13th May 2022 at 10:08 am in reply to: ๐ด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎThe FA Cup Final 2022 – Chelsea v Liverpool ๐โฝ๏ธ GW 37 #196067
Sadly there is a percentage of modern day younger generation football supporters, or so they believe themselves to be, that treat our domestic cups with total disregard. I have always valued, in particular the FA Cup as one of the game’s showpiece events. Maybe it is because, as a Chelsea supporter winning or being involved in anything was treasured, especially on the rare occasion we progressed past the fourth and fifth rounds. It was not just about Chelsea for me though, it was also about the mystery, the clashes between two clubs poles apart in rankings and how the underdog would upset the form guide, either take the match to a replay or totally upset the apple cart with a ‘ridiculous’ result. Ever since Chelsea lost in the 1967 FA Cup final to Spurs, I have annually supported the competition for the next 55 years so when a total prat decides to try and tell me that is a worthless cup, a Mickey Mouse cup he then wonders why I choose to pick him and his posts to pieces at every opportunity. In 999s absence I have wanted to take the opportunity to say it as I see it however have chosen to walk away from that site at least until he returns there, mainly in respect to him.
Fabulous match ahead Nil and having played out multiple draws one would be forgiven for thinking the may happen again. Sadly unless Tuchel can get both Kante and Jorginho fit and out there, with Kovacic injured you will destroy us and I anticipate we will be two down inside 15 minutes. That midfield minus two of those three and especially if Ruben Loftus-Cheek is picked, will be threadbare at best and that is where Liverpool will take total control and eat us alive. Sincerely hope I am wrong and it is the showpiece event it deserves to be.
I am disappointed that the less wealthy clubs don’t get the opportunity to fight for that treasured home tie in the form of a replay and all the extra revenue it raises for them. I really don’t know how those clubs survive these days, what with Covid and its repercussions financially and whatever else they are up against.

Isn’t it amazing that you dare even have a draw or it can be fatal when shooting for the big prize. I wanted you guys to win so you’d get one clear of United but I see even if City lost one of two left they’d win on goal difference. I’m not fancying our chances on Sunday at all Nil so the domestic cups double should be yours. As for Real Madrid, hope you destroy them. Surely they can’t keep riding on the backs of Benzema and Vini Jr.

Relegated to the 2nd page. Can’t have that. Too big for that so I’ll post. Big win at Leeds. That’ll give WF and associates nothing to be negative about for a while re the top 4. That was always a certainty and the 200/1 odds on was clear. Oh wait there’s still a small issue of an FA Cup final on the weekend v Liverpool but in his eyes it’s a worthless Mickey Mouse cup (his words). Don’t like our chances there on current defensive form and I think this string of 1-1 results against them is about to come to an abrupt halt. Looks like Kovacic is out so we are desperate to fill the mid field with the other two Kante and Jorginho who are both in doubt, or Liverpool will destroy us. Always one to be positive but Tuchel needs to find a solution, and fast, or it’ll be all over inside 15 minutes.

Not a bad position to be in now Brian. You could probably afford a close loss and still win the title. Good luck to them.

Big game later today Everton v Chelsea. How desperate are they now with Burnley getting 3 points at Watford?
Separate issue, has the Editor or anyone else any news on how 999 is after his operation? We were hoping, from his comments back on the 4th April on the other site, that he would be back within a week or two. Its now 4 weeks and finding it a little worrying that we have heard nothing. Cheers guys ๐

het there Sean and happy new year to you. Best Chelsea have played for a while and a gutsy comeback from 0-2 for sure. Not sure but I think both Liverpool and Chelsea still have to play City a 2nd time this season as we are only around half way so there is six points they can lose while our clubs can pick up 6. All of a sudden the chase to Round 38 has life in it. We have City within the next fortnight so we have to get the ball rolling. Chelsea have turned something like an eight point lead into a ten point deficit so anything is possible I guess. City must be unbackable odds now though as Liverpool will be minus three key players in Mane, Salah and Keita for, I think, 4 or 5 Premier League matches depending on their countries progress.

I missed the dental smile today, the old man with the choppers of a 16 year old. Where was he?

Young Blue, I was only joking mate. United seem to get the best rub of any green going pretty much from when Sir Alex took control all those years back so tongue in cheek I made that suggestion but good luck to them. Not their fault someone royally f’d up ๐

How much did United slip under the table to get that made void? From Lille we’ll end up with Bayern Munich now and United will get a dream tie. You watch. This sucks.

Yes I’ve been watching Gallagher and he’s different class to many in his team. He’s the x factor there and I’d love to see him back at the Bridge in the future. Same goes for Gilmour.

Agree 999 and we have seen it all before- many times how it panned out against against Burnley and we always managed to get the three points (except against Manchester City and Juventus) 70% possession and 25 shots on goal against 30% possession and, from memory, 1 shot on goal for a 1-1 draw and at home against the 3rd bottom team. I guess what I was saying is, for a change, the performance was rewarded with a smashing 3-0 away win against superior opponents without us having to struggle through 90 minutes hoping that in the end we would be the winners.

Close to the best performance of the season. I was quite surprised how sharp we were and so dominant over what I saw as an inform quality Leicester side. Long may it continue. I’m a little wary of United minus OGS as they will instantly rediscover their quality and form. West Ham coming up will really show how far we have come in my opinion. Having said that Wolves just beat them so it is very hard to draw a line through some clubs’ form from one week to the next. Two extremes our performances against Burney and then Leicester. The two week break seems to have energised our lads notwithstanding the absence of many on International dutyI think others that were rested injured or not gained the full benefit and it showed.

San Merino arn’t the worst getting around to be fair. The mighty Australia have revelled in the glory of destroying sub standard opponents with the record at the level.
Australia set a world record for the largest victory in an international football match, winning the game 31โ0. Australia’s Archie Thompson also broke the record for most goals scored by a player in an international match by scoring 13 goals. The victim was American Samoa.
Archie wasn’t a bad footballer by any stretch of the imagination but he would barely be fit to tie up Harry’s shoelaces for him.
