Genuine question Adlab, not trying to take the Mick or anything, but how exactly is it less about justice and more about politics? What politics exactly? Also, yes the emails were “stolen”, but they still exist and were (so-far) undeniably written by City senior hierarchy and point a very strong finger at City doing some very shady business with the figures.
It’s like catching someone on CCTV commiting a murder and then arguing they are innocent of that crime because there were no signs warning of CCTV and therefore was filmed “illegally”. Not sure about you but in my eyes he/she is still a murderer.

What if a player sets off earlier to beat the offside trap and his trailing foot, if you can picture it in the natural running position, is onside but every other part of him is off? You could be talking daylight offside. Doesn’t even need to be his foot, could be just his big toe!
You’d probably end up with strikers standing legs akimbo just to stay onside!

“If anyone on here has addded anything meaningful to what we all know following the UEFA announcement I havenβt seen it.”
Sorry I find that ironic as I think a few of us have actually made good points, be it regarding the legal system, possible punishments, reports of further investigations or the ideas that it’s a big conspiracy. The only ones not adding anything meaningful are the ones say lets just wait and see what happens at CAS.

Nine you most suffer badly from splinters with you sitting on the fence all the time! As I said before this is footydebate and this is a topic that people want to debate. I really don’t get your passive stance all the time.

Yeah he is doing ok, but until he proves he can do it on a cold windy night in Stoke I won’t believe he’s much good. But seriously I think his goal scoring for Dortmund is showing he is going to be a top player. I wasn’t convinced before as the Austrian league is hardly top draw but he is showing it at the highest level now.
Side note, anyone else notice that Dortmund’s front 3 that finished the game were all teenagers and born in England?

18th February 2020 at 12:18 pm in reply to: Champions League and Naughty Clubs: Round of 1/16 and 2/16 #70982Atletico are not the team they were, now pretty terrible going forward. Agree Sean I think it will be a horrible game and low scoring. In fact I think it will be a 0-0 which I would be happy with to be honest.

You make good points so thank you for taking the time to explain it in such detail. And as you said earlier they could be relevant to either party. If this does go belly up for UEFA they’ll have really made themselves look even worse than they have done before.

This is just a bit of fun so hopefully no City fan finds it offensive. It was made by someone on the Utd forum Redcafe and all the quotes are ones actually written by City fans on Bluemoon forum.

Surrey, you are describing a situation where there is blame only based on suspicion rather than evidence. When evidence is actually sought it was dismissed and they went along based solely on their original suspicion. Right? Don’t think it’s the same. UEFA’s action is based on evidence, not suspicion. Well they probably did suspect it I think the entire footballing world did apart from a blue section of Manchester! As I posted earlier City can either discredit the evidence or hope UEFA is deemed not-appropriate to be judge and executioner.

Nine, when I talk about VAR, I am not talking about the just the technical side of it. Most of the time it is down to the idiot operating it. VAR is the idiot, the computer, the cameras, the funny bent lines, the whole system.

I only saw a bit of the game but the Sky Germany commentators said “definitive rote Karte” to Maguires kick to the goolies. When the big screen showed no red card they just burst out laughing. Professional commentators reduced to laughing because of VAR. In another match something blatantly obvious wasn’t overturned and they said “welcome to the Premier League with VAR” whilst again having a chuckle at our expensive.
We have literally become a laughing stock. Not seen many European games but how do they do it, or more to the point how come we can’t?

“Wait for the evidence”
Adlab, and I say this as respectively as I can, but I do not think you understand the situation. You asked me earlier where the evidence is and now you say we should wait for it. The evidence is the emails. These are not just some emails that someone has pitched up at a newspaper trying to make a bit of cash. This evidence has already been studied, already deemed by the governing body to be worthy to punish City. There’s no more evidence to wait for because as Mak has tried to explain City are already guilty. City are trying to get out of it on a technicality.

Some of Adlabs nonsensical post might actually be correct. If City fail with their appeal with CAS they can take it to the Swiss Federal Court and then on to the European Court of Human Rights. Whilst they are appealing the ban cannot take place and it could take a couple of years for the case to be looked at by the ECHR. With the damage this could cause UEFA, other teams looking to qualify for the Champions League and the tournament itself it wouldn’t surprise me if City and UEFA came to some sort of suspended sentence/bigger fine type agreement.
For City to exonerated I think it could be down to two things. Either the evidence is discredited, I’ve read City could claim the emails to be a joke or an exercise, or UEFA is deemed to be unsuitable due to a conflict of interests to pass judgement and sentence. Basically if City get off it will be on a technicality.

Keita did a few good things I thought, but again was let down by either hesitancy or his decision making. He can collect the ball and surge forward better than any other midfielder. In this game he had more of a positive influence than Ox or Gini. Not great, but not the worst.
Hendo had a pretty good game. I think you and me Mak watch different games as I never understand your criticism of him.

Tugay, if that was the case why has there been a lengthy investigation and subsequent ban for city? If City are living within there means then surely theres no problem?
Apologies gj, I didn’t recheck the posts that I read from last night.

Gjblues sorry I should of answered last night, but my view on why ffp rules were introduced is pretty boring and mainstream I’m afraid.
I think it was to stop teams simply buying their way to success by means of having a sugar daddy rather than money earned through correct management. To stop any more rich folk wanting the next City or next PSG as their new play thing and distorting the league by placing their team in a false and undeserved position. To stop screwing other teams out of titles and millions of cash that they would of earned otherwise. In short, to make the game fairer.
As said, pretty boring and probably echoed by many other supporters out there. But your idea that its anti Arabic sounds far more exciting, please tell us more.

Adlab, to paraphrase Brian, “Daily Mail, says it all really”.
I could easily counter the article from Martin Samuel with arguments from far more respected journalists.
Nine, I don’t understand your “we are all fans of football clubs” thing that you come out with when there’s something controversial to discuss. Should we all just come on here and pat each other on the back and say nice things? It’s called Footydebate, so lets debate, and if a City fan comes on here saying things like it’s an anti-Arabic agenda then I will pull them up on it. Don’t really care if that upsets anyone to be honest.
You’re right it could have major implications on City, but it already has had major ones on other teams too. The ones missing out on championships, missing out on the millions generated by the Champions League. Sorry but I have no sympathy for City or any fan that defends the situation, you cheated, you deserve what you get.
It could get overturned, but from what I can see City’s argument is that the emails were obtained illegally, not that they were false. That could be deemed as impermissible in a court of law, but this is a civil case so I don’t think that applies. Either way their titles will always be remembered as the ones won unfairly. Kind of puts a mockery on their #taintedtitle thing some City fans have going on this season!
