Apologies for the language Ed but saying I would not defend my family was not on. I think you have misunderstood the points I am trying to say. Let’s forget it and move on.
I do not think he had a few beers and said to his mates “I know what would be funny, I’ll punch that copper!”. It is likely that something, probably to his sister, happened that provoked him. Red mist descended on him. I’m pretty sure it’s happened to all of us. He was arrested amongst other things for resisting arrest. Is it not reasonable to suggest that the punch happened at this point? If you’re raged and probably drunk and someone grabs you and you resist you will likely throw your arms about all over the place and possibly connect with the person.
What isn’t certain is if he knew they were the Police at the time, if he did then he is a complete tit that deserves everything he got, if not then you can understand his actions better. I am actually sitting on the fence on this one, I have no agenda one way or the other, I just don’t think people can say defending his sister is a viable excuse if you do not know exactly what happened.
Regarding what I said about my concern would be the welfare of the sister I stand by that. If someone is wielding a syringe and threatening a family member I would defend with all I have. The priority is to ensure their safety. I have actually been in this situation so know how I would act. But if a family member had already been injected with potentially an infectious disease or was showing signs of distress (think she passed out?) then whilst I would be very angry at the perpetrator I think I would still ensure the victim was ok first. Attacking and venting your anger is not the most important priority.
But maybe that happened anyway, I don’t know and likely never will.

26th August 2020 at 8:53 am in reply to: Harry “come on then if you think you’re hard enough” McGuire #161677Ed, he was found guilty of aggravated assault on an officer, attempted bribery and resisting arrest. How the fuck does that equate to defending his sister? And how fucking dare you suggest I wouldn’t defend my family. I would love to see you in person give me a reason to defend my family and see how you get on.
The prosecution, whose case was found to be proven in a court of law, state that he said “Do you know who I am? I am the captain of Manchester United, I am very rich, I can give you money, I can pay you, please let us go.” Not just some crap from Utd internet legal warriors.

Messi kissed off Suarez?! I did hear they were close…
Messi got far too powerful at Barca. He has been magnificent for them but the relationship became a victim of its own success. No one should ever be bigger than the club but Messi was. Apparently he had huge influence in transfers, manager/coach appointments and tactics. He was undermining the management team. I think a split is needed for Barca to rebuild and maybe should of come a couple of years ago.

26th August 2020 at 7:39 am in reply to: Harry “come on then if you think you’re hard enough” McGuire #161664I don’t know Sean, we will never know exactly what happened but seemingly nice young guys can turn to total a-holes after a few beers. A few years ago Ledley King was arrested (I think for d+d) and spent the night in jail. I was told he kept shouting things like “You know who I am bruv? You know how much money I have? I earn more in a week than you do in a year” to the custody Sergeant. And yet Ledley always seemed a nice enough chap.
There’s a whole load of stories going round. Utd fans defending him with stories that he was just looking out for his sister who had been injected and that the Officer he assaulted was undercover and mistaken as one of the Albanians. Others are pointing at the lack of evidence that she was even injected, the lack of puncture wound or needle, or that she even refused a blood test. The things he apparently said differ from whose typed it and what their agenda is. How anyone other than those present know all this I will never know. What I do know is if I or someone close to me had been injected I would seek immediate medical help and demand for everything possible to be checked for, but then maybe that happen anyway.

25th August 2020 at 5:47 pm in reply to: Harry “come on then if you think you’re hard enough” McGuire #161607Yeah but I don’t think he got arrested for that. If he did it would be affray or whatever the greek equivalent is. Assaulting a police officer is never a good idea no matter how much money you have.

25th August 2020 at 5:43 pm in reply to: Harry “come on then if you think you’re hard enough” McGuire #161604Sean you would assault a Police Officer if your sister was spiked? What logic is that?

25th August 2020 at 5:42 pm in reply to: Harry “come on then if you think you’re hard enough” McGuire #161603Taken from The Guardian:
“Under Greece’s penal code, Maguire could face a three-year sentence but is likely to be spared as a result of a scheme that allows defendants to convert their sentences into “paid” penalties.”
So a big fine most likely.

Be interesting to see what punishment he gets.
What an idiot.

