People often forget about the costs of a football club besides transfers.
Old Trafford and I’d assume the training facilities too have been left neglected for many years. If you save money on one area you have more to spend elsewhere.
Liverpool are in the middle of another big stadium upgrade and have in the last few years spent a fair amount upgrading the training facilities. That needs to be paid for from somewhere.
Arsenal’s stadium is still fairly new and I assume paid for? So they don’t need to put aside funds in to infrastructure. They are reaping the rewards now of their earlier upgrades.
City can just syphon off another billion or two from the Sheik and not think anything of it.
Spurs are just Spurs.

Interesting if you have a spare hour or so. Maybe not so much for City fans.

LIV owned by NUFCs owners or closely linked are they not? Think the Qatar WC has opened the Arab world as to what can be done when you throw millions of petrol dollars at bringing the best the no 1 sport in the world has to offer to their kingdoms.

Disagree, these wages and fees are sustainable over there and I got a feeling its all part of a plan to win the 2030 World Cup, plus we all know how much Infantino loves his petrol scented brown envelopes.
Didn’t Ronaldo say something along the lines that Saudi Arabia will have a top 4 or 5 league in just a few years after he went?
Edit: disagree to Steveo not chucky

Not heard him for a few years personally but from what I can gather he won’t be missed. One of my favorites from the RAWK forum “did liverpool just score or did Martin Tyler’s dog just die?”

Chelsea need to offload a load of players and you’d think they’d hold back on the spending until they’ve gone. Could really blow up in their faces with this crazy spending approach.

Tugay, I would guess you could extend that to most utd fans that want Qatar are glory hunters. Admit a lot of non-UK utd fans will fall into this, but there will a fair number still in the UK (who haven’t defected to City yet).
Those fans just crave success at any cost. I think a lot of utd, Liverpool and arsenal fans would object because they know what it feels like to win untainted. City fans will never know.
Ed hit the nail on the head when he said City and Newcastle were ideal for take over because their fans craved success after years of being pretty insignificant when handing out trophies despite being a fairly big club. Blind them with shiney new toys and the promise of trophies and see how they will believe anything you tell them.
Instead of City it could easily have been Everton, or dare I say it, Spurs.

The last few Chelea Liverppol games have been shockers! They can only surely improve.
Think a lot will depend on how well a team is prepared from the preseason. Last season we looked inconsistent during the preseason games and carried that into the first games. Read we are doing our far East tour closer to the season start this time to try and hit the start at full fitness. Hopefully we get all transfer business done early

3rd June 2023 at 8:02 pm in reply to: FA Cup 2023 – Manchester City V Manchester United – Saturday 3pm #207238“You canβt begrudge it when it comes to what they do on the pitch.”
Buy you can begrudge how they got those players onto the pitch in the first place.
Chalk up another asterix next to this one.
I do feel a little unwashed after wanting a Utd win! They have improved but I think overall the league was a poor standard this season which made Utd look better than they should. Some of their play is pretty poor with the occasional moment of skill, often enough to win matches.
Dont think Mount is the solution. A box to box midfielder and top striker should be their priority, and maybe some defenders and a new keeper too!

Kane to Newcastle would be an incredible signing. Not only would Newcastle get an elite striker but it would be a huge statement, telling everyone one they can compete with the big boys now.
Geordies love their strikers so he would be idolised there I’m sure.

Personally I don’t care so much if a club spends billions, it’s where the money comes from.
Utd did spend an absolute huge amount but they managed to tap in commercially to the start of the Premier league with a squad of generational youngsters. It was a perfect storm for them. They have traditionally always been a huge well supported club too.
The enquiry is still ongoing but let’s be honest, City have cheated their way to wealth. They got away on a technicality last time but could not prove to anyone they were innocent. Any success they had or continue to have should have an asterisk next to it.
It’s like going on football manager editor and giving yourself unlimited funds. Now you have zero financial risk when buying a player. Doesn’t work out? Just replace him with another 50m player next time. Player or manager not interested? Pay him twice as much as anyone else , just don’t put all of it on the payroll!
City are financially doped and have brought the game into disrepute. They have shown zero respect for anyone else in their obscene quest for glory. All in the name of sportswashing which sadly has with the aid of unprecedented success brainwashed the Man City faithful.
And please I know it makes debates easy but stop going on about “net spend”. Football transfers is never as simple as made out on here. Look at wages, agent fees, parent fees, offshore payments, signing on fees, doped sponsorship payments, bonuses…

“Or was Mancini really worth 3.5 million for being massaged for 2 days in a 5 star hotel in Abu Dhabi?”
I assume for that price it came with a happy ending?
Not wanting to get involved I another anti City session but agree with a lot of what chucky said about the season being a bit of a damp squib. It’s no longer about who plays the best or coached the best it’s whose owning state invests the most. If dominance continues fans will walk.

“Everything weβve won.Weβve won it on the pitch.”
No denying that. But how did you get those players on the pitch?
Utd have dominated before and spent tons of money but how they got that money compared to City is vastly different. Utd is and always has been a massive club. City? Never been never will be, not to the levels of Utd and Liverpool.

Horrible season for most teams but at least we can again put an asterisk next to the winners. About as legitimate and honorable winners as Lance Armstrong was when he dominated. Different type of doping, but still doping. Zero respect.
CL final to come where I will be cheering on Inter although not holding onto much hope.
Fa cup? Do what I did when Mourinho’s Chelsea played Man utd and hope there’s some external event that will null and void the match. Technicality that means erasing the whole competition from the records or something.
Probably best to accept a City Treble and put all my hope in the Premier League legal team. Maybe Der Spiegel can work some of their magic again too for the European competition.

Utd look awful. Just that Chelsea are a little more awful. Two simple chances fluffed especially Murdyk a minute or so before Casemiro’s free header. Two poor teams.

That’s very disappointing from Reina.
Tebas is clearly an idiot and completely clueless when it comes to tackling racism. Not sure on this is the reason he hates City, I mean I hate them and I’m not a racist!
But Spain has had a problem for a while. I remember at the F1 some “fans” blackening their faces to abuse Hamilton.
Did you hear the journalist ask Klopp if Vini Jr brings it on himself? Was a good reply from Klopp.
Even Guardiola has made a few unwelcome comments. .
