I’m still optimistic that Keita will come good. I watched a bit of him at RBL and thought he was tailor made for our system but so far it’s not quite been the case. I’ve read recently that Klopp has very specific demands of his midfielders and it can take a while for someone to fully understand them, hence why Fabinho had a fairly long bedding in period. For Keita it’s been longer but maybe that’s been influenced by a few injuries and some settling in issues.

I didn’t get why you needed to have a dig at him just after I mentioned his part in a very good goal.
Last season and this one we have built big leads and then taken our foot off the gas. Take the 4 nil half time lead against Norwich. I think Klopp knows we cannot maintain his style for the whole game as it takes its toll over an entire season. We were knackered a couple of seasons ago towards the end by going flat out but now control the game in a more reserved manner. Salzburg didn’t accept defeat and I think shocked our players who only responded after some changes when it was nearly too late.

“He was instrumental in the build up to their goal too.”
VvD look pretty culpable for a couple of their goals, he must be shit. Jesus…

Just watched the goals again and Robertsons goal was of the highest order. Our much maligned captain played a big part in the build up.
We have it very good at the moment, dont get the negativity.

Thought I’d bring the midfield conversation over here away from the champions league discussion.
Are Henderson, Wijnaldum and Fabinho three of the very best midfielders in the world? No. Are they three of the very best for the tactics Klopp uses. Yes. Does that combination of players and tactics create one of the best teams in the world? Yes.
Pep has a wonderful team but he and Klopp are different. They need different players. Why is everyone comparing and aspiring our team to be like City? Our midfield I mentioned plus Milner won the champions league and got 97 points, that’s what I mean about perspective of criticism, it’s nothing to do with how much you watched them this season. Sorry if that offended you Mak, I just didn’t see the value of your remark.
Personally I love Klopps style. I love what the midfield does. Admittedly they dont always function perfectly, no team does, not even City. Sometimes the opposition have their tactics spot on and need credit. But even if i were a natural I’d rather watch a Klopp style team than a pep one. What i really dont get and think is out of order is when fans jump on the this midfield is shit bandwagon, or Henderson is shit more specifically, or we need creative players. Yet overall we play great and points wise achieved more than any other liverpool team ever has.
Football is not just about sticking the best players together and expecting them play the best football, thats the realm of computer games. It’s about synergy, compatibility and most importantly tactics. Let city do what they do, I’m enjoying this Klopp journey with Henderson being a major part of it.

Mak, dont really get your point. You watched every minute? Good for you. Doesn’t mean you are immune to over-reacting.

2nd October 2019 at 10:20 pm in reply to: Week 2: CL & the crappy one the Goonies are in…. :) #49126Whenever we have or nearly have a bad result everyone jumps on the “we need new players” bandwagon. That midfield did bloody brilliant last season and has won every premiership game thus far. Let’s put things into perspective eh?
Nil I’m guessing your remark is aimed towards me as I’ve told you before you cant just buy a top class player and expect him to be happy on the bench. It’s nothing to do with upsetting the players already here, they wont come in the first place. Do feel I’m banging my head against a brick wall with this one mind…

Guys what’s happening? I can only see snippets of the game. BBC blog mentions chance after chance for Salzburg on top of the 3 goals.

Sure I just heard monkey chants aimed at the Ajax keeper as he faced a penalty against Valencia. Which they missed. That made me happy.

So this is potentially a 6 game ban yet when a crowd makes nasty racist chants nothing is done or at best a tiny fine. Ridiculous.

Crazy night for Spurs. I said before that Bayern are not the team they once were and I stand by that, it seemed everything they touched turned into a goal. Spurs seemed to be playing dangerous tactics however, I think it was their 4th or 5th goal which was a long pass and Gnarby just ran on to and scored. The Spurs line was pretty much in the Bayern half which was suicidal against a team with quality and pace.
I said earlier in the season that something didn’t seem right at Spurs and that appears even more apparent now. I thought it was Poch was not happy with the transfer window, perhaps that promises were broken or targets not met. The rumours mentioned on this site a few days ago regarding a player playing hide the sausage with anothers wife seems to be all over Twitter now so maybe there’s a split dressing room.
Big couple of months ahead for them.

I used to love the big athletic meetings, probably as I was once a very poor mans Linford Christie many years ago for my local club, but I’ve not watched any of this. I’m only interested in the Brits but living overseas obviously the tv companies dont share that idea!
Agree totally about the bungs. Sounds like a terrible decision swayed by the thickness of a brown envelope. Same with football, same with governments, same with anything where there is money and/or power, corruption will follow.

Munich are not the team they once were so I’d fancy spurs to get a result, two nil.
Liverpool host RB Salzburg on wednesday in a game that they must win after the result in Naples. I fancy Naby to play to offer some drive in midfield and because like Mane he played for them which might give him a little boost.
Man city to turn up, go through the motions and get a result in what’s essentially a bye for a group. Chelsea to bounce back and get a result thus making it 4 out of 4.
EL, no idea who’s playing who. Utd to bore everyone to death in a one nil win and if arsenal are away they’ll lose, doesn’t matter who they are playing.

How far have these two teams fallen? On this evidence a long long way. Terrible game with hardly any quality on show.
Pepe has been dreadful so far.

Not sure what VAR has to do with it, it was a legitimate goal by the rules, VAR wouldn’t change anything. The only arguement would be if the rules are correct or not, and in this case I’d have sympathy for City.
