Yeah Nil, and the doctor who was involved with Pep’s doping at Brescia followed him to that great Barcelona team. Of course thr charges at Brescia where revoked years later and nothing ever proven at Barca, he seems very good at getting away with it.

Pep cheated as a player by doping, I’m sure he’s not too bothered about cheating as a manager.

Agree with Sean, it’s boring now. Great that Arsenal stayed with them as long as they did but like us a couple of times it’s inevitable that City win.
City winning feels hollow. Its like its not even important what happens anymore. The damage they’ve done to the PL is unrecoverable.

If City had not been taken over they would had remained the mid table no marks they once were.
The thing is City didn’t need to cook the books, they could have played fair and still made it to the top albeit takjng longer. They had the wealthiest owners but to them that doesn’t seem to be enough, they wanted to win right now no matter how.
We will never know what City could have achieved playing by the rules. Even if as expected they get away with it again to most fans their success will always come with an asterisk next to it. They win the Treble, the double or whatever and no one really cares or gives them any credit. Bluemoon will probably says he doesn’t care about what others think but you can tell Pep does, he hates that his achievements at City are viewed as insignificant.

Likewise only seen a YouTube clip and at first glance he looked off. However I have read it was very close or even on and the lineman has apologised to Tuchel for not allowing it go to VAR. If that’s the case it’s extremely hard luck for Bayern. Will hope BVB can pull off a surprise in the final.

I’m waiting for Chucky to come on here and tells us he’s been legally threatened for continuously calling them the 115 on footydebate!
It’s a bit petty, freedom of speech and all that.
I also think they will get away with most of it, maybe a small fine for non-cooperation. The biggies, covering up your expendiature and falsifying your sponsorship income, involve so many people and organisations outside of City or their group, with some being multi billion dollar companies or high rankers in them, that it will be very difficult to prove the charges.
How do non-City fans feel if they are not found guilty? I am not sure I can continue to invest time into sport where cheats do indeed prosper. It might likely be the final nail in my coffin as a football supporter.

Speaking of Tuchel, Ragnick has confirmed he will not be taking the Bayern job. So that’s one of the very biggest boys still looking for a manager.

Fergie hit the jackpot in 1992 with the core team for the next decade and more all graduating from the academy at once. It was a youth intake that has never been seen since and meant he was in the position to fine tune the squad rather than overhaul like others.

CM, making a name in Europe isn’t the best criteria for choosing a manager. Zidane has probably the best European pedigree of any available manager, Tuchel is also a European champion, would you want either at your club? Both are linked so maybe we get to see!
Just because Slot isn’t the most well known name (yet) in football doesn’t mean he was not the right choice. As already said, Utd have hone down the big name route several times with terrible results. Spurs appointed Ange who doesn’t have much European pedigree but I think I’m right in saying spurs fans love him due to his attacking tactical approach and personality, combined with doing good enough I suppose on the pitch.
I agree with Ed that the structure is more important than the coach. Say what you like about City and their advantages but behind the scenes they are incredibly well run. Liverpool have gone back to having the coach be more of a coach than manager with Edwards coming back (and not coincidental he comes back as Klopp leaves) and was one of the reasons Slot was chosen as opposed to Amorim.
Time will tell with Slot but I’m confident unless a total disaster the fans will give him it. Writing him off already even by rival fans is ridiculous, but i guess time will tell.

Oh right its the poor club structure that led you to start a thread titled “Time for Ten Hag to go”. Makes sense now.
Ten Hag won two titles in 5 years and one run to the CL semi final with Ajax. Dortmund this year are in the CL semi final, maybe Utd will be knocking on whoever their managers door is this summer?
They say never buy a player based on a good tournament, maybe that should be extended to “never hire a manager based on one good cup run”. Winning the title with much fancied Ajax with far greater resources than anyone else isn’t exactly an indication of an elite coach.
Your last paragraph makes zero sense. Firstly, which utd managers were compared to Fergie and how? And if it hasn’t worked for your ckub why does that have any relevance to another? Secondly, if the style is similar then of course it should be easier for both the players and the fans to transition. Should we have gone like Utd did with Jose for someone that played boring football? As said, zero sense.
I don’t know much about Slot but all I can hope is the recruitment team has done their research correctly when it comes to his tactical approach and personality. Time will tell, but no manager should written off before they’ve even managed one game (except for Ole, was clear he would be a disaster from day one. Damn I miss that guy).
Final point, Klopp walked into a right mess at Liverpool, so i dismiss your point about Klopp and the structure. His personality and tactical approach brought affinity with the fans which then gave him the base for the success.

“No reliable source is reporting thereβs anything in that whatsoever.”
Ten Hag hasn’t been sacked yet so there’s no reliable source that can report anything yet anyway. But Southgate is still the bookies favorite followed by Potter, I think due to Ratcliffe being an admirer or something.
It’s enough to give me hope at least.

And how’s it going with “made a name for himself in europe” Ten Hag? Unless utd win the fa cup (unlikely) he’s unemployed this summer and Utd will most likely turn to Southgate (please football gods make this happen) or maybe Zidane (also could be very funny). Ten Hag lost to Poch in Europe, maybe utd should have gone for him instead in the first place.
Van Gaal and Mourinho also did pretty well in Europe, didn’t work out too well either!
Let’s judge him after he’s at least taken the job and maybe played a few matches first.

Well look on the bright side, at least we won’t miss out on the title by one point on the final day again. Every cloud and all that…

Nil we use a spend what you earn type system, but that is controlled by the club not FSG. People always get the two mixed up when it comes to transfers. We increase revenue our transfer kitty increases for example. Sales of course can boost the kitty but it never have been a policy of the club. All this moneyball nonsense never actually existed with the club.

There’s not actually much choice at the moment. Alonso was my choice and probably every other liverpool fans (apart from Sean!) just because of the achievements at Leverkusen (and not because he is an ex-player).
Nearly every management appointment is a risk. Maybe not Pep at City as I think they always had him in mind and set everything up to accommodate him. Even Klopp at Liverpool came from a very disappointing season at Dortmund.
For me it’s about tactical acumen and as Mikus says charisma and personality. Klopp quickly won the LFC fans over with his exciting style, his charismatic personality and he tapped into the football culture of Liverpool. He just got it, and we got him.
At least with Slot he plays a similar high intensity style that Klopp gave us and we enjoyed, with either a 4231 or 433. Amorim plays with 3 at the back which would be a change as does Alonso who is more Guardiola than Klopp in style.
Just have to hope the recruitment team do their job with diligence.

Pep is clearly a good tactician but he’s only every managed the best club in the land with the best resources. His first job was with probably the finest club team ever, talk about a lucky break!
He will never be fully recognised as one of the best ever PL managers like SAF, AW etc, but is undoubtedly good at implementing his style.
Edit: his CL success at City is pretty poor considering his team are always favorites.

I think you all know what I think of Nunez, but before Haaland kicked a ball for City I said he would make them worse. Maybe Sean can remember when I said he doesn’t get involved in build up play, not good at passing and not the best first touch.
Great goal scorer no denying but yes City would be a better team with an Aguero style player at peak Aguero level. Won’t score as many individual but who cares, its a team sport and the team would be better.

If as expected Mbappe joins then Real with have a front line consisting of Vini Jr, Mbappe, Rodrygo and the much acclaimed Brazilian youngster Endrick. Coupled with what they already have in midfield with Bellingham, Tchouameni and Carmavinga they are developing some team that could dominate for years.
