I guess any loan player, probably needing to be home grown, will be lesser quality than Williams and Phillips.

I don’t think Everton have come out and said life isn’t important (a touch over dramatic comment however when you consider how low a risk to life professional footballer face from Covid), you’re just using that as a stick to bash Everton with because you feel aggrieved by their actions. Actions I believe every club would do. As for the greed accusations that is ridiculous. If you are so against football playing at the moment why are you continuing to post about City and their league and Cup ambitions for the season? Hypocritical perhaps?
I read if City cannot play their league Cup game they will not forfeit it, odd given that Spurs were given a bye when Leyton Orient couldn’t play for the exact same reasons.

Really don’t understand the issue with Everton. Sure if the roles were reversed City would ask the question.

Sean I assume you mean Matip out for the season? Where have you read that? It looked like a family routine abductor strain which would put him out for a couple of weeks.
Regarding transfers none of you should get your hopes up too much, we are skint. We have already offset future budgets with the large purchase of Jota so any further large transfers would be stupid in these financially uncertain times. And if they are not home grown I am fairly sure we have no room for them unless we offload someone first, most likely Origi or Shaq. If they are home grown expect a huge mark up on their price.
Loans of the quality we need will be very difficult, what teams can afford to let a quality centre back go with the crazy schedules every team is facing? Probably better off with what we have at the moment.

Villa have been superb this season, especially considering how close they were to relegation last time. They even managed to sneak a win against the champions in closely fought contest!
I think the intensity of the so called top teams has dropped due to the hectic schedule and wintery conditions. I expect many more soft tissue injuries for all players in the coming weeks.

I still think both Werner and Havertz were signed without considering how they fit in the team. Chelsea play 433 right? Or at least seem to every time I’ve seen them. Both those players would fit a 4231 much better but then Mount would be benched.
I think for RBL Werner played in a 3412 were he could drift into the channels.

Utd have a fantastic away record this season but Leicester will be happy to sit deep, conceded possession and hit on the break even at home. Utd have struggled to open up such teams in the past so I don’t see it as a forgone conclusion that they will win.
Should be easy wins for both City and Liverpool. City game will be like an attack versus defence training match.
Arsenal v Chelsea is very intriguing. Both teams out of form and desperate to get back on track. Arsenal probably the more desperate as talk of a relegation battle surfaces!

Liverpool are skint and I think are at their non home grown squad quota so I wouldn’t expect anyone in for the first team until someone like Origi or Shaq goes.

Sorry Sean agree with HH about VdB. Its the transfer that is being judged not the player. So if they spent loads getting him and then he doesn’t play even though he is fit ana available then surely that’s a poor transfer? Same as buying a known wold class player that doesn’t gell or suit the system, that’s a poor transfer even of the player is actually very good.

Bit harsh on Thiago, he got walloped by an Everton thug, not really his or Liverpool’s fault that he hasn’t played much. And of those 135 mins I’d say at least 90 of them were very very good.
Werner has been underwhelming for the cost and reputation. But Silva has been good for Chelsea hasn’t he, nomination for the best category?

Brian just because you don’t like it doesn’t mean its a waste of money, probably highlighted by the large viewing figures it gets every single year.
I cannot see past Hamilton, he has been outstanding. Football is a team game so I never agree with their nominations.

It was a nice goal, everyone thinks he will hit it first time but he sold them a faint and then buried it in the corner. Hope the sun goes away its right in Alisson’s eyes.

This is probably a load of rubbish but hope Salah isn’t dropped because of a fall out with Klopp. I more likely that Klopp thinks Place will tire later on and bring Salah on will be very effective. We have 8 days till our next game so I don’t think its to rest him unless its look at season long fatigue rather than the immediate.

There’s more than one way to win a match. Spurs were a post width away from taking the lead, something which could of lead them a win at the home of the reigning champions which hasn’t seen a home defeat for 60 odd games. If they had we would of been overloaded by “another Jose tactical masterclass” in the media. It may not be most enjoyable to watch but it was very nearly executed perfectly. If he came and had a go who knows he may of won, or he may of shipped 4 goals and been humiliated. Hindsight is a wonderful thing when judging performance.
Having said all that it does make me smile when a team that time wastes then concedes very late and are now the ones rushing about.

As an expat living in Germany I get asked all the time about Brexit. “What were you guys thinking?!”, I can only shrug and apologise. Then they laugh. A lot. My country that I am proud that I was born in and served is now the laughing stock of Europe. Only the US and Trump gets more comedy coverage! I now tell people that I am Irish-British and trying to be more on the Irish side of it, if only I could nail the accent! (thank you Good Friday agreement!)
Although I voted to remain I am one of the few that will actually come out better off. I often send money from my DE bank to my UK one and when I first arrived it was 1.4EUR to the Pound. Now it’s around 1.1 and I get that lovely feeling of knowing just how far my Euro goes. I hate to think what you guys think when you go on your holibobs to Costa del Sol or wherever!
Anyway to get back to the theme of the thread, yes there will be job losses in Germany and the rest of Europe if no deal is agreed, yes it’s probably best if they could agree something but the general feeling is that no one really that much cares about the UK, you’re just not that important anymore, and that the rest of Europe will be ok without you.
