That’s a great draw Ed, well for everyone else. Barca are not to be feared as they once were and I wouldn’t say there was a clear favorite.

Massive ties with Liverpool vs Madrid and Bayern vs PSG, either worthy of a final as 2 of the last 3 prove . On the flip side there’s Brugge Vs Benfica.
City have this cold/hot ball thing down to an art π€£

If that’s deemed contact enough for a foul we ahould give fouls every 10 seconds of the game. It’s a contact sport and that was a blatant cheat and very poor refereeing. If Salah did that the City fans even on here would be in disgust. Blueson your comment was the only one showing a lack of class.

Just seen it, yeah thats a pretty terrible dive by De Bruyne. Not sure what previous decisions or finding it tough playing with 10 men have to do with a poor refereeing decision and unsportsmanlike conduct. VAR not get involved? Not that I would have any confidence in that coming to a correct decision either!

Actually surprised at Belguim being so unfancied at 14/1. Did they miss the boat with their golden generation?

Out of obligation I guess I’ll cheer on Germany if I can be bothered to watch any of it without feeling like a massive hypocrit.
Chucky you mention Belguim as a dark horse? Surely they are one of the best at the moment and one of the fsvorites. Rather boringly I would predict France as the winners however.
England would be up their if they didn’t have the most boring manager ever to set foot on this planet. Have some very strong players minus perhaps at centr back and goalie.
I’m sure nine will be along very shortly with the latest odds…

Brighton lost star players in the summer, lost their manager since but still play very good football. I don’t know much about this new manager of theirs but the times I’ve seen them they’ve had great movement and energy and he has to take credit.

How many footballers from decades gone by are they going to drag out to say how βthis wouldnβt have happened in my dayβ?
Well I do remember seeing old black and white footage of that bygone legend Charles Charlie Charles showboat a fair bit. He got caught a few times if I remember correctly.
The thing about that bit of showboating and correctly me if I’m wrong I’ve only seen snippets of it, is that the resulting pass went out of play. Wasn’t exactly a wow looking piece of skill either. Ten Hag looked less than amused.
If Utd come 2nd they go into some sort of extra round play off against a CL drop out or did I dream that? Hope not would be a weird dream to be honest!

Man utd, Liverpool even Nottingham Forest spent big in the past but not on the scale we are now seeing with City. In the case of Liverpool and Utd a lot of that money would be self generated, they were already big clubs that expanded.
City, Chelsea, PSG, RBL, Hoffenheim (the last 2 to a much lesser scale, probably loads more) all bought their way to a level they most likely would not achieve without massive investment from an external source. They won the lottery and didn’t earn their success. And that’s not even taking into account some of the owners questionable morals.
If City didn’t have the investment from their owners what would they be, mid table at best? Chelsea? Maybe competing with Spurs as London’s second best team? We will never know but it’s understandable why fans of other team look at their success with such contempt.
My concerns is City will go and buy another 100m bench warmer, or pay someone nearly 1m a week every season and the PL will become a foregone conclusion. Maybe it already is.

Regarding spending its always the same, the fans who support clubs that don’t have a bottomless pit are against it and the ones that do rather hilariously turn a blind eye. My worry is the Premier League becomes another so called farmers league with City winning everything every season. We are almost there already to be honest, thank whatever deity you follow for Liverpool at least breaking the domination once and running them close other times.
Although no doubt Necastle can now buy whoever they want they have been rather modest so far. Maybe it’s a case of top players not wanting to go to such a team until they gain more status, probably by getting in the CL. They do have possibly the best midfielder in the league mind in Bruno Guimaraes. Also Howe has really surprised me, doing a great job.

442 nil with Firmino Salah and Nunez all playing? For me either a 4231 or a 433 with Nunez on the left but not sure Carvalho would be the best choice in a middle 3. More likely 4231, we see very soon I guess.

I started with CM Italia back when C4 were showing the games. Was some great Italian teams then. Then enjoyed the slightly more recent ones with legends like Tonton Zola Moukoko and Cherno Samba. But I felt the series made some mistakes which things like what you say to the media seemingly the most important influence on a game. And no matter what tactic I used the result was always the same, almost predetermined.
New one out in a couple of weeks, won’t be getting it. Might reinstall one of the old ones I have on Steam however, think 01 is the oldest.

Normally I would be fairly confident and excited going into a game against City especially at home but not this time. Our heavy metal pressing style especially roared on by the Anfield crowd was a krptonite to Peps tika taka but that has sadly gone.
An aging midfield will be part of the problem but this has been a lengthy transition to a possession style that for some reason Klopp has decided on. I believe the signing of Thiago was the start of it, and whilst an exceptional player he is the wrong one for us. You can also see this change in tactic with TAA moving central to utilise his passing ability but that causes major issues when possesion is turned over and players cannot cover. Doesn’t help that Thiago and Fabinho sprint like old grannies these days!
I was against the signing of Nunez from the beginning as he was the wrong one for our team and nothing has happened to change my mind. He will not work in a 433 pressing team and we will not beat City without that pressing. He also takes up space that Salah would normally attack, again something I mentioned at the start of the season only to be told I don’t know what I’m talking about.
We seem to be a team caught between two styles with some players suited for pressing and some for possession. Result is we are not the team we once were with no fluency or intensity.
4-0 City tomorrow and some serious questions being asked at Anfield.

Along with Hightowns example I’d also suggest the lower clubs might struggle to attract new fans if premier-league games are being shown at the same time. Pop down to Cheltenham with your old man or watch Utd or whoever on tv with your school mates? It could hit the lower teams in a few years.
Over here in DE all Bundesliga games are on either Sky or Dazn no matter what time they kick off. Sky has I think 10 Bundesliga channels. All Bundesliga 2 games too I think and all for only 10eur extra. Nearly all Premier league games are shown no matter what kick off time, if there’s a conflict they just open up one of reserve Sky sports channels tk show it.

My point was more of another VAR farce rather than a review of the game.

I don’t think Liverpool played particularly well against Arsenal but luck certainly seemed against us.
The handball? Debatable but seen them given.
The Arsenal pen? Weak is an overstatement.
But one thing I’ve only just discovered was that the var lines were not calibrated in time to use for the Arsenal first goal. Using my trusty mark 1 eye ball it looked very tight and I was surprised they didn’t put the lines down, even if dodgy hand drawn to fit an agenda lines we’ve all seen before. Now I know why.