1. Liverpool. Team is still coming into its peak and the next best has 18 points to claw back. We will miss the home crowds more than our rivals however.
2. Chelsea. Made a lot of signings. Will they gel? Will they have time before the season starts to do so? Will they regret spending so much when we go a full season with no gate receipts? On paper a very strong squad.
3. City. Aging key players and I don’t rate Pep as someone that can build a team. I feel this could be his last season in England. Still enough quality to keep Utd at bay.
4. Utd. Starting to out together a good squad but I still have no idea what style they are trying to play and for that don’t rate ole.
Surprise. Leeds. Probably not much of a surprise after reading other comments!
Relegated. Brighton, Fulham and West Brom. Fairly predicable selection!
CL. Have a bad feeling PSG will get their grubby tainted hands on it this season.

Some of the tactical analysts done by the echo are actually pretty good. Clearly there are people there that have good knowledge of the game. But it let’s itself down when it publishes stuff by Alderidge. I think he makes liverpool fans cringe with his full on bias backed with little actual content.
I wouldn’t venture onto the MEN expecting any story about Klopps or Liverpool to paint them in a positive light.

Can’t stand Neymar either. I think Mbappe against Bayerns high line will have a field day. Having said that I can’t see Bayern not scoring either.
I’m not exactly a fan of Bayern but I’d rather they won it. Proper club with history rather than a a fake one with drama queen players bought with oil money by a questionable regime to the delight of their entitled thinking fans.
How many times do we think Neymar will take a tumble tonight? Such a naturally talented player who could of been spoken about in the same breath as Messi or Ronaldo but let’s himself down badly with the theatricals.

Adlab and another case of self pity City. As sean says if you don’t like it don’t read it. City have probably the most vile and toxic fan forum on the Internet where they go way beyond what most fans would call banter. What I have read I’ve found disgusting but you know what I do? I don’t read it and certainly don’t let it get to me. Their lack of obvious intellect actually amuses me.

22nd August 2020 at 9:01 pm in reply to: Harry “come on then if you think you’re hard enough” McGuire #158999From what I read he was arrested for physically and verbally abusing a Police officer not because a fight with someone that allegedly stabbed his sister. I can imagine that could wind you up a little bur I would have thought the normal action would be that after making sure she is OK to call the police and get the perpetrators dealt with. So sorry disagree with those that think his alleged actions were justified because of the stabbing.
Incidentally I’m currently being as dumb as a box of frogs ? (sure it should be mad as…) by going on the piss on the Greek island of Crete. Loads of drunk brit kiddies with no Corona sense whatsoever. The nightclubs are defying the laws by letting everyone on the dance floor. Bar workers high fiving everyone and no one wearing a mask. Crazy. And so much wobbly flesh on show! ?

Its not a uefa rule per se, more or a Premier League rule. In Serie A there are far more loanees spread amongst the teams so having the Premier League rule would cause many problems.
Im sure Chelsea fans can remember a few years ago when they faced Atletico Madrid with Courtois in goal.

In the league Bayern and RBL shared the points for both games although the former won convincingly in the cup but its clear they are well matched. Having said that if you look at Hans-Dieter Flick’s record at Bayern it’s actually rather exceptional after he turned a team needing a rebuild into Europe’s most in form team.

I’m guessing Adlab will be back on the null and void bandwagon after this!
This wasn’t a tale of individual mistakes by City players as some fans will have you believe, Pep got it simply wrong. He has a number of times this season already. He is a champion of the plan A when plan A is working and spanking relegation fodder eight nil but a chump at plan B or C. I didn’t catch the first half but sounds like he started with plan C!
Ederson, most over rated goalie in the PL? So good with the ball at his feet he could play midfield but maybe pretty poor at actual goal keeping? That 3rd goal he should of held, that’s just basic keeping skills that you’d expect from any PL keeper. Not the first time for City either.

Ed, cannot comment on Mkhitaryan as cannot really remember the circumstances but Dembele kicked up a right stink after being told he wouldn’t be sold.
From what I’ve read Sancho is unlikely to do that apparently.
Some Sky reported has said after BvB said Sancho would remain at the club for next season:
“Sancho is not the kind of character who will kick up a fuss, put in a transfer request or develop a mysterious injury to force through a move.
“It would suit United for him to agitate, but while they still have not actually made an offer for him, why would he?
“The player can only keep his head down and keep working hard, looking ahead to the new season with Dortmund.
“He is young, he has a great thing going there, and in the background he knows most of Europe’s big clubs – Real Madrid, Barcelona, Liverpool, Paris Saint-Germain – would love to sign him at some stage.
“He can afford to sit tight and watch how things develop between the clubs.”
I can understand why Utd fans are clinging onto the hope of signing him he would give the club a massive lift but I think you (and Sean!) will be disappointed. If you do I will admit I was wrong, congratulate you but also tell you I never rated him in the first place!! 😉
