A couple of points, first of all we could never afford him as an impact sub and he would never move unless first choice. Secondly and probably more relevant, we are a better team without him. Sure, occasionally he would score a worldie or open up the defence with great skill but over the course of a season the team performs better without him. In my opinion he makes our centre too soft and open to exploit if played in the midfield three.

I think getting Ox back and hopefully Naby up to speed will have a more positive impact on next season than if Coutinho returned.

Nil, I’m currently on holiday so having a bit of a break from football discussions or the girlfriend will not be too pleased but I’ll join in when I’m back home.

Theres a lot of hype about de Ligt and it looks like many are falling for it, but how many have seen him play regularly? Didn’t he get bullied by Llorente in the semi final? He probably has got potential but for me Gomez is the more developed defender and would rather he was VvD long term partner.

Nil, no one is forcing you to watch anything, just take a break and come back for the new season. Personally I have zero interest in the Nations League so have not followed it one bit.

Most fans love transfer rumours, and they sell papers or gain clicks. They ever go away during the off season so just dont buy the paper or click, simple. Most are made up anyway.

Adlab if UEFA wanted an ad for the premiership I’m sure they’ll commission a City game vs one of those teams that likes they tummies tickled just to show all those tippy tappy passes you lot do. But this is top end competitive football, sometimes it goes like this.

Moos explain why it wasn’t a pen? Come on give us an actual opinion!

Jesus this is bad. If either team plays like they can and the other plays at this level they’ll run away with it by 4 goals.

Scoring so clearly can cause a false impression of the game. One goal can be wiped out in a moment. Hope the team plays as ifs it’s still nil nil.

Haha Adlab if City ever make a final you could list off 4 or 5 players!

Like others on here hope it’s a good clean game and whoever wins it wins it on merit. Both teams have had an unbelievable journey to the final and its unfortunate that one will go home disappointed tonight.

Looking forward to tonight, still can’t believe it’s in Baku! Feel sorry for all those fans who not only paid a lot to get there but probably had a pretty poor experience in getting there.

Hope Arsenal win, with out disrespecting the Chelsea lads on here of course. I just like the idea of 5 English teams in the Champions League next year, plus Arsenal fans I am sure will be cheering us on come Saturday so why not return the gesture. Also, I just like them a bit more.

Will Kante be fit? Will he be risked? Hell of a player and finals should have the best players available to play but they need to be able to play their best. No clear favorite in my opinion, I fancy a score draw then Cech to be the hero with the penalties.

Liverpool actually had the 3rd highest possession in the league this season, behind only Chelsea and obviously City.

More goals from midfield is always good and hopefully Ox and Keita can provide that but I disagree that Liverpool don’t dominate midfield enough. The way they hound, stop the opposition, cover our rampaging full backs and start attacks for our free scoring forwards do our thing tells me they do dominate. If we were dominated often we wouldn’t of accumulated 97 points.

I think it’s fashionable for fans to knock Liverpool midfield because they don’t play that many pretty triangles and one twos in the middle but instead use their physicality and intensity. It’s our style, and it works.

Fekir is a no 10, not a midfielder for a 433. If we got someone like him it would mean a formation change. As I said Klopp did this for a bit to shoehorn Shaq into the team but for the second half of the season reverted back to his trusted 433. If Klopp continues with 433 I can’t see space for Fekir unless Salah or Firmino is sold.

I’m a little skeptical about this injury thing, I think it was more of “Oh, Alisson is now available lets buy him and the much cheaper Shaqiri for the AM role rather than blow it all on Fekir”.

For the more advanced midfielder in a 433 we have Hendo, Ox and Keita, sure that is enough. If we got another, will they be happy? Or do we sell one or two of them?

Agree Mak, Fabinho has been great once he got used to the system. So calm with the ball and in the right position without it.

The playmaker always comes up when discussing what Liverpool need, but do we really need one? The vast majority of our creative play is done by the fullbacks and to play that way you need a very hard working set of midfielders, something Liverpool have. This season there hasn’t been that many situations where we’ve looked lacking in creativity, although I can understand if someone says one would be good to mix things up if plan A isn’t working. But isn’t that what Shaq is for? And can we advocate spending a lot on a plan B?

I often see on “that other site” that we need to replace Coutinho but I like to point out we are a far superior team now than when we had him. I’ve also read that we would of won the Leicester game for example if we had him in the team. Why? What’s to say he would of made any difference? Maybe he would have made our centre softer and more susceptible to the counter attack and instead of 1 point we got zero. (I’ve given up arguing on that site but thought it’s relevant to his topic to mention)

I agree we need more depth up front and whilst I think the wide areas are straight forward to find someone for it’s the forward position that’s tricky. We do not play with a traditional no 9, if we did I would suspect a change to 4231 which Klopp tried for a bit but has reverted back to the 433. It would also hamper our main goal threats, and massive threats they are as indicated by the golden shoes, of Mane and Salah, as everyone would be trying to occupy the same space.

Saw the name of GΓΆtze mentioned recently and I thought that might actually not be a bad idea. He has regained fitness and form but BvB have just bought T. Hazard and Brandt so maybe he would be available and he can both play the Firmino or the Shaq creative role. Hard worker too and Klopp loves him.

Of course we deserve it, so do Spurs. Both played good football to get to the final and showed a lot of fight to overcome difficult situations. The only finalist I can think of that don’t deserve to win are teams like Greece when they bored everyone to their Euros victory, or maybe Porto when they fell over and rolled around to their Champions League triumph.

Liverpool don’t really do normal, comfortable final victories. Think vs Man Utd in the 2003 League Cup was the last, all the rest have been rollercoaster nail biters. Hope the final does justice to what has probably been the best Champions League campaign that had many memorable matches.
