If City are on another level then it is only a tiny little 1 point size step away from Liverpool.
I agree with Sean that if we lose 2 of our front 3 we are considerably weaker, but I think you could say that about any team, even City. Lose Aguero and Sterling and what they stick in Jesus and Marhez, that’s a big drop despite how much they cost.
We maybe should of bought a young up and coming player for the LB position but maybe Klopp thinks we already have that in Larouci. Klopp has a reputation of developing what he already has rather than buying someone new.
LD is right in my opinion, just because you don’t “strengthen” doesn’t mean you are weaker. The team is older, 1 year more developed in Klopp’s ways, they keep the team unity that comes when successful.
The most important thing for Liverpool was to keep their main players and they did that. I really don’t understand the fuss that is made because we didn’t buy anyone. Sometimes people just want to buy for the sake of buying and better if it’s a nice expensive signing, who cares how he will fit in the team!
Arsenal and Utd are totally different, they are playing catch up, and it’s a big gap! The season will dictate if they bought wisely or not. The gap may be smaller this season but doubt it will be small enough to worry last season’s top two.

So it seems the general consensus is that Utd are crap, Chelsea are crap and Arsenal are Arsenal, surely this must be the best chance for a team like Wolves or Leicester to gatecrash top 4? Would like Wolves to do it, enjoy their style of play and Neves looks like a player that could shine in the Champions League.

Liverpool poor in the first half with the midfield second best and the defence looking a bit jittery. Good close range save by Adrian stopped a deserved lead being taken by Southampton. But sometimes the top teams are poor but get a goal because they process that extra bit of quality and Manes goal was quality.
Hopefully Klopp will do something at half time to gain control of the midfield.

Watching the Liverpool match as its live on sky over here. If, and it’s a big if, I can wriggle myself out a social meeting my girlfriend arranged. This may take some negotiating skills…

There’s a clip of it on the Liverpool Echo daily blog. Seems after the game there was a small pitch invasion and the fan was running towards the players with a steward in tow and slipped into them. What a prat, guess he won’t be too popular at his local LFC pub next time if it ends up costing the team points!

Looks like Adrian is a doubt, something about a fan kicking/standing on his ankle?!
I might turn up maybe I’d get a chance in goal!

“First point to clear up: The reason why I supposedly ignore comments is simply because it causes a disruption to the thread”
Your rants cause disruption to the thread. I’ve actually been a member of this site from probably near the beginning but I didn’t post for a long time because all I could see when I logged on were your rants. Now suppose someone comes across this site on Wednesday and takes a look. They won’t see “Football debate, only better”, they will see your rants and probably move on. Not good.
“(If anybody has an issue with my comments, I would suggest they can contact me via email through Ed).”
Everyone has problems with your comments, they have told you already, you sound like you are in denial.
Mak made some good suggestions in his post above. I don’t know your personal state of mind, it’s none of my business, but if it sounds like you could need help then the first thing is that you need to want it. And before that you need to acknowledge to yourself there’s a problem in the first place.
I don’t want this to sound like a vendetta against you, I’ve mentioned before that not during match day, and maybe whilst sober, your posts are interesting. You’ve apologised, I think it’s fair to say most on here took it with a pinch of salt, now lets see if you can back up that apology by behaving in a way fitting for this forum.
Enough from me on the matter, lets get back to football issues.

Nil best way to both show your apology is sincere and you are ready to move on is by proving it in reality. I think my suggestion you have a break from the forum during matches might do you the world of good. Post the next day with a clearer head.

Mak, I should of rephrased it, technically in accordance to the rule book VAR did its job. I agree with you the decision was wrong and VAR should of prevented it but as the evidence was inconclusive then it cannot overturn the decision the ref.
Has there ever been a more contentious addition to the game than VAR?!

