No team has ever complained of a decision going their way, although I get your point.
When Diaz’s goal was wrongly not given (due to an issue that was beyond simple interpretation) you know how much abuse and piss taking Liverpool and their fans received? Yet it never occurred to these people that highlighting every mistake no matter which teams are involved can only benefit everyone in the long run.
Unfortunately some mistakes are held with greater weight by broadcasters and journalists than others depending on the situation. They dont care about improving the game, they just want to sell a story.

The Romero handball vs Utd in my opinion definitely a pen. But we’ve seen many handballs situations like that all season (and last) and it’s probably a bit boring. But underdog Wolves denied a clear penalty at the mighty Theatre of Dreams? Now that is a story that will get clicks and people talking.
Don’t think there’s an agenda against Utd.

I don’t think Wolves fans will show much sympathy towards Utd to be honest. You can thank VAR for giving you a home win!
The handball rule will always cause debate. If the ball is blasted at a player from close range should it be a pen? Depends on their arm positions in my opinion. Natural then no, making themselves bigger then yes. Pointing for whatever reason in the first few seconds of a CL final then definitely yes.

6th November 2023 at 8:03 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210614Luton played their tactics to almost perfection, they won’t be the only team that sets up that way against us.
They deserve credit.

6th November 2023 at 5:30 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #2106094231 keeps your wide players out wide and that not where you want Salah. This box midfield 433/3223 also has this issue but that is mitigated by Szoboszlai going out to the right giving Salah space to move more central. Yesterday Luton didn’t give any space for either of those players to execute that.
Robertson has been poor since we introduced this new tactic as it restricts his dynamic play. His role is to transition into a left sided CB with Trent going into a double pivot 6. So no width is provided at all by fullbacks and during our successful seasons he provide a lot down the left.
There are occasions when the box midfield works very well but against a tightly packed low block defence it is easy to defend against. Everything goes through the middle so just block off the space. There’s not much lateral moving of the ball to try and shift the defenders about as there’s no wide players to move the ball to.
I think it’s either stubbornness or arrogance from Klopp and Ljinders that cost points yesterday as they continued with this tactic. I mention Ljinders as this tactic is his baby.

5th November 2023 at 8:57 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210605Nil Trent doesn’t “stray” into midfield he’s under direct instructions from Klopp and Ljinders to do so. They are to blame, not Gomez or Trent or whoever else.
CM don’t think Nunez ever lacks confidence, just composure. I think he will always be an inconsistent striker and not what was ever suited to Liverpool. He thrives in space and its very unlikely any team will set up to afford liverpool that.

5th November 2023 at 8:57 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210557If you draw a vertical plane up from the edge of the line it will intersect a small outer portion of the ball.
But that is subjective and open to how someone reads it, just my opinion. Hence no obvious mistake as without a correct angle directly above no one can say for sure.

No it doesn’t. You have to take the full diameter of the ball in a view from above which sadly there is no camera to do so. Its not the ball contact area versus the line. That looks in to me.

5th November 2023 at 8:26 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210553I said at the time if City’s was a penalty then there should be several penalties per game for similar offences.
I’m never one to go down conspiracy routes but PGMOL should ban refs taking payments elsewhere. Even if its completely innocent whenever something like this happens it brings the refs intergrity and the game into disrepute.

5th November 2023 at 8:12 am in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210549Thr ball going out cannot be judged from what we saw, so to me that is not a clear and obvious mistake to rectify. Keys and Gray put up a graphic showing it was actually still in, see screenshot.
Apparently they couldn’t judge the offside because they couldn’t get a decent view of when the ball was touched on, so they had no choice but to go with the on field decision.
The foul they said not nough evidence to indicate a clear and obvious mistake to change the on field decision. To me this was the biggest balls up as how you cannot think someone pushing some else out of the way with two hands isn’t a foul is crazy.
The handball I think was completely missed. Probably flapping so much about everything else they didn’t even look at it.
Arsenal should demand that the audio is released to the benefit of every club. Oh and ask for a replay that really winds people up! 😃

4th November 2023 at 1:05 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210522As a liverpool fan I love to see misery piled onto Utd as I’m sure their fans do to liverpool but even I thought that offside was wrong.
Utd all the possesion but look very open to a good counter. Question is do Fulham have the quality to keep them out and then provide a cutting edge?

4th November 2023 at 12:31 pm in reply to: Weekend Football – Gameweek 11 Sparklers and Fireworks :-) #210518That has to be one of the worst Utd teams I ever seen for a league game. That midfield!
Probably win comfortably now…

Doing it in a farmers league like the French one means nothing. If Muani put the ball away in the last few seconds in the final and France won then Mbappe would probably get the award for the hattrick alone. If it went on actual year long performances then one of the City players should have won, probably Haaland.
Martinez getting the keepers award purely on the world cup. He’s not even in the top 5 keepers in the PL!
Also think whatever Messi does comes weighted with some journalists. He could walk on the pitch, take a dump in the centre circle and walk off and I’m sure some would still give him man of the match!

Too early to say if Ange will be a good appointment being top after 10 games isn’t enough. But what it does look like that Spurs recruited very well this summer. Vicario, van der Ven and Maddison especially have really aettled in quickly. Not exactly superstars, but the right players bought for a system.
Compare that to Utd who brought in Mount when everyone could see he wouldn’t work in a midfield with Fernandes. Onana can be brilliant one moment and terrible the next, he’s the Darwin Nunez of the goalkeeping world! Maybe these players will work out but I feel at Utd there’s little time for a player to adapt.
Who was the last brilliant signing Utd made? Hojlund? Not for me, not yet. Not scored yet in the PL I think?

If that’s a penalty then there’ll be 5 or 6 penalties per game!
Don’t think it would of affected the outcome there was a massive gulf in class between the two however. I only switched on after the final whistle at anfield just in time for the penalty but it looked like a City training session at times and I think they had several gears to go up if needed.

If you need to appoint a manager that’s done something who is available? Pep and Klopp clearly untouchable, who else is there? Zidane? Ancellotti? They’ve both won things but doubt either would be a popular choice. Even Tuchel and Nagelsmann, both I would describe as winners, were sacked fairly recently. Utd went down the experienced route before with van Gaal and Mourinho and they were both deemed prehistoric in the their play styles.
De Zebri has taken Potters work and enhanced it further. If backed and with like minded staff around and crucially above him he could work wonders at utd if given that most precious commodity, time. He would be my choice to succeed Klopp if Klopp stood down right now.
Sometimes you need to take a chance on a smaller name with good ideas and back 100%. Maybe that man still is ETH but he needs better support around, beneath and above him.

Think most people had Casemiro in their best team last season but from what I can gather he’s looking very much his age now. He plays such an important role and to have him easily bypassed will always lead to chances.

Remember Sean we are only ever one loss away from Chucky stating he’s had enough of football and is walking away. Then he’ll be back in a week with his oh so cute little nicknames he gives to every player or team. Rinse/repeat and bore everyone to death.
