There, there, Jim, I’ll give it a go 🙂
I didn’t see what you’re mentioning, as I’d rather not watch Manchester City if I can avoid it.
But I agree with you 100 %. If a ref is out of shape and unfit, then he can’t do the job he’s paid to do. That’s one thing. More importantly he is almost certain to influence the game in a negative way, because he’s likely to be miles away from the action or so much out of breath that he’ll lose focus. People pay shedloads of money to go to games, and it’s simply disrespectful to them to let things get influenced by an overweight ref who can’t keep up.
But I actually thought that refs had to pass physical tests to get games at that level? If not, surely that would be a good idea?

Yep, I know, mate. But how many oldies can you bring in? And the way the price of cakes has gone through the roof, Yaya will demand wages to match them.
He’ll probably end up at United to complete the misery.

But Le Arse just bought Torreira and Guendouzi. Would they bring in three central midfielders in one window? And they brought in Lichtsteiner and Sokratis Papapapastatpoluoloilos too. Surrely they don’t need more old(er) guys?
Fulham?

If that’s what it takes to get Mourinho fired, I’ll take it.

Have to agree with Banjo. Cantona was so important to United, and what he brought to the club was a belief and confidence that rubbed off on the entire club from top to bottom.
Ronaldo was great, but his first three season he was a lot of tricks with not that much end product. He became a worldbeater eventually at United, but he didn’t quite have the impact that Cantona did.
Henry developed into a worldclass striker and had his prime at Arsenal. He deserves a shout too.
We tend to only mention attacking players. How about Hyypia at Liverpool? What a great defender.

Here’s hoping for a United win. I’m not overly optimistic though. I think it’ll be a pretty boring game as usual when United is involved. Either 0-0, 1-1 or a 1-0 win for either team.
The Bus vs. Cock on Ball. Sounds more entertaining than it’ll be.

Jim, mate, you have a great squad. No doubt. Finish above you and you’re champions, I’m sure.

The way City won last season makes them favourites to win again, even if they so far haven’t strengthened that much. I don’t think Mahrez really improves them.
Liverpool have done the best business so far and have improved in key areas.
To be honest I don’t know much about Fred, but hopefully he’ll add to United’s midfield and help Pogba become more like the player we saw at the WC.
usually wins the league when the change managers, so it would be foolish to rule them out.
Spurs had quite a few players who played a long WC, so will that affect them?
Arsenal don’t look much better than last year, even if changing managers (finally) could inspire them.
Realistically IMO that is, top four will be City, United, Liverpool and Chelsea. Spurs and Le Arse just missing out.
Hopefully top four will be United, Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea with City relegated._____________________________

I like it when someone sticks up for family. Clearly Jim is Raheem’s dad.

Hard for Kane to shine with so little service. England’s downfall was being technically inferior in midfield.
Sterling and a few others still have some obvious developing points. But to get to the semis and still have the chance to go home with a medal is a very good achievement. Especially for such a young squad.

On the bright side England is still a very young team. They’ll learn and get better. And already much more of a real team than the so-called golden generation. With a bit more experience and a bit more flair in midfield, this team could do even better at the Euro in two years.

Too bad for England. I thought you had the game in the palm of your hands after the first half. But Croatia stepped up their game and won deservedly in the end.
Basically midfield was the big difference. Croatia won because Modric, Rakitic and Perisic are proper, creative ball players compared to Henderson, Lingard, Dier and Alli Who all look pedestrian in comparison.
And I have to agree with Paxton on Sterling. He just ran and ran and had No end product. His passing and finishing was catastrophic. And at this level just creating space for others just isn’t enough. Mandzukic creates space for his teammates too. But he’s actually able to do something constructive with the ball as well. That’s why Croatia will play in the final._____________________________

9, I know and yes, anything can happen. And best of luck to England. They’ll need it, I’m afraid.

Varane has stood out to me from what I’ve seen in this tournament. A bit like Pepe in 2016 for Ronaldogal. Just very good, very secure, not really any mistakes. Modric like the other Croatians were second best in the second half and extra time against Denmark and was just better in the group than in the knockout stage. I don’t think De Bruyne has been all that tbh.

I just can’t imagine France not winning against Belgium now. And I don’t think England or Croatia have enough quality to beat La Fraaaans.

Mav, Kasper Schmeichel is definitly good enough for almost all clubs. He is excellent. The level just below De Gea, Courtois, Neuer, Loris and Buffon.

Ed, spot on. One of my kids is a football crazy 9 year old boy. When I told him today that Ronaldo had signed for Ju e, his first reaction was literally that he wanted a Juve shirt with Ronaldo’s name on it for his birthday.
He’s probably not the only kid around to say that._____________________________

Mav, agreed, mate. Liverpool simply need to invest in an atleast mediocre keeper. Going mediocre would actually be an upgrade on poor Karius.
