a very young and improving kid was better at a better club with more stars several years later when he had matured? and thats only because its easier to score against spanish teams?
my god this argument just took a swerve via daftsville…and im being kind in naming that town!
VVD wasnt a tenth as good at Southampton as he has been for the last 18months, so what?! it just means he is playing at a better club with better players and a better manager AND has improved as a player, really dont get this argument now…

im sure if we also looked at the record and goals scored for ALL british teams in the CL/EL against other spanish oppersition the results wouldnt favour the brits to the point of the Spanish legaue being a joke and easy to score against….

why cant you just be happy as fans to think a CB has come second ONLY to messi while steering you to a CL victory last year and a PL one this year? its this kind of over reaction to so many things connected with liverpool and their players that smacks of poor sportsmanship and starts to get niggly….i think VVD is AMAZING, had he won it id have been happy because he is that good, just this year, not quite as good as messi…and certainly not to all those actual professionals that vote for the one and dont base opinion on blindly following one team …i may rename Liverpool “Amerkin” after George Dubbya Bush when he said “American”….after all nothing exists outside of America for most “Amerkins”…and yes that does have another meaning 😉

you lads keep banging on about spain being less defensive, i suggest you read back through THIS thread and see the link the Ed posted that completly debunks that
NO ONE is saying that VVD is not among the best defenders ever and likley the best around at the momnet…BUT as good as that is it STILL not up there with what Messi has achieed in the same year….i think VVD own reaction and statement after the result says more than yours!

to be fair you only have to look at the stats provided for Messi in the LAST YEAR alone to see he deserved the prize,,,,VVD in second is about right IMHO really dont see what the continued issue is really…oh wait its pool fans about a pool player being unfairly treated by the big bad world of football 😉

im never sure on the FFP rules but isnt there something about it being spread over 3 seasons? if so could they buy big one year then not in 2 years to balance? looking at the liked of RM in the summer how could they spend so much? surely city can too and Juve and a few others have spent big in short windows too…?
what are they maximum figures each club can spend on transfers and stay within FFP? that would be interesting to know!
i know you have a much better understanding of all this 999 so hopefully you can enlighten me!;)

yeah very true and i think thats exactly what they did and they WILL benefit form it, even if only short term, i also think we might actually see a new Maureen (Levy depending) as he is running out of clubs to manage now (at the top anyway) and is getting to an age to want more of a legacy? who knows but he was the best available manager even if many fans dislike him as a person
wish we would get and announce our new man and dont leave it long…. or it will seem like there is no plan (and likley isnt!)

Leicester wont challenge for me, very good team, less of a good squad, if Vardy is injured off the bil they dont score enough and this year unlike the year they won it they have a real in form team with the best (uninjured) 1st 11. City need a revamp, the biggest loss for me will be Aguero, his record is unreal and especially important goals, then the ageing MF and defense, no doubt they will be back next year but i see this year being a struggle from now on (tho struggle for them is comfortable top 4 and a trophy) just not enough left in the tank this year for the PL …

im not saying you winning has been down to LUCK, im saying you got some decisions (some against to) but more for thanks to VAR and you are doing what title winning teams do, win ugly when you need to!dont take everything like its said as a bad thing!
it might not even be right its often perseption of other fans that dont watch every pool game as religiusly, same goes for you with other teams….
its not wrapped up of course, but as things stand with EVRY team at this point i just cant see you losing enough points for ANY team to catch you and win, thats just my humble opinion, and may be wrong though i hope for your sake and the other lads on here it isnt, then we can get that monkey off your back and enjoy some proper bants without everyone being so delicate! 😉

controversial post iminent!
i think Cityt are too far off the pace for a title challenge, the only thing that could make this change is the very congested festive period for liverpool, if they get tired and the odd injury and the odd result it could change, i just cant see it, they are winning ugly, getting late goals, some decisons and playing until the end, city are city but it seems the injuries and lack of cover and going for 3 in a row is just a step to far, all great teams see this and how hard it is to keep that level up year after year…next year they will be back but Aguero and Laporte out alone mean this season is over (yes liverpool fans im saying you will win!)
