big difference in these players tho sean…john stones was brought for stupid money (more than McGire with inflation of footy fees IMHO) but was touted as young for the future great potential so they paid and outbid a few clubs as he was big news but not really proven and all he since proven is to be injured and full of mistakes…all managers even the very very very best (including Klopp) dont get it right every time….
of available CBs in the summer HM was concidered by all top teams and had performed well for Leicester including winning the PL and the doing very well for England, he is a no brainer as a very decent time proven CB…but you change clubs and play with dross and coached bad and players are down its not so easy maybe..id take HM in our team in heartbeat, but then we are worse off than united in defense!_____________________________

what i find crazy is keeping the perrinially injured Bailey, Rojo, Shaw, Young, Jones, Lindelof (and in some cases offer big new contracts to) then loan/sell the best defender you had pre McGuire in Smalling (not just based on current form for Roma!) i think if it had been him and HM at CB with AWB at RB and the young lad at LB the defense and HM ability to improve that unit as a unit would have been increased. to be fair we have a number of CB’s at our club and your welcome to just about all of them! call it a christmas present from me 😉

taking over a team youve know and trained for years and instilled and ethos with a previous manager is different to taking your first coiaching job at a big club in a toxic atmosphere with none of the ethos instilled and a weak ass backbone!
he could be a god and change us, but there is nothing to show or say he would, he could tank badly with us…..its the unknown, id prefer a known!

im not sure why we should be happy with Arteta?
for me id be very nervous….who has he managed?
what experience does he have?
and the big one for me …DOES HE KNOW HOW TO MAKE A TEAM DEFEND?!?!?yes he is Peps understudy…how many of those has he had thats gone on to great things? Same with SAF and even AW, playing for or worjking with a great coach doeant make you great
he could be everything we want and need but just as easily be a waste, id prefer a manager with real experience at this point and Allegri would be my personal choice, get back to basics and learn how to keep out goals! we plenty of attacking talent so focus on that and the rest should follow!

lets be honest, would Klopp have raised this bar and the “average” as far as he has if he didnt spend ANY money in 3 consecutive windows? and wuld they have reached a CL final during this hgiatus form spending?
Klopp is a brilliant mnaager i would love at my club and more than Poch, its not about who is better, thats clear as day! but the argument and “facts” presented just dont sit right….i think had Klopp not bought VVD and a few other players he was able to he would have stayed where he was playing great football but ultimatly conceeding to many goals over a whole season to really challenge_____________________________

oh god damn it yes, i have to say im more with Nancy on this one. Luckys post as with manby of his is a great post and does offer many good things but to me it is not comparing apples with apples, there is so much more to concider.
The relative quality of the squads when the manager took over, their league positions, the money they spent leading up to and beyond that point etc….
i think that waht Poch did at Spuds on a very low budget form a very unambitious CEO was more than decent and up there with the likes of Wilder at Sheffield etc who people are raving over. He got the best of us on less money and really turned there fortunes around, had he had even half decent funds available over those 3 windows they spent nothing, its more than likely that the staleness and CL hangoiver wouldnt have been so bad.
i must admit i dont see the “research” as being p[articularly useful, no doubt took a while and it was a bit of a thesis and qudos to luck for the time and effort…but i somewhat with it sticking in my throat see the point Nancy is making based on thte evidence or lack there of in this instance to make “a” point….

its been 6 years and counting and even they are not feeling so entitled and before their period of dominance how many years was it? while you lot were living it up
the only reason SOME of you have this attitude as you say is because you think you are entitled to something that isnt deserved and more than any other club, reality check, you are not!
