but its ok, with half a billion profit they will only need 2 years to pay the debt right? then you can invest in the team again?

I agree with you Brian, i knew a City lad from manchester for a good few years back in your torrid days with no expectations, feeding the goat etc…..

United have had 20 odd years of success with no challengers in your neck of the woods so many “new Fans” will have become red as will many around the country….what City are building now and will likely continue to do for a good few years yet will start to mirror that and many new “fans” will start being Blue and their popularity via winning and how they win will continue to grow but it will take time, add that to the costs involved and it wont happen over night no matter how much moeny is spent….but it will happen and if City continue on the current path and dominate for a good while they will be right up there, its the nature of sport

If a small 2nd Div club got a billionaire and won everything they wouldnt suddenly get tens of thousands of “new fans” at every game, it doesnt work like that

there was an article not that long ago that said about half the PL teams could have empty grounds EVERY game and still remain profitable, thats whats happened to football, on that basis you would hope that at least those clubs would try and give back my lowering prices for tickets and food and drink inside!

AW was the same and we are “not that club”…….

as chelsea are finding out, new mangers can only do so much unless fully supported by the club…if they arent then expectations are less (see the spuds) which is why levy is happy

all true but it is a double edged sword, should they get spanked by Barca it will be very bad for him, the club and the fans….more pressure, no so much of a free hit then…and this isnt the Barca of old either, great on there day but well capable of losing or at least not getting a cricket score….

i dont think anyone is saying he isnt a good manager, the question is (anf the points you have made yourself above) is, IF they spend and how much, he has been restricted, very much like AW was in the early years, so its not so much him as Levy….has he got the most he can out of this group of players? i think so….will they have money (and enough money) to spend and compete now with the stadium?
remember lots of other teams will be spending big so not staying in place and or rebuilding…so will they get the players they really want and need? and if not then for him as a manager what then? he was won nothing….im sure he wants to, im sure he wants to at Spurs…unlikley to happen unless Levy supports him and even then it may be to late, let alone the 10 years to change mentality comment…

i just dont see Varane going anywhere, and the money you need for the summer i can see your accountants selling Pogba, then i can also see them getting Bale as Ed has always been a fan, though i agree with you mate it would be a very bad signing and not what you need, always liked Kroos, but not seen much about him in his RM tenure, why do they want rid if he is any good?
Courtois id stear well clear of, he was shocking the last season at Chelsea and handled himself badly, then shocking at RM and is not liked in the slightest by fans, good on his day and could and should have moved on but i think he had regressed….he is no De Gea thats for sure, so straight away the team is worse than the year before and withut Varan or a player of that ilk then you will still have Smalling and Jones in front of him and young at RB 😉
we have been linked with a fair few players as all clubs are but i have actually liked many of them even though they are the “tier below” but its got to be time to be brave and get younger talent in and stay away from rejects…

lot of respect for wolves, they have played so well for a first PL season, and have an FA Cup match to think of but still went out to win though united helped them to be fair….
i was watching the BBC match thread and some of the comments were so funny!
Jones is signed up for the next 5 years already as are many other dross…
Zidane has also said he doesnt want to seea madrid without varane and is going no where, unless his £500m buy out is met (half a billion on one player????)
so in any player swap deal i think you can discount him, but looks like courtois is of and so is bale, maybe Kroos….

well now, a nice win that
3rd place at least for a few days
999 im not sure and it is odd, but then its odd he is going, since he got his move to Juve he has been one of our best and most consitant players, maybe its a nod to his professionalsim and how well he has been doing for his last year with us and maybe the rest of the lads are happy with that

i think we will see a fair few changes in the summer, money spent but but on the lower tier of players than other teams as we do need a considerable rebuild in certain areas, will be interesting to see, thenonce he is gone a new capatain…
