City can beat anyone. No doubt about that.

999, I have. He’s saying he’s been outspend. It’s true. But it’s also not without comical value coming from someone employed by Chelsea.
Don’t be so defensive about it.It’s a bit like a guy getting hit right in the head by a boomerang he threw himself. That’s funny too.

I’ve mainly seen Christensen for Denmark, but I think his development has been impressive.

999, for anyone of United, City or Chelsea to say they lack money is just pure comedy and I get it if fans of other clubs can’t take it seriously.

Chelsea was definitly one of the responsible clubs when it comes to the insane wages and transfer fees in football today. No doubt about that. So with that in mind it’s understandable if Chelsea get a bit of stick when they complain about not having the financial strength to compete for a certain player.
In general clubs like the Oil Firm and Manchester United shouldn’t really complain about anything or act as if finances are a problem. 99% of the clubs out there would love to have their “problems”And I hope that Banjo returns.

20th January 2018 at 9:28 am in reply to: Sanchez: layed all eggs in one Basket – Fundamental problem in English Football #13097The way football has become business and entertainment, I can see how clubs might feel less than obligated to have the national team in mind. As a fan of the sport, I’d like them to take more responsibility. It’s probably just not going to happen.
Clubsowners and -boards are mostly asshats. Just like their managers.

20th January 2018 at 8:45 am in reply to: Sanchez: layed all eggs in one Basket – Fundamental problem in English Football #13094Good point, Pagan. And you can’t really blame the clubs, can you? I wouldn’t buy a local product if I can find something similar at a cheaper price just by looking a bit further away.
It leads to another debate: Do the clubs have a responsibility to nurture national talent in order to support the national side?

20th January 2018 at 7:49 am in reply to: Sanchez: layed all eggs in one Basket – Fundamental problem in English Football #13092It’s just the way things are. 30 years ago only three foreigners were allowed in a starting line up, most clubs had managers from their own country. The Bosman ruling and the political decisions made by the EU changed the landscape of the sport forever.
Why would you settle for a Graeme Souness or Dave Moyes if you can get a Klopp, Ancelotti or Guardiola?
And of course those foreign managers look to the leagues they know best when they go shopping for players. And as a direct result the local guy from the woods finds it harder to get a real chance.Football mirrors society. It has gone global. It doesn’t only affect the crap England side, it also affects a former powerhouse like Italy. They’re crap as well today. You can say that for many national sides. I don’t see how things will change. I guess we just have to live with it. Money rules.

All good here. Work takes up a lot of time, and so does my son’s football. All good things though, so no complaints! 🙂
Good to talk to you again!

I’m happy to have Sanchez at United. Absolutely worldclass player. He’ll definitly improve us.
The money involved is of course completely unethical. No doubt about that.
But I have to say that the financial part of football went off the rails long ago. I honestly don’t care much about it any more. It’s just hard to relate to without getting pissed off._____________________________

I’ve read Conn Iggulden’s series about Ghenghis Khan and also about Julius Caesar. Absolutely brillant.
I can also recommend Bernard Cornwell’s Saxo stories and his three books series about King Arthur.Normally that’s the kind of stuff I go for. Historical fiction.
Right now I’m reading something completely different: Karl Pilkington’s “The Moaning of Life”. It’s hilarious!

I’d love Sanchez at United. He just turned 29, and he’s in his prime. And I don’t think he ever had any serious injuries or stuff like that. And today 29 isn’t as advanced an age as it was years ago. So no reason he can’t give United at least three or four good seasons. And then the reported fee doesn’t seem that high to me.
Sanchez is quality, and he’ll improve our starting XI as it is. And he isn’t any more of a moneygrabber than most other players out there. So to me it’s a no brainer. Go get him if possible._____________________________

Yep, Banjo. It’s on Netflix. Two seasons. Great stuff. You’ve got your Evil Dead I & II from the eighties and Army of Darkness from the early nineties, I think it is. Ash vs. Evil Dead picks up 30 years after AoD.
