I don’t think Guardiola will leave. He can’t get the financial backing he has now anywhere else. I think that’s important to him.
I’m curious to see how he’ll deal with the rebuilding at hand. He never did anything like that before. Not at Barcelona, not at Bayern. At City De Bruyne, Mahrez, Walker and Gundogan are all pushing 30. Otamendi and Aguero are both 31. Fernandinho and Silva are both well into their thirties. And will Stones ever be worldclass? Will Jesus ever be able to take over from Aguero? Not based on yesterday, that’s for sure._____________________________

It’ll be interesting to see how Guardiola Will go about the rebuilding ahead of him. They are very dependant on Aguero. They are a very different team without him. Yesterday they really lacked end product. A huge gap between Aguero and Jesus. And Aguero has passed 30.

Brian & 999, the CL is hard to win. But surely City brought in Guardiola to win the CL? Before he came in, they already had won the PL and the domestic cups. He has made City even more dominant than they were before he came – at least in terms of keeping possession in games. Guardiola is a top manager. But if he leaves City without winning the CL, how will the City fans look back at him?
Could the same be said of his time at City if he “only” leaves with domestic trophies?

What’s the Chelsea guys view on the transfer ban being lifted? Lampard has done well so far, and he has used a lot of young players who really have been performing.
Do you want Lampard to spend? Could spending on established players get in the way of a young team developing?

Mav and 9, thank you, and I hope you’re both well 🙂
9, I think I raised the question if Guardiola should be considered a failure, if City fail to win the CL.
I acknowledge that he had City play some good stuff since he took over. Better than any other City manager. But if he fails to win the CL, he has done no more than Mancini and Pellegrini when you look at the trophies. And I’m sure Guardiola was brought in to win the CL. I just wondered since this City team is getting on. De Bruyne is one of the younger players of those you’d consider essential players. And he’s 28.
Of course “failure” is a harsh term to use, but for the sake of the argument I chose to use it.

I’m very surprised that United won. I love it. But I never saw it coming. So we beat Leicester, the noisy neighbours, Chelsea and Tottenham and drew against Liverpool. And been poor against pretty much all other teams. I don’t know what to make of this team and Ole. Clearly a lot of deadwood still at the club and a lot of rebuilding ahead. But is Ole the right man to steer the ship?
City perhaps look like they’re at the end of a cycle. I can’t see them pulling back 14 points on this great Liverpool team. IMO Guardiola needs to win the CL. Otherwise the season is a disaster. He never replaced Kompany and too many of the players have peaked. Many are even old now. If City fail to win the CL under Guardiola, surely his time with City is a failure. Thoughts?

5 minutes to go at least. You just now City will get at least a draw now.
