It’s obviously a huge story here in Denmark. Yep! It’s the guy who used to play at M’boro.
It’s completely within the rules in Spain this transfer. And here in Denmark it seems to be the opinion in general (and I agree) that MB is a solid player but nowhere near good enough to be material for a top 3 club in one of the big leagues. He did well with Toulouse in France and I think he captained them. M’boro wasn’t very good, but he has done well at Leganes, but the jump to Barcelona is just a massive one.
MB won the lottery, but I bet Barcelona will sell him again in the summer._____________________________

Mav, those two giants are still dwarfed by the mighty AGF. And you can buy the best sausages at their stadium ?

Mav, mate, I’d stop being a fan of United if some regime from UAE, Saudi Arabia, North Korea or what have you bought the club. Not everything is equally good and it does matter where money come from.

Adlab, what’s your point? And why would you think that’s something I would agree with?

I think it’s great if City are hit hard and are suspended. Especially since the City project mainly is about good PR for the UAE. And countries that violates human rights deserve no such thing.
I know that’s not UEFA’s agenda, but it’s a nice side effect. Unfortunately sports and politics are firmly connected.I do have sympathy for the City fans who have been fans of their clubs for decades though. Not their fault their owners are who they are and do what they do.
But looking only at the football side of it all: Can City keep their best players if the two season ban is final? They have an ageing squad as it is, can they get players of the same quality as before, if they can only offer domestic football?

Mak, I get your point about not wanting to piss off the present City fans as it was probably their club before the Sheiks arrived. It’s not City as such I have a problem with. It’s their owners. I’m a fan of United. I never had that kind of ill feeling towards Arsenal or Liverpool as those clubs were about good, longterm management and player recruitment.
That’s the point. I wouldn’t have a problem with City finally winning things if they did it that way._____________________________

It’s good for the PL. Even if City are banned for two seasons, they need to perform and stay relevant. So as Mak says 5th will be the new 4th and that’ll make for an even better and more competetive PL.

I fear that City will appeal and get a much lesser punishment. I hope they don’t though.
I have no sympathy for clubs like City and PSG who couldn’t put a stick in a turd without ruining both and only started to win anything because some rich guy (or regime) wanted to play real life Football Manager on cheat mode. It’ll be very interesting to see what happens if the regime fails to get their ban reduced or cancelled. Will Guardiola run off to the next national dominant champ with a bottomless purse? What will their star players do?
Interesting to say the least!_____________________________

Eriksen signs for Inter. I don’t know what to make of it really. I’m very pretty sure Inter wasn’t his first choice, but he gets paid better than he did at Spurs, and he’s probably more likely to win a national title of some sort.
Through the years he just always spoke of his admiration for the Spanish league and Barcelona in particular, so in some ways him going to Inter is somewhat underwhelming. It feels like a sidestep to me. And Serie A is just not as good a league as the PL. Hopefully it’ll turn out good for him and he’ll get back to form.
I just read on TT that Woody wants to bring Sanchez back to United. The madness never ends. A 31 year old flop on wages high enough to buy a continent. Why? Just why?

Quite amazing what Liverpool have done in the PL so far this season. Fantastic, actually. City need to gain more than a point per round from now on to catch you. It can be done, but it’s simply unrealistic.
Liverpool fans can start celebrating, and it’s very much deserved._____________________________

Oh, good. Then we should play Phil “The Utility Man” Jones up front. That would be fun! 😀

Mak & Sean, I don’t necessarily think Liverpool will smash United. We’ll sit back and be defensive. But over the curse of 90 minutes and more, Liverpool will have too much firepower and pressure for United to handle.

No way United will win. Let’s have a look at it realistically.
Why United win: We’re usually (but only usually) better against the top teams because we can park the bus, sit back and rely on the pace of Martial, James and Rashford. Which isn’t the way a United team should play, by the way.Why Liverpool win: They’re at home. They have the better manager. Player for player they are the superior team. They have been in form basically for one and a half season now. In comparison United are blowing hot and cold.
If I had to put percentages on it I’d say it’s 90 % chance of a Liverpool win, 5 % of a draw and 5 % of a United win.
If United beat Liverpool at Anfield as things are now it would be like a lightweight amateur boxer wearing swimming feet knocking out Tyson Fury.

Best player to never win the PL?
It’s crazy to think how many great players never did it. That’s how good and competitive the PL was and is. Gerrard, Bale, Hasselbaink, Zola, Suarez, Torres, Alonso, Desailly, Le Tissier all got mentioned.
You couldn’t make such a list with Serie A or La Liga.
If a had to choose one player as the greatest to never win the PL, I think I’d have to go with Gerrard though. He really was worldclass for so many seasons. Many times dragging his team over the line on his own in other competitions. I don’t think any other of the ones who missed out on the PL did that to same extent. So he gets my vote.

United because of the treble. Three big trophies in the same season beats going undefeated in the league or setting a point record.
All great teams though.
If Liverpool add the FA Cup and the CL to the PL they’ll win this season, they’ll be the best ever because they’ve pretty much strolled the league.

I agree with Chelsea.man – SAF was wasily worth a handfull of points at least just being SAF. And Adlab is spot on too. United spend money. It’s just on the wrong players. Not necessarily because they were the wrong kind of players, but because they were too old. Matic comes to mind. We need to buy younger players to actually be able to build a squad that can afford the time to gel before they’re too old.
United also tend to keep the wrong players too long. Jones and Lingard, just to name two. Young should ahve gone a long time ago as well. A winger in his midthirties as left back for how long? Surely a club like United should do better than that?I don’t like City because of their owners. Never will. But there’s no denying they have brought in players and staff members in a much wiser way than United for years now. That’s why they are so far ahead. United need to define a clear club philosophy just like Ajax or Barcelona and then hire a new manager that fits the bill and then keep doing that for years to come. Make the youth teams play the same system too. It’ll take time, but in the long run I think that’s how it should be done.
