I’m only truly offended by the following:
1. People who take the spoon from the sugar bowl, put it in their own coffee and stir it and then put the spoon back into the sugar bowl. Idiots!
2. People who slice the cheese in the wrong way. Don’t make it look like a fucking hammock! Idiots!
3. People who have been living abroad for a short while, return home and suddenly speak with an accent and throw in foreign words in conversations from wherever they’ve been. Idiots!
4. Child abusers, rapists and murderers. Idiots!
5. Waiters who place the napkin on my lap without me asking for it. It happened at an Indian restaurant once. Don’t. Put. Anything. On. My. Lap. Especially. If. You. Are. Another. Man. You. Idiot!
Nil’s rants don’t really annoy me or offend me, but he should perhaps sometimes wait ten minutes and read his posts again before posting in some cases.
I’m off to make a bonfire with my kids now. Have a good day!

Nil, the common ground is that we like to discuss football.
If we didn’t put forward opinions that challenge the opinion of the opening post, it wouldn’t be much of a forum.
And it does seem personal on your part when you call people nasty and horrible.

Nil, mate, isn’t “mass- debate” what you want on a forum?
No need to go down the “Clearly, nasty, horrible and self-righteous people like leeches”- route.
I saw no doom and gloom either, to be honest. Where would that be?

Coutinho is good, but way too inconsistent to be labelled worldclass or a magician IMO. Liverpool haven’t missed him at all so far. Whoever made Barcelona pay what they did for him should have a statue erected right in front of Anfield. And have his balls tickled every day at work. That was a work of pure genious.
And signing Salah for was it 35 million euros (?) was equally great business. Good work being done at Liverpool!

Legend! Football needs more guys like him. Always funny and cocky but always able to back it up. 99 % of the footballers out there today are so boring and bland that watching milk turn is a party in comparison. They are all form without substance. Or they are cocky and (unintentionally) funny and not able to back it up (like Nicklas Bendtner)
The only thing Zlatan never got was the CL. I could have wished for him that he got it as well, but it wasn’t to be. But his collection of medals that he was a huge contributor to speaks for itself. In my opinion only Messi and Ronaldo are better than him in this generation. As far as forwards go, that is.
I was one of those who loved it when United signed him. He brought some much needed attitude and winning mentality to the squad. And was it 28 goals in all competitions he got before his injury? Pretty well done for an old guy many didn’t think could cut at his advanced age in the PL.
Had he just been Danish instead of a bloody Swede! π

It sucks. Even to us unlucky enough having to follow our local team in a league structure like this it’s hard to understand how it works. Except of course for the fact that losing actually pays off.
It needs to change.

19th March 2018 at 3:06 pm in reply to: MΓΈlby pretty sure Liverpool will beat City in the CL #18432Money is too big factor in football today. I’m a fan of Manchester United and I have no problem admitting we are as bad as The Oil Firm when it comes to money. We are actually worse than Chelsea these days. The fees paid for Pogba and Sanchez are just insane. Same with wages.
It puts me off that any club can be bought and then go from 1 to 100 with next to no effort. It does make things harder for the clubs not lucky enough to have rich owners. It basically makes football less interesting.
Will we ever see clubs like Red Star Belgrade or Steaua Bucarest win the CL again? What’s the chance that anyone will do a Leicester again? Chances are slim.
The underdogs will win a game here and there, but no way it boils down to 22 men on the pitch any more._____________________________

I agree that you can compare in the sense that Salah (and many others for that matter) can provide moments of absolute magic that compares to the best of the best.
But it’s being able to do it on a very regular basis and season after season that defines worldclass IMO. From time to time you see even in the Danish Superliga (which I follow) flashes of sheer brilliance. Not even remotely as often as when Salah does it which in turn isn’t yet as often as Messi does it. Except of course for this season. And I get the feeling that I’m very much adding to the whole going- around- in- circles- thing that I think we’re having going on right now! π
I get your point, Mak! π
I think that Salah guy is very good at football and as he has been playing this season he would walk into any team in the world. By far the bargain of the season!

