im not really criticising them per say, i just feel that they should have built on the momentum and hard work of last year and still believe there are players in world football that would have improved them and come to them……and they are worse by not strengthening from last year IMHO, doesnt mean they are rubbish but instead of moving on they are treading water and IMHO it (could) cost them…

they are 1 or 2 injuries away from being fairly average, if 1 or more of the front 3 are out for a significant amount of time…..losing Sane for a few months would be bad, had they been able to replace him with a Pepe or someone then less of an impact….

not rocket science and not an anti pool agenda i just feel that when things are going well its dangerous to leave them be

that squad have had no rest now for a couple of years and played a huge number of games…

we shall see come the end of the season Lucky but for me they wont do as well as last year and are weaker now than then

they do this often, get so close then dont invest and start over building up and so on and so forth

we shall see, hopefully we can take some points of them or at least avoid another cricket score loss!

it sure is lucky but as reigning CL and SC winners there would never have been a better time for Pool to pick up 1 or 2 key players to bolster the squad, they chose not to and i think ultimately it will not only cost them this season but be a detriment for coming seasons

same with you guys and the enforced ban, but theres was voluntary!

as for my lot, long long way to go but at least the green shoots are starting to show, will they wither and die or grow?

we shall see!

lucky, with regards to Pepe, it was just my opinion that he is exactly the right player for pool

they have the best fornt 3 yes but they play and have played so many games, injuries and tiredness kick in, city manage to keep them all happy..i think he is one player who would have strengthened them for all comps conciderably

these are the sort of signings i mean like when city got Mahrez…its strength in depth and having quality everywhere

i get what you say about pool but we have seen this so many times form them and others, if you stand still you lose ground and takes longer to get back up…

what im saying is i think of all the players moving around theere was one special player that would fit the bill, the point is they were NEVER in for anyone like this….i think by next summer that will feel a mistake

i always thought pepe would be the right player for them to be honest or fernandes, again strong squad players if nothing else and coudl be structured to not break the bank too so the can compete with citys squad not just the 1st 11

to be fair we dont know what the plans changed from, maybe they changed in respect of if we won we would have CL money as part of the budget and by not we had a small budget but had to find a new and aggresive way to get players in

never in a million years did i see Pepe coming and the way its structured is very good, its not just who we got and how much but how we are paying, also who we have cleared from the books and who mayu yet still go, its looking a slimmer trimmer leaner squad with lots of youth and talent, still a way to go as ive said but for the first time im starting to feel or recognise the plan the club are trying to follow but these things take time….

as for pool waht im saying about them is they couldnt earn more moeny than they did last year and riding high in all terms including player attraction, are you saying there sint at least ONE position they could not have if not improved on would have at least been as good and thus strenthen the squad (like city)?

im sure they could have got at least one marquee signing and stayed well within FFP and taken a step forward instead of treading water, its a dangerous game, we used to do it all the time so i know!

i also dont think their strateghy changed for winning the CL final…

think it will be attack v attack but yours is the better more settled attack with a more solid base throuyght the team defensivly, tho you can see the high line is an issue….but you still feel every attack form anyone let alone the front 3 you have will lead to a goal against us…..

Mikus, i have indeed seen that thread

my views are for you guys, winning or losing shouldnt have made a difference, you can always improve even if it was just one player, i think you have wrongly sat on your laurels this year and will regret it long term, to go so close and stay the same is a risk, you wont collapse but within a year or two players will be older and mnore tired and more worked out, always ood to refresh and change when a special player comes along.

hearing you didnt have much money available? how come, prize and TV money let alone sponsors must surely make you cash rich especially as we have heard so much about your real spend not being so high due to the sale of Coutino

as for how long players have been at a club, thats a double edged sword, for us its a good thing as we have been mentaly weak, so having new players who arent comfortable at the club (deadowwd) that pick up wages or steal a living is a good thing, for a team at the top winning regularly and with a good mentality then the opposite is true

hopefully for us its a chance to build a team, squad and mentality for the future …..

as things stand currently whats your view on Saturdays game? IM still crapping myself but ever so slighlty less than previous years!

999 im worried about saturday right enough but few teams will not be worried going to anfield, but we inparticular have been awful and conceded many goals, we might lose in fact lets be honest SHOULS lose against the current CL and SC winners but if we can give them a real game, scare them and keep the score down and compete rather than impolde i will be happy! any point or more would be a dream coe true at this point

thats tue Lucky but the point is for too many years we were not doing what we were supposed to do, then off the back of Baku we were told we had £40m to spend and our ambitions for the window were set accordingly, you say we are not stronger but i would disagree, we have not soreted every position and i woudl have preferred a beast of a CB and Luiz has mistakes in him, but he has a winning mentality, can play a pass and get stuck in as well as play Cm and Cb, so for £8m…take it all day long, young CB next year to come in and a LB….youngsters coming in and all doing very well IMHO, not getting the plaudits of the Chelsea youth but IMHO have been better so far…..

its not just about this window though it was a pleasant surprise its about the vision for the clubm, the fact we now seem to actually have a vision and how we want to go about achieving that.

the guys we have brought in like Edu and Ljundberg and the new players and youth all seem to point to a real change in ethos, but still a ways to go, but we seem to have a less scatter gun approach than the likes of united…..

i think its much better than uniteds given our financial constraints compareed to united, but its also the fact we have made real solid changes with personel behind the scences and have a real “plan” in polace to achive things, we have done great business for naff all net spend even more so with the extra we are getting for 2 youth playerts when they are sold on by current clubs and we might yet get rid of both Oz and Mustafi, that will clear huge wages and then open the path for January/Next summer for more quality additions, cant wait to see Tierny play and fully fit….onwards and upwards, joint top and 100% record in the pL only one other team can say that 😉

TBA, i think you might be! We shouyld improve form last year though and maybe top 4 isnt out of our reach this year, but it wont be easy and as ever defence is the main issue….but whatever happens this season it at least FEELS like the club are now making the right decisions, with staff and strategy to achieve things where as before i was very unconvinced…..and next year we will have our young CB too and who knows who else identified…Luiz will help for sure tho and we may get an extra 6-10 points over last year…
