Depends on how the Porto fans behaved. You get more than 300 on a UK beach or at the park when it’s sunny, more than 300 at some recent protest rallies. We have more than 300 down our high street on a Saturday afternoon, probably a couple of thousand.
If they go around licking each other then I’d say it’s worrying. Or if some of them are either of the high risk group or frequently visit someone of that group then yeah they should know they shouldn’t be there.

Paxton many members of the public have been fined for breaking the rules, some may of got away with it. Many have obeyed the rules and have missed out on saying goodbye to their loved ones. You may know many that have nothing done, but how many of those are in the public eye? How many are part of the government that set the rules? Can you not see what message this now sends to the public? Can you not see how angry this makes people that have obeyed the rules and missed out being with their dying parent or attend their funeral?
It’s just another balls up by the government, one of many during this whole situation

I don’t think anyone can question the morals of his actions but what would happen if Joe Public did the same? Would they be let off? I must admit I haven’t followed the story in much detail but hypocrisy is one thing that people usually cannot stand.

I fail to see why getting people back to work and starting football again are dependant on each other.
By the way who isn’t back at work in the UK yet? Pubs and restaurant workers I assume, but are not the rest of you back now or doing home office?
Read that Emmerdale started filming this week. Now I am no expert on that show but I could guess that the world does not actually need Emmerdale, even less so than football! But they started filming again. Why? Maybe because people are seeing the need to get things going again in all aspects of society.
People are still dying, it’s shit. People like Parklane have my condolences, this must be a truly dreadful time. However without trying to sound arrogant but life does go on and we all need to learn how to make steps forward. This could be here for years.

I’ve reflected on what I said towards Nine and 1967 and realise I misinterpreted what they were saying. When I read Nine’s post and in particular the line “she wasn’t expecting to play Monopoly” it reminded me of the Ronaldo rape accusation post on TT when someone said “she went back to his hotel room, what did she think was going to happen”. That really made my blood boil and I read Nine’s comment in the same light. After a little thinking about it I can see what Nine and 1967’s point is regarding the fact there are two sides to every story, something I also mentioned also in one of my posts, and that Nine wasn’t trying to justify Hudson’s alleged actions.
I stand by what I said in latter posts regarding rape but realise it should not of been directed towards Nine or 1967. I misinterpreted their comments and for that I am embarrassed and deeply sorry for any offence.

1967 it doesn’t matter if she brought lingerie after being asked to. It doesn’t matter if she is a sex worker going there for sex, or just someone who was after sex with a footballer. Maybe she changed her mind because he got violent, or maybe he asked for something she was uncomfortable with. We dont know, but if she said no and he continued then its rape, even if she was naked on his bed.
Of course it could be a set up. Footballers are probably one of the easiest prey for such things, being young, rich and most likely lacking in intelligence. But I’m not arguing if he is guilty or not, I don’t know the details and never will, I am saying there is not a single situation imaginable that can justify a rape. And now I have read two comments on here that to me at least seem to indicate a justification or at least an excuse and that I find pretty disgusting.

Nine you wrote that paragraph which sounded very much like you’re saying she was asking for it, so frankly I couldn’t care less if you are insulted. If I am somehow reading it wrong then I will wholeheartedly apologise but it sounds like the sort of thing an ignorant old chauvinist would say.
With your power of editing I would suggest you go back and do more work on it as it still reads pretty bad.

“If the reports are true the girl and he exchanged flirtatious texts and she was asked to bring sexy lingerie and she turned up with a Luis Vuitton bag and I suspect she wasnβt expecting to play Monopoly.”
Nine are you justifying rape?

Nine I fully understand why the uk is very cautious at the moment but at some point in the near future you will start to take steps back. You will live with the virus. Things like football returning, things like borders opening, families going on holiday etc. are part of that process. Just dont expect it to be exactly how it was last year. I think some on here are harsh with the return of football when it should be known that it wont be perfect but done in small steps.
Yes the situation in the photo shocked me hence why I took and posted it. I didn’t expect Adlab reply saying that a 2nd wave would come as although that may happen the signs are good. His reply seemed to be negative just for the sake of it without any knowledge of the situation or reason.

Adlab over here we are a few weeks ahead of the uk regarding recovery but this is where the uk expects to be when football resumes. You say we are looking at a second wave but our small shops have been open for 3 or 4 weeks and the large ones 2 or 3 and in this city we have between 0 and 10 new cases a day. We rarely have a death and that is for a population of over 1 million.
Some of you are very negative and pessimistic about the future but you are looking at now not how they will hopefully will be in a few weeks. Italy and Spain have had it as hard as the UK and they are now opening up.
As I’ve said many times now life has changed and will remain like this for a while but the best thing to do is to learn to live with the virus, not stop until you hope it goes away. Things, including football, will not be exactly how it was, we must expect compromises. If you are expecting everything to just be how it was before then I pity you as you are going to be very disappointed and negative for a long time.