Mak, don’t agree that the pen wasn’t over-ruled because the ref was a woman and they were on some sort of mission not to contradict her. That would be foolish if they did as impossible to hide and would have the inverse effect of what they would be wanting to achieve.
The VAR video was inconclusive and I believe if that’s the case then they cannot over-rule the ref’s decision, think it states this in the rule book. My first opinion was no pen, and I maintain that now, but VAR actually did it’s job.
It was one incorrect decision, and one many refs would call, in an otherwise very good performance from the ref. My only gripe would be the offside calls seemed to take ages, maybe that’s a new policy?
Chucky, we all know you’re still upset about that final. Truth is, even without our perfectly good penalty we still scored another goal to your grand total of zero. π

Unlucky Nine and the other Chelsea lads on here. Tough game for both teams. Didn’t agree with the pen but Chelsea didn’t deserve to lose 2-1. Kante best player on the pitch.

Nil never understand why you rant about someone hating liverpool just because he’s doing what he’s paid for and competing against us.
Maybe you should step away from the forum till the day after a match, give yourself an opportunity to post in an intelligent and fair way we all know you can. These rants do you no favours.

Ox in for Firmino so either Salah or Mane up top. Matip for TAA so Gomez at right back. Milner straight swap with Gini.
Be interesting to see how this forward line works. Could it be Gini up top and Ox into the middle 3?

So if TAA is miles off, then who is the best? Must be many in front of him.
We all know TAA can’t defend that well, and I think for most teams that would be a big problem. But in this Liverpool team it’s set up so that it isn’t. For our system there’s not another right back in the world I would take over him at this moment, so looking at this question as a LFC fan to me he is the best.
Did a quick Google search for a few publication’s opinions and saw names such as CΓ©sar Azpilicueta, Joshua Kimmich, Kevin Trippier (!), and even the BVB veteran Εukasz Piszczek mentioned, along with TAA. So looks like Ed is right, there’s not a lot of quality out there.

just 18? Pah, an oldie! We have Elliot in our squad and he’s barely out of nappies!
Yes Nil, 20:00 BST, Wednesday. I think for you UK people it’s on BT.

Ed, I got your point. But where as the full back for top teams has evolved into a potent attacking force and not much of a defender, maybe us fans still see them as they were 10 years ago. All the ones you mentioned were much, much better defenders than TAA*, but could they actually attack as good as him? Debatable. I think the all out attacking full back still sits uncomfortably with us fans.
*Exception was Carlos, but I read once that the full back position in Brazil was always highly regarded as an attacker first, defender second.

“No disrespect to Robertson and Trent but are they really the best full backs in the world?”
Question is, who else is there to consider? I couldn’t think of anyone that stood out. Also would depend on how the team plays, I’m pretty sure TAA would struggle if his main job was to defend.
My team may seem a little biased towards Liverpool but I guess we ain’t European Champions for nothing eh?!

Alisson
Taa Koulibaly VvD Robertson
Kante
B.Silva De Bruyne
Salah Messi ManeRonaldo a little too old to make the team and in a years time I think Messi will struggle to make it. Mbappe was difficult to leave out but at the moment I think Salah has just a little more on him. If he converts to CF successfully then he would take over from Messi.
Almost went for the underrated Ter Stegen instead of Ali Not seen enough of Oblak and the times I did he had about 10 defenders protecting him. De Gea still a great shot stopper but goalkeeping is much more than that these days.

LFC squad:
Fabinho, Van Dijk, Wijnaldum, Milner, Keita, Firmino, Mane, Salah, Gomez, Adrian, Henderson, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Lallana, Lonergan, Shaqiri, Brewster, Robertson, Origi, Matip, Hoever, Kelleher, Alexander-Arnold, Elliott.
No Lovren as it looks like he is off to Roma. Interesting if Hoever, Brewster or Elliott get any game time.

Adlab you really are from the dark ages aren’t you?!
Looking forward to the game and hope we win. I dont see it as just a friendly. Hope to see either Ox or Keita have a run out depending on fitness, or maybe even Brewster at some point.
Extra time then pens is possible, 12 suns named, 3 can be used with a 4th in extra time.
Let’s avoid extra time please.
