Rumours are we’ve rejected their first offer of 70m. I know it’s natural to reject first offers but 70m is a lot of money for someone that clearly isn’t in Slot’s plans. Apparently Edwards is handling it instead of Hughes (not sure I believe that) and that Al Hilal want him for the summers Club World Cup which would mean they need to buy him during this winters window.
Who to replace him? As he hasn’t played much you could go for a like for like bench warmer and promote the very talented Danns to get occasional PL minutes, but maybe he still needs to develop physically first. But I think we need a striker and as I’ve said Osimhen has been mentioned by an ITK but he wanted 400k to join Chelsea in the summer so can’t see it happening myself. Maybe the well trodden path from Leipzig to Liverpool? If we want a highly mobile striker there’s Openda, or a big but skilful player to operate more in the box in Sesko. I’d go for Sesko I think.

Nunez to Al Hilal! Personal terms agreed. 400k per week or something stupid.

5 without coceeding. There’s a 2-1 in the 7 I think at least.
So what went wrong for Nuno at Spurs? Only 4 months wasn’t it? Maybe it’s just his style is more acceptable at Forset than at Spurs?

Surely 3rd vs 1st is pick of the bunch, not Arsenal vs some mid table fodder?
Forest’s form is unreal. 5 wins in a row without concededing if you include the cup game. I wish them all the best in getting top 4 (apart from Tuesday), refreshing to see them do well. If being cynical you could say the PSR breach and ponts deduction was well worth it!

Kvara confirmed by Conte that he has demanded to move this window, but looks increasingly likely it will be to PSG. Would be a big same if we miss him.
Elliot and Doak might be off? Like them both but they will give large profits that hopefully be put towards targets. Doesn’t affect the HG this season but I think Elliot would be next season.

Yeah Nil Kvaratskhelia rumours all over the place at the moment. Also hearing Diaz is some way off renewing so maybe it’s a Mane/Diaz situation where we get a player in January to replace a player to be sold in the summer. Kvaradona is a brilliant player however, I would suggest an upgrade on both Diaz and Gakpo.
I don’t think we are actively pursuing him it’s more if the opportunity arises for a deal we will be interested as he’s a player we’ve admired for a couple of seasons. Will be more than us if he is in fact available.
Can’t see us getting him and Osimhen mind. The ITK was Macca if anyone here knows of him, very much respected ITK.

Just heard from a respected ‘ITK’ that if, and that’s a big if, the Saudi’s come in for Nunez this window we will go for Osimhen with his 63m release clause and laon break clause.
I know the echo said something today about Osimhen but this ITK info adds weight to the speculation.

What I am saying he is a similar type of technical, less physical player although at a higher level.
Football is never about who is best player, it’s about how the players played as a unit. And the last couple of games that midfield unit has been terrible in the defensive part, being bullied or played through. It could have been better if a better combination of players were used, not two of the more technical minded, less physical ones.
Madrid ok I give you that, any top PL opposition where it is known to be more physical?

MacAllister is a talented footballer and he usually does one or two great things in a match that fans remember but it’s the things like pressing he’s not so good at and people dont usally notice.
I don’t think he’s tough at all, weak and throws himself to the floor usually when brushed off the ball. Plus pretty slow. Technically very good however, same Jones and Elliot.
Play him or Jones with Szoboszlai and Gravenberch and its fine, the other two can mask the deficiencies. But those two together against a strong midfield they are bullied and Gravenberch overwhelmed, example the last two games.
Elliot is similar but even weaker and would need two strong CMs ( which Slot refuses to do as the only other is Endo). Maybe this is why he isn’t trusted? He doesn’t fit the system with our current players.
What matches have Jones and MacAllister played together and been dominate? Was it against a top level midfield or games where Liverpool would dominate no matter who was playing?

Sean, not sure Gravenberch is struggling and needs a break. He had MacAllister and Jones also in midfield and whilst I like both players neither are particularly physical. What has been apparent in the two (yes only two despite the hysteria) bad games recently is the lack of press and poor midfield.
People go on about individuals and I’ve seen the rather toxic and BS comments from one individual on TT who clearly has an agenda against TAA, but usually when a team has a bad game its the midfield that is lacking. Those two are good players but they cannot be picked together as it leaves Gravenberch far too exposed as they are not the best at the press, both neither strong or fast. Opposition midfield can bully or play around us as we have seen.
This is why we have missed Szoboszlai and his physicality so much and he was the one I highlighted as a major influence against utd before I knew he was ill. Also the reason I would like to see a Baleba or Tchouameni type to work alongside Gravenberch against strong midfields.

Two wrongs don’t make a right, your scorer shouldn’t have been on the pitch.

Looked a 2nd yellow for the tackle against Tsimikas.
Ironically he then scores…

Nil we haven’t played right midfield for about 20 years! And why do you keep mentioning a high line? You know why nearly all top teams play with one right?
Regarding all this Trent stuff, would just like to point out that Dalot and Fernandes played very well yesterday on that side of the pitch. Whilst Trent (and Konate) had a stinker and made mistakes those two took advantage to heavily influence the game and get a result. Sometimes you have to appreciate the opposite rather then just criticise your own team.
Utd are still crap mind… 😄

Maybe it is Sean, or maybe all thr abuse he is getting is affecting him? I just think he had a stinker of a game, it happens. He’s not long back from injury but those games recently he was pretty good. Didn’t see too many issues with the performance or contact issues when we smashed WHU five nil. I think ‘fans’ are just waiting for him to have a bad game to to vent abuse that meets their agenda.
People spend too much time looking at his deficiencies without appreciating what he brings to the game overall. The left full back area is a more pressing concern performance wise to me.

Nil he had a very poor game that’s all, so did a few others. You’re jumping on the “Bertie big balls” bandwagon it seems.
As foe the haters, just take a look at other forums. If I were Trent I’d raise two fingers to these so called fans as I were mounting the steps to a private jet bound for Madrid and no doubt countless medals. Some absolutely terrible ‘fan’ behaviour to one of our own players.

We are not constantly being roasted down the right at all. Before Konate’s injury we were very secure down that side and Trent was playing well both forwards and backwards. That injury and a drop off from Robertson (who I always said wouldn’t suit Slots tactics that well) has led to more chances being created especially today when Konate was all over place at times. I see the Trent haters are out in force but he wasn’t the only poor player today, that 2nd goal was down to Konate.
Going forward we are much slicker and unpredictable, last season we would compress to a very narrow box around the D and it was easy to defend against. Defensively we are more compact. Klopp had the midfield all over the place when possesion was lost which led to many chances to carve the CBs open, now less so although it has crept back a little probably due to injuries.
One area I’d improve is the 2 CM, but instead of getting a DM destroyer like most fans want I’d get a similar athletic player to Grav. Caicedo would have been ideal, but for this season Baleba seems to be the new favorite. MacAllister is good on the ball but not physical or fast enough for the CM role, plus too theatrical, he should play the 10.

Ed, its one game, a game where too many of our players especially st the back where off it. Watch us over the season and you’d see we have been worthy of leading the table. Whether we win it or not only time will tell, but you can’t judge us on the one time you’ve watched us for 90 minutes.
If you watched us at home against Forest you’d be even more underwhelmed. Even the City and Liverpool 95+ point teams underwhelmed at some point.

If you believe what is said then the Liverpool section of the crowd will be influenced by the flights from Norway and Dublin going ahead or not.

Being an ex-pat living on the continent I do laugh at how the uk grinds to a halt because of a little snow. Here in Germany an army of snowmobiles would have cleared everything including footpaths long before most people were awake.
We will find out very soon. But as the trains are back running I’m guessing it’s on.
