If the footballing Gods have any sense of humor then surely they’d make sure it was given to Poch!
Not many top coach about at the moment. Know steveo mentioned Allegri but I’m not convinced his highly structured style would work at Arsenal.

It’s a rumor from a Liverpool rumors forum. I don’t know how much “in the know” the guy is but this is what he wrote:
“hi Guys just to clear something up, Joe has been dealing with something in private that I won’t disclose since the start of the season, well actually before that goes some way as the reason why he’s not been in the team but he’s fine! , doesn’t reflect how he’s been training or whatever, Matip would be playing now regardless of how good he’s been (I know he’s injured but you get my point) The sterling thing has not made anything easier but these things happen. Cheers.”
I agree HH I thought he was all over the place defensively and offered nothing going forward. Worst performance from him I’ve seen.

Read on a different forum (not that one!) from someone that is supposedly “in the know” that Gomez has some personal issues that the club are aware about and supporting him with. No details as to what, just that it is affecting him badly plus all the attention from the Sterling incident and subsequent booing hasn’t helped.
I believe Klopp still rates him but is giving him time. I hope so anyway as I too have high hopes for the lad.

If Napoli draw or win against Genk (at home so you’ll fancy them) then RB Salzburg will go through with almost any victory scoreline. The only ones that would prevent that are 4-3, 5-4, 6-5 and so forth.
Basically, Liverpool have to get a positive result in Austria to go through and that is no easy task. They are a good team. We’ve been in these situations before and prevailed but sooner or later things will go against us and we’ll end up playing Thursday nights.

Pagan I agree with everything you were saying. That’s football. No team has a right to have an easy match and win every time, would be very boring if that was the case.

I dont agree with the goal but have to say Napoli are defending so well as a unit. Very compact and pressing at just right moment. Liverpool need to up the tempo.

I mentioned the Utd incident just because of similarities albeit with opposite outcomes, but lets not go down that road again think it’s been debated enough. But if you haven’t done so take a look at this Madrid PSG incident, Tuchel was laughing his head off most likely at the stupidity of it all!

Can’t believe I had to go back 3 pages to find the VAR thread!
Anyway, anyone see the Madrid v PSG game or highlights? The was an incident involving Courtois who ran out and clobbered the attacker giving away a foul. The ref sent him off and asked VAR to see if it’s a pen or freekick outside the area. VAR overruled the decision saying there was a foul leading up to that incident when a PSG player “pushed” a Madrid player thus giving a free kick for that instead.
Similar to Utd’s goal vs Liverpool? Maybe, except the push was barely that. To me this is crazy, how far back do you want to go when reviewing an incident. What next, no refs on the pitch and every decision made by people in front of a TV with multiple angles and replays?

Ah yeah forgot about the release fee of 30m, yeah seems it is there. Just means RBL get some money, he was always going to go this summer just not for free. 30m isn’t much for top teams, just expect Munich to be favorites as they love to buy up the young German talent and need to replace Lewandowski at some point.
Seems the extension was done so that RBL get some money for their star man and another year out of him, Bayern get the player they want for a price they want when Lewandowski might start to slow down (no sign yet!!) and Werner gets a big pay rise for a year before his move.

LD, sorry to say but Timo Werner signed a contract earlier in the season till 2023. Very heavily linked with Munich, with Haaland going to Leipzig for 25m as part of their shared ownership situation.

Slightly before my time that match HH but didn’t the Flamengo team have Zico in it? Probably one of the best players of that generation. South American teams don’t keep hold of such players these days so wouldn’t expect them to be too strong.

I want us to win it no doubt. I put it higher than than the European Super Cup and I wanted us to win that. Winning trophies regularly is a good habit for the players to get in to and as mentioned we have never won it. Plus I’d imagine it will increase our profile further. Got a good ring to it, Liverpool, European and World Club Champions.
Mak you are right, Liverpool enter at the semi final stage to a team that has to go through one or two round before hand. Flamengo won the Copa Libertores recently and go in at the same stage and you would expect a Liverpool v Flamengo final. If we lose the semi we go into a 3rd/4th play off anyway.
We play away at Leicester 3 days after the final.

26th November 2019 at 8:33 am in reply to: Week 14: A new dawn, a new day…. and I’m feeling gooooood!! #54334Everton, who are in dismal form and Marco Silva is under massive pressure, face Leicester. That’s not good for them, but then I looked at their next few fixtures:
Leicester A
Liverpool A
Chelsea H
Man Utd A
Leicester H (league cup)
Arsenal HHope they don’t sack him before they travel to Anfield!

Those boys at Stockley park will deserve their winners medals if Liverpool manage the title. #LiVARpool
Mane has been the more influential this season so far.

Never did get the whole “Pep wanted him so he must be good” thing. If the papers are to believed Pep also wanted Fred and he’s about as far away from being a City quality midfielder as you can get at the moment. Yeah there are worse players at Utd but I think paying what Utd did they would expect more, hence the discussion he generates.

As far as I am aware Arteta isn’t simply just Peps understudy, he is being modelled to take over from Pep when he leaves. It’s not just about being a coach under a great manager, it’s about inheriting the same ethos and methods so that the transition is smooth. Same I believe will happen with Klopp and Ljinders.
So whilst I think Arteta would stay at City knowing Pep doesn’t do the longhaul, if there was a chance of Arsenal getting him I think they would be getting more than just simply someone with coaching experience.

Rumor today that Arteta would be looked at to take over when the inevitable happens and Emery gets the chop. Surely Arsenal fans would be happy with that? To be honest I can’t see it happening as I think Arteta is being groomed into taking over from Pep.
Ten Hag or Nagelsmann would be good shouts. Young managers with modern ideas that I think would play football the way Arsenal fans would like.
Poch won’t be short of offers with managerless Bayern apparently keen on him.
