Salah puts away by far his hardest chance

Could put in an inspired display what with being an ex RBS player. Conversely he could have an almighty Moreno sized brain-fart and gift a goal or two to his former employers.

It wouldn’t be a Liverpool Champions League campaign without a last game of the group stage nail-biter! Although we have triumphed in the past one day it won’t go our way and we’ll end up having to play Thursday evenings. If this would happen this time it could seriously hamper the league campaign.
I think we’ll do it. We played some scintillating stuff in the reverse fixture before the whole team decided to take a nap and let them get back to 3-3. Hopefully they will be more focused this time. I’m going for a comfortable 2-0 or 3-0 with a nice early goal to settle any nerves.

Think Pepe needs to do a lot more for a lot longer to be hailed with “what a player!”. Big let down for such a big price. Heard a lot of good things about Martinelli however.

No, lose 1-0 we go out.
Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams; 3 points each
Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams; 0 GD each
Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams; 4 goals each (think this will always be the same if the above is!)
Away goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams; 3 for SB, 0 for us.We would go out on away goals in the head to head. If it ends 4-3 then we have the same away goals we would go out on goal difference in the group games.
So a 1-0, 2-1, 3-2 or 4-3 loss, or by 2 goals or more, Liverpool go out (assuming Napoli beat Genk).

βGo out against Bayern Munichβ β Gary Neville tells Liverpool to give up on Champions League and prioritise the Premier League’
Good job we didn’t listen to him! Last season we won the CL and still maintained incredible league form so I think a couple of matches in Qatar won’t derail Liverpool’s challenge too much.
Having said that I am sure if we lose to LCFC then people will blame the CWC without thinking it could be that we may of just lost anyway. I say go for it, bring back the trophy and hope the winning mentality carries the team forward to more success.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting reports on what Liverpool actually need to qualify/drop to the EL. I just read Nine’s post and think he has it wrong.
Assuming Napoli beat Genk (Liverpool qualify no matter what if they don’t) then:
Liverpool go out to any loss to RBS with a 2 goal margin or any 1 goal margin until 5-4 (which is then better away goals than RBS 4-3 loss at Anfield).
Official order:
Points in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
Goal difference in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
Goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
Away goals scored in head-to-head matches among tied teams;
Goal difference in all group matches;
Goals scored in all group matches;
Away goals scored in all group matches;
Wins in all group matches;
Away wins in all group matches;
Disciplinary points (red card = 3 points, yellow card = 1 point, expulsion for two yellow cards in one match = 3 points);
UEFA club coefficient.After that if still no winner they get the managers to nude wrestle to the death in a giant tub of Jelly.

Its Sean’s pet name for City.
Or could just be one of his typos, not sure.

Oz don’t think anyone is saying it’s over, well not LFC fans anyway, but we are able to discuss it whilst saying it’s looking good. Of course we could get an injury to a key player, any team can.
To summarise how I see it, for Leicester or City to win the league they would need to hit the sort of form City had in the 2nd part of last season AND Liverpool to show the sort of form they had about 4 years ago when they struggled to make top 4.
Agree San Diego is pretty good although popping over the border is scary!

Leicester travel to City on the 21st, that’s going to be a very interesting game. Whilst there’s talk of City conceding the title I can’t imagine they will not give anything other than 100%. But can City cope with a red hot Vardy? I agree with Sean, for the way they play with a high line, Walker is “cuties” best defender.
What Leicester have done this season is pretty incredible and I’m guessing no one bar their most optimistic fan could of imagined it. But for them to take the title they need to keep this winning streak going and hope for a Liverpool collapse. It could happen, but it’s not looking likely.

Adlab as srd said he cant really do anything about his arms. Handball is given for deliberate (which rarely actually happen) or by putting them in an unnatural position like doing a star jump when someone shoots.

Fred has had a good half. City really dont like playing against fast players do they?
Going to be an interesting second half. If city get an early goal I can see them clawing this back. If they dont then they will start to leave even more space for utd to run into.

Frantic start to the Manchester derby. No way will this stay goalless for long.

Finally a clean sheet! Very comfortable win although the turning point was Ake off. Bournemouth were all over the place after that and Liverpool ruthlessly exploited that. Good game from Keita although he still dwells on the ball too long and got caught a couple of times at the start, got better as the game went on. Great performance by Hendo who made a couple of through balls that any top midfielder would be proud of.
Now to sit back, relax and watch the Manchester derby.

Mav I don’t go on TT anymore except to read the sometimes hilarious Utd page (get some of them over!) but last time I checked about 4 months ago Shanksy was banned. Maybe Nine has an idea what went on?

Stevo, there was a thread I started about Henderson before the Hendo-watch one that also went on for 20 odd pages. I foolishly thought an intelligent discussion could emerge from starting such a topic. I was wrong.
But just while we are on the topic, Henderson is not a world class midfielder but is a vital component of a World Class team. And to be that in my option is more important than being supposedly world class.

Mav not seen much (any to be honest!) of Williams I have to admit but AWB has never looked comfortable going forward to me, strange when he used to be a winger. I rarely see Utd create a 2v1 overload against opposition fullbacks.

But Ed even with Pogba pulling the creative strings you’ve struggled against low block teams. It’s not just about the occasional defence splitting pass, it’s about moving the opposition about, and for that you need more than one midfielder with an ounce of ability. The midfield is a unit and Utd’s even with Pogba and “better than Henderson” McTomminay is broken, it doesn’t work effectively. (unlike Liverpools with Mr Henderson being an integral part of it I may add) π
Plus you have fullbacks that can’t attack, but if space is there you do have attackers that can exploit it.

Thought the derby was a thoroughly enjoyable game, much to everyone’s surprise no doubt! I thought all 4 of the first half goals were superb. Has anyone ever seen Lovren hit a ball like that before? Or seen Origi finish with such composure? Shame about conceding 2 obviously.
What pleased me most was the fact the guys like Origi and Shaq can come in after little game time and still be 100% committed and do a good job. I hope Keita will get some time also in the next few games, Klopp hinted he was tempted to play him in some part yesterday and that he is in good shape now.
As for Everton it was crazy playing a high line against Mane who seemed to be in God-mode. Silva will surely go soon and a relegation battle seems very much on the cards.