19th March 2018 at 10:12 am in reply to: MΓΈlby pretty sure Liverpool will beat City in the CL #18414Mak, I agree City have to be favourites, but that has to be down to the keeper and defence. I think City are just better in those areas. Going forward I think Liverpool are just as good as City, and with Salah being the most in- form player in the league (he probably has been the entire season) I also agree both teams have the ability to beat the crap out of each other. 60-40 or 55-45 City does seem right to me as well.
999, I see MΓΈlby’s point, but logically and historically speaking, having the last leg at home is usually an advantage. In any case it’ll be two good games, I’m sure. As a neutral I’ll just lean back and enjoy the show. But if I have to choose, I’ll be hoping for Liverpool to go through.

Mak, most who are considered legends of the game did start out from a very early age performing. Messi did. Pele did. Maradona did. Van Basten did. Cruyff did. The list goes on.
Salah could turn out to be a club legend. Perhaps he’ll perform like this the next 5-6 or 7 years. Then he’ll likely end up at some point with either Real or Barcelona, win the CL a few times and then be considered an all out legend of the game.
This season he’s performing extremely well. But to make comparisons to Messi is just hype. It’s not about anyone being pathetic or laughable or anything like that. It’s just about keeping perspective. Whenever someone starts performing, comparisons are always made to greats of the game. Usually the comparisons are just made too early.

You would probably want to shave your chest if you work in a velcro factory and it’s the company’s policy that you have to work naked. In that case shaving your chest is likely an option you’d have to consider.
The Joe Hart ad is hilarious! π Incredible what you can make people do for money!

Messi has been scoring double digits since 2006. He was 18-19 years old back then. The only player that should be compared to that brilliant little garden gnome is Cristiano Ronaldo, and I wouldn’t even say that he’s as brilliant.
Messi is the best of our generation by a mile IMO. Salah is now 25-26 and this is his first season playing on a level were he can be labelled as worldclass. His age considered I doubt he’ll ever do enough to be mentioned in the same breath as Messi. But no shame in that. In our generation probably only Ronaldo will.
Salah is a fantastic player. But Messi is out of this world.

Had no idea that game was played today. Just saw the lineups. What a bunch of basically unknowns. I remember when both clubs had some really great players. Laudrup, Larsson, Gascoigne etc. How the mighty have fallen..

15th February 2018 at 1:46 pm in reply to: Champions League: "It's a Knockout" Stage (Goonies need not apply) #15700Hi Mav! π Agreed, I think from what I’ve seen from Aurier that he’s definitly better than our current right backs. Actually we’ve still got so much deadwood in our squad. I sometimes think it’s pretty well done by JM to have us in 2nd place!
Years ago i actually thought Fellaini would be a great addition to our squad. As it turns out, I was wrong! π
I’d like to see the back of Fellaini, Young, Mata, Zlatan (even if he was good last season, but age catches up with everyone), Valencia, Jones and Darmian. Carrick is luckily enough retiring. He has been a good servant to the club, but new blood is needed.
I’d hang on to Smalling and Rojo, but they shouldn’t be first choice centerbacks. Blind I’d also hang on. He can play several positions and can fill in when needed, A bit like John O’Shea. Those types can be useful. Shaw I’m undecided about. He’s got some potential, but he can’t seem to kick off for real.
Lindelof gets a free pass since it’s his first season at United and in the PL. It’s too early to judge him yet._____________________________

999, Indeed. Chelsea have some quality players and a tactically good manager, so it’s by no means a foregone conclusion that Barcelona will come out on top even if they are favourites.
I’ll be hoping for Chelsea to win. I just never took to the tiki taka of Barcelona and Spain πAnd that semifinal in 2012 was one of the best examples of true teamwork I ever did see.