Next season there will be no fans, at least for a large part of it. Call that off too?

Adlab how do you prepare for a new season when the probability is that the virus will be here for a while yet? Just wait till it’s over? That could be 2 years or more. That isn’t an option as teams will go bust. They need to find a solution to move forward and that is what the Germans are doing and the English will do in a few weeks. And we need to do this for every aspect of our lives. Learn to live with the virus, not just wait in your house until it passes or a vaccine is available.

14th May 2020 at 11:31 am in reply to: Newcastle takeover and the craziest PL transfer rumours! #112256“but it would be a major departure from Liverpoolβs transfer strategy which is handed down by Fenway.”
That was the Fenway way a few years ago but they changed strategy. Purchases of Alisson and VvD for then records proves this. IΒ΄m with Mav on this that 80m or whatever for a world class CB would be justified if they get the results on the pitch and trophies in the cabinet. IΒ΄m sure Liverpool would be happy for VvD to stay another 5 years when he will be 32 with hardly any resale value.
I actually think K2 is a little overrated. His positioning isn’t that good but he can rely on his superb physical attributes to get him out of trouble. I guess you could say the same about VvD a year or two ago mind.

Adlab, you know the reason why ethnic minorities are hit harder right? It’s to do with their on average lower socioeconomic level. It’s not that the virus targets people of dark skin specifically. And players usually fair pretty well when it come to quality of life so I don’t think it’s something to be too concerned about.

I read the below comments on a Liverpool forum so I cannot take credit for. Also I have not quoted it as an attack against anyone here but I agree with a lot that was written.
“The reality of life just now is that people have a multitude of things on their minds. Despite that, the ‘just void it’ types have built a straw man to attack. This straw man comes in the shape of the Liverpool fan who, apparently, only has one thing on his/her mind, and that is to lift the title.
Now I am Liverpool fan, but lifting the title probably occupies about 0.01% of my day. It lurks at the back of my mind as I also think about a million other, more pressing, things happening in my life just now. The straw man is an invention, not the reality, but they’ll attack it anyway.
It’s really ironic that those who feel we should only think about the virus and nothing else always seem to be bleating on about football and how we shouldn’t play it or think about it. It seems we aren’t allowed to think positively about football’s future, but they are allowed free reign to endlessly talk negatively about it.
I’ve said a few times on here but, in times of crisis, it’s actually beneficial to people to spend at least a little time per day looking forward to and thinking about better times to come.
Viktor E. Frankl was a psychiatrist before the war and was sent to Auschwitz death camp during it. As a prisoner he observed the mindset of fellow prisoners who survived and those who gave up and died. He noted how those who tended to survive had a vision of what they’d do when they were liberated. They gave themselves something to look forward to, something to survive for. Many of those with more negative outlooks tended to give up, fade away and eventually die. So, even in the face of unspeakable horror and the daily anxiety over being selected for the gas chambers, there were men in that hellhole with their minds on better times and happier days. In fact, this helped them to survive and eventually rebuild their lives.
So when we have idiots telling us that we should be concentrating on the virus, the death toll and the misery of the current situation, I think we are well within our rights to tell them to do one. We spend enough of our day worrying, and giving ourselves something to look forward to and aim for is beneficial to good mental health.
It’s the people who insist we should all be consumed by the misery of this virus who really need to take a look at themselves. With their attitude we all go under. With ours, we get to seek and find solutions and we get through and, eventually, we rebuild. In a crisis, we need positive people. Forward thinking. Solutions, not excuses to stay stagnating in misery and malaise.”

Paxton, I agree it looks like it will go on for a lot longer, but returning to football doesn’t mean recklessness. We need to make steps to return in many aspects but do so as safely as we can. This can mean football, going to the cinema, the gym, making holidays. All in the grand scheme of things are not that important but to an individual they are. Sean rightly mentions mental health issues and returning to the normal things we like will help massively. And then you have the economy, if things don’t move on and you remain shut down then you’ll find far more people dying and for a longer time than what the virus caused.

Sean I’ve not heard anything different. In fact just read that the next two weeks will be free on TV, with their around the grounds conference thing. Doubt it would work outside Germany but if you have an ISP try https://sport.sky.de/sky-sport-news-hd?aw=true this weekend.
I look at this whole tainted title thing with a smile on my face.
Liverpool 2019/2020 Champions*
*title pretty much won by December.
Agree with everything else you wrote Sean. We need to move on in all aspects of life but done in as safe a manner as we can.
