Not sure if I’m watching the same game but it looked a foul on Origi 100%. He turns away from the defender who kicks him on the calf. Clear foul. Atkinson has been very favorable for utd every 59:50 going their way. Mane goal decision correct however.
Liverpool have been poor however and need to step it up massively to get anything from this. It’s a typical Utd Liverpool match, very low on quality and Liverpool seem to hide away.

2nd goal by city was superb. Very disappointed by Palace you’d think they’d have a go looking at the defence of city but they’ve offered nothing. Has to be said City have been wonderful.

Who would you take Ed? Allegri?

18th October 2019 at 11:27 am in reply to: How utd can finish top 4 next season and even challenge for the title #50262I posted on another thread that their form over the last 17 games, nearly half a season remember, is a point a game. That equates to 38 points a season which is relegation form.
I don’t think they will get relegated as theres a few worse teams in the league but I disagree they will challenge again soon with no European distractions. They need a new plan, whether that means new owners or get rid of Woodward I don’t know exactly, but then it will take several transfer windows to put everything right. FSG have been at liverpool 9 years and it 7 of them to get back to the top. Even with Klopp some were questioning his appointment during the first couple of seasons.

I think Ole will be safe for now but I fear the writing it on the wall for him, definitely if this form continues. Theres a lot of talk about Allegri taking over who I believe is a disciplinarian with history of falling out with players. But he is also successful and maybe a kick of the arse of some of their players is what’s needed.
If Ole does come under serious threat I think the decent thing for us non Utd fans is to have a whip round for one of those planes. #saveourole

There’s a rumour going around that Ole won’t get sacked no matter what the score is as the Utd board don’t want it to be Liverpool that’s got their manager sacked again!
So DDG, Pogba and Lingard are out. AWB and Martial are fit for only 30 minutes if reports are to be believed. Based on that the Utd starting line up could be:
Romero
Dalot – Linderlof – Maguire – Young
McTom – Matic
Fred/Pereira
James – Rashford – MataMaybe I’ve missed someone obvious but to me that looks a very poor team, midfield in particular. Versus a full strength and flying Liverpool I can understand why neutrals are saying we will hammer them, but in football there’s always a chance especially in these highly charged derbys. It would need Utd to have a great game and Liverpool to have one of those flat off days, and that is not that unbelievable to imagine happening.

I’d stay clear of Jose. Yes he has won a lot of trophies, albeit a while ago and usually with a lot of backing, but his style and tactics are out of date and the man is now a bitter, humorless shadow of the “Special One” that first walked in at Stamford Bridge.
For some reason I can see Eddie Howe as the next Spurs manager.

“The only positive, from Utdβs POV, is that Liverpool will come at Utd which will play to our one and only strength, countering at pace. One good ball and Rashford, James and Co could nick one.”
Ed that’s the thing I and probably most LFC fans are concerned about. We will dominate possession, I would guess around >60%, you will set up to soak up pressure and hit quick and long to exploit our high line.
It’s when you guys play the lesser lights of the league and need to force the play you come unstuck as you just don’t have the quality creative players. Counter attacking is your strong point and will get the chance to use it against the likes of Liverpool.

De Gea limped off from the Spain game yesterday with a hamstring problem, big doubt for Sunday.
Get what you guys are saying regarding Adrian, he’s been great, but Alisson is the best around. I’m sure if he is too rusty then Klopp wont play him but it depends how he is doing in training. It’s not like you usually bring a goalie on in the 70 minute to gain some match fitness!

Ah proper football, you have been missed…
I’m actually a little worried about the Utd/Liverpool match. Now we all know Utd are rubbish and if they went toe to toe with Liverpool they would surely get their arses handed to them. I think this game will suit them better than against teams like Newcastle where Utd (of the Manchester variety) will have the ball more and be expected to break down the opposition. They just don’t have good enough players to do that. Against better teams, as in the other “top 6”, they can sit back, even at Old Trafford, and counter. They do have the players that can do this, like Martial if fit and Rashford. Think first game of the season vs Chelsea, probably without the 4-0 score line mind.
Can see Palace causing City problems. Roy has his team flying at the moment, they have been one of the form teams for this season and the end of last too I think. And again they have players that can counter well against teams that have the ball more.
Must be pressure on Marco Silva, if they lose at home against an albeit a not-too-shabby West Ham will it be the chop?

Forgot to say, that’s 16 games for Utd, so nearly half a season (17 for most other teams, not sure if it takes into account Utd’s loss at Newcastle or if they played one game less from game week 30 onwards last season). Utd averaging either a point a game or 1.1, extrapolate that for the whole season gives you 38 or 40 points.

Form table since I believe Oli took over just after their win in Paris puts Utd in the bottom 3.
1. LFC 51 pts
2. MC 43
3. LCFC 31
4. CP 27
5. CFC 26
6. WHU 25
7. ARS 25
8. EFC 24
9. BOU 22
10. BUR 22
11. TH 21
12 WW 21
13. NU 19
14. SOU 19
15. MU 17
16. BRI 12
17. WAT 10*3 missing due to relegation
This is shocking for a team like Utd and it’s not just a blip, it’s nearly over half a season. I saw it on a forum where they were discussing if Utd could get relegated or not and my first thought was surely not but unless they improve could they end up in a fight?

Back to football matters, anyone else impressed with Lovren the other day? Sure we were all surprised to see him start instead of Gomez but I thought he did well. He’s had his doubters, with a few high profile clangers, plus a number of injury issues, but deep down he’s a pretty solid defender.
Matip still first choice when he returns however. I really doubted him before, thinking he was too passive to be a top central defender and also cringed every time he marauded forward (he did lose the ball a lot more then, now lays it off much better), but has definitely made me change my mind.

Yeah stick around Mak. We all know Adlab likes to wind up, Sean has highlighted this many times and rightly so, but I like to think just how much Liverpool must be annoying him to resort to such behavior. I think deep down he is maybe a little jealous after our Champions League win, crazy when you think how good City have it at the moment. Whatever it is, lets just laugh at him instead of quitting or getting angry.

To be fair I don’t think LFC having been shouting it’s our year as we are renowned for doing so, everyone else is doing it for us! The games vs City, like last season, will be pivotal. 8 points can change to 2.
I will only celebrate an 8 point lead if there’s only 2 games left! However there is no harm in having hope is there? Surely every fan, even Utd fans(!), have some sort of hope for the season, if not what’s the point of watching?

Biggest mistake Pep has made at City was not strengthening the defence when Kompany moved on. Not only was he a great player and leader, but it also left them with only 3 senior centre backs, for which two of them are suspect. Surely 4 good centre backs is required these days?
Will Pep buy in January? Difficult time to get players admittedly. But if he does who? Would like to hear specifically from the City guys on here.
Koulibaly? SΓΆyΓΌncΓΌ? Thought he impressed against Liverpool apart from being turned once by Salah. Some lesser known player, maybe a u21? Or just make do with what you have?
