I’d say Chelsea have given Liverpool their toughest games this season. Agree with Sean and Ed it’s the best time to play us.
Looks like Liverpool, City, Chelsea and Utd for the Champions League next season. Strong representation.

It’s crazy how much the UK lags behind everyone else yet is one of the worst affected. I have been wearing masks for months now. It’s like when the UK took much longer than other European countries to ban or impose quarantine measures on visitors from hot zones. Too little and far too late.

Nine fully agree with you I cannot believe uefa messed up so much with this 5 year thing. Someone has made a career ending mistake.

Surrey Blue, the emails were conclusive evidence of wrongdoing hence why they were found guilty by UEFA. The only reason why City have escaped a ban is because of a technicality, that the evidence is basically out of date. I think a number of us said months ago that if they were going to get away with it then their lawyers would find some sort of loophole that would mean the evidence was inadmissible and that is what happened. City have never been able to come out and say that they haven’t financially doped because the evidence is there.
Mikus I said just after the verdict from CAS that this will have huge ramifications on UEFA. It will take a while before the dust settles but this has proven that FFP is not worth the paper it’s written on or is any threat to adhere to it from UEFA. I don’t want to sound over dramatic but this could hasten a move away from UEFA by the G14 teams. This could be a major step towards the Superleague we all dread.

Stolen from someone writing in to the Beeb daily blog but made me giggle:
“Amazing to hear that City haven’t been banned because over 5 years have passed since their infractions. Lance Armstrong admitted to doping 7 years after his last title, maybe we should cut him some slack.”_____________________________

They were found guilty of not cooperating with UEFA authorities, hence the fine. It seems that the evidence presented was thrown out on a technicality, as in the time limit. Would of thought UEFA lawyers might of done a little research into this before submitting!
This will have huge ramifications throughout Europe. I’m looking forward to what the Spanish FA has to say! It could hasten a Superleague break-away, one where the state-sponsored teams (City, PSG and probably Newcastle) are not invited.

Uefa’s statement
“UEFA takes note of the decision taken by the Court of Arbitration for Sport to reduce the sanction imposed on Manchester City FC by UEFA’s independent Club Financial Control Body for alleged breaches of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play regulations.
UEFA notes that the CAS panel found that there was insufficient conclusive evidence to uphold all of the CFCB’s conclusions in this specific case and that many of the alleged breaches were time-barred due to the 5 year time period foreseen in the UEFA regulations.
Over the last few years, Financial Fair Play has played a significant role in protecting clubs and helping them become financially sustainable and UEFA and ECA remain committed to its principles.
UEFA will be making no further comments on the matter.”

“The CAS award emphasized that most of the alleged breaches reported by the Adjudicatory Chamber
of the CFCB were either not established or time-barred. As the charges with respect to any dishonest
concealment of equity funding were clearly more significant violations than obstructing the CFCB’s
investigations, it was not appropriate to impose a ban on participating in UEFA’s club competitions
for MCFC’s failure to cooperate with the CFCB’s investigations alone.”Time-barred?! Seriously that can be used as justification?

Very bad news for UEFA and FFP, sugar-daddy teams now know they can do what they want and there’s no punishment. Might as well scrap FFP completely.

As it stands if an English team make the quarters or later then they need to self isolate for 2 weeks on return to England if I have read the situation correctly.

Do we have the dates for these? I think the finalists will not get much of a break before the new season starts, like about 5 days or so.
Any news on how the French teams will manage this?

Nine it’s a little more complicated then Liverpool buying 3 key players. They had a plan in place, a way to play and what players they need to fit those plans as best they could. They needed pretty much the perfect players for the system and they got them. This is where I am still not convinced by Ole, I still don’t really know what style of play he plays (admit not watched them much so please Utd fans enlighten me). They succeeded with Fernandes, but not with Maguire, Van Bissaka or Dan James. (I bet mentioning Maguire and Van Bissaka get Ed to respond!!).

I think whilst the players maintained their fitness over the lockdown they clearly lost some of the match sharpness. You often hear Klopp mention rhythm and the early games clearly lacked that for most. The quality is getting better.
Utd look good. I am sure they will improve a lot next season but will they challenge for the title? 90+ points is the standard at the moment so that is a heck of a catch up Utd need to do, but with a couple of additions I would have them as strong top 4 candidates. I’m still not convinced by Ole although he seems to have stumbled on a system that suits his players.
Oh and it was never a pen for Utd, should of been a freekick the other way.

What about Pulisic Chelsea lads? Seems the leagues form player since the restart. A lot quicker than I think many realise and with an end product.

Haha Ed glad I wasn’t the only one that spotted that!
I think Chucky has made a good point regarding the squad. When it’s laid out like that you can see a massive decline in quality.
So a large rebuilding task is in order most likely on a shoestring budget. One where the manager would need his players to punch above their weight by inspiring them and creating a strong dressing room atmosphere (I think not criticising players in public might be a step towards this!). Using exciting progressive tactics that the fans can see the positive direction the team is going in (think Klopp 1st season) and gets behind the team.
Does Joes sound like the man for such a task?!
Thing is Spurs a likely stuck with him as I’m sure sacking him will be expensive. That man has made a lot of money by being sacked recently, if only I could do this in my line of work!!
