game over at two nil then Barkely has a brain fart. This could be embarrassing for Chelsea.

Oz, of course City have the better depth, they have the better resources (fairly or not is a debate for another time and place!) and have used it very wisely. Between 2010 and 2012 Klopp’s Dortmund team had a similar situation of being against a Bayern team that could just buy all their rivals top players, and yet he still beat them. His quote about the bazooka and Robin Hood is one of my all time favorites of his (along with the “fits our team like an arse in a bucket”!!)
Football is going, or maybe already has gone, the way that money is the only way to success. But sometimes there’s a chance when the odds can be upset. Klopp said early on in his LFC career that he needed to turn doubters into believers. If we don’t believe, what’s the point of watching?
I’m not saying LFC will win, I have no idea. I’m certainly not one of those that will sing “we’re going to win the league” a few games before. I hope we will continue to fight however and be in the mix till the end. I believe we can.

Ok mate, lets leave it as it is. Hopefully by the end of the season the pessimists are pleasantly surprised rather than the optimists being disappointed.

Not sure anyone can argue with someone if he puts his believes down to being cursed, especially when “there’s no doubt about it” that Klopp will leave Liverpool empty handed. May as well give up now and not even bother with the next few season right?
I don’t mean to cause offence to either you or Oz but that sounds pretty pathetic.
Your reasons for not winning are very weak Sean. The last 2 times a team 1st at Christmas that hasn’t won it is Liverpool. So what? Different team, different players, different time. Makes not one bit of difference. Only thing that is constant is the supporters. The finals, all in the past and all but one Klopp’s team was the underdog. Makes no difference to the title run in at all.
We’re all entitled to our opinion, and the World would be pretty boring if we all had the same, but I’m sick of reading all these “City will run away, this is a fact” or “No doubt about it now, City are Champions” bullsh*t posts. It’s actually pretty boring now, it happens every time Liverpool drop a point or 3. Seriously you need to stop feeling sorry for yourselves and start to enjoy the competition. That’s what is is, a competition, which no one at the moment can be sure of the winner. We have a chance however, I’ve no doubt about that.
