Might be worth considering that an average of 18 points were dropped in similar periods over the last 5 years ( just 12 last season) so it could yet be an interesting Spring if United is able to keep its foot on the gas and keeps on winning. Seems unlikely but could yet be a bit tighter than many folks were expecting at year end if the mistakes aren’t eliminated.(I also wanted to say ‘remember it’s City we’re talking about’ but that’s heresy now so I won’t !).

Jim, maybe I’m looking through blue tinted specs but I’d humbly suggest that Colin Bell – and the similarities have been noted on here and elsewhere – got quite near on numerous occasions for City. His performance against Utd in the 1-3 at OT just ahead of the 1968 league title was possibly the stand out – and before he was kicked out of the match ( cf Dele Alli attempt on KdB yesterday which fortunately failed). But I recognise it’s difficult to compare and contrast over such a long time…

Yes a suitable tribute to the other 4-1 win against Spurs just over 50 years ago which remains the best game I ever saw at Maine Rd. If you weren’t there/haven’t seen it then please Google it and if you were there please watch it again and wonder how!

Oh dear Brian – senior moment! I mean of course Danilo who is currently providing a pale imitation of Dave Connor. It’s hard to think who Nolito was a pale imitation of.

Maybe it was inevitable that we would have players out for a spell. It happens every season, and (historically) to no good effect as we haven’t always coped well with it. I suppose we now have to be concerned about VK maintaining fitness over the longer term now. Otherwise presumably it’s two out of Otamendi/Mangala/Nolito/Delph and Pep would really earn his money if he was faced with that. Having said that, I’d be delighted if Mangala dissipated the pressure for Stones to return without being fully fit….

And presumably Mendy is out for the season or thereabouts. On knee injuries, I would have thought there were lots of things going on – harder pitche, wrongly designed (softer?) boots and increased speed of the game come to mind. Presumably emphasis on knee strengthening routines can help but it seems Clubs are some way from coming up with solutions to a nasty problem.Perhaps we should go back to mud heaps ( think Baseball Ground), proper leather boots and caseys!

I think most of us have been around long enough to never assume any positive result in any game involving City!!!

Hard to disagree but Pep may just roll the dice again and we have something approaching the team that beat Watford. Then again, he might think slightly longer term bearing in mind what comes along after this weekend.
