67 it could be lack of finishing training, I remember the team I played for was going through similar issues, getting many clear chances but unable to find the net, we then focused nearly all our training exercises on shooting at goal and close up finishing and it actually subsequently did the job. The more you train on certain parts of the game the more focused and confident you become in those specific spheres. Just my take not sure why else such highly talented players would spurn so many chances.

Sitting in the pub watching 3 different games, the Milan v Spurs game, the PSG v Bayern game and by far the most entertaining of the 3 the Burnley v Watford game.

Just out of curiosity who are the individual board members of the premier league that make all these decisions, it will be very interesting to know?

Anyone see that smug look of defiance on Peps face just after the game.

LD, Not sure what you mean what are these fraud charges,! Isn’t it about spending over the required amounts allowed within the premier league?

Never been a fan of FFP, if a club has the finances available they should be free to spend it however they wish too, it’s almost reminiscent of a communist state, ” you will spend how much we tell you too otherwise it’s off to jail with you “. Very autocratic state of affairs.”

I’m quite sure City will be cleared, if Eufa lost all their cases against them what chance have the Premier League got.

3rd February 2023 at 1:12 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203620With all due respect I’m sure Ted Boehly and his board know much more than us re finances. Life in general is a risk to different extents I suppose.

3rd February 2023 at 12:09 pm in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #203616To put how it works into context, the majority of Chelsea’s spending spree in excess of £280m will be spread across eight years, resulting in an annual cost of just £35m.
Chelsea can easily offset that cost with player sales which, unlike transfer fees for purchased players, are booked immediately into the financial records in one lump sum – and Potter has a number within his squad who could be sold at the end of the campaign.
This approach, crucially, is not against FFP regulations but UEFA has reportedly identified the loophole and are shifting the goalposts in future by setting a five-year limit for FFP – although this would not change things hugely.
If Chelsea’s £280m spree was spread across five years, it would equate to £56m a year. Again, that is a fee they can offset with player sales, TV revenue and sponsorship deals.
On top of this, from 2023-24, the allowable loss limit in FFP will be doubled from €30m (£26.6m) to €60m (£53.2m), while clubs judged to be in good financial health will be granted a further €30m in allowable losses over a three-year period. So even without CL Chelsea are in a good space. The EPL is THE Super League._____________________________

Gordon is only slightly better than Mount, both players blow hot and cold and have off form periods. But maybe with Howe he will improve. Newcastle with their lofty ambitions should be going for better players.

Tottenham Hotspur are in talks over investment from Qatar Sports Investments as the Paris Saint-Germain owners accelerate efforts to fund another football club. Spurs chairman Daniel Levy has held a meeting to discuss the avenue as Qatar seek huge involvement in English football.

30th December 2022 at 11:20 am in reply to: January Transfers 2023 (All I Want For Christmas is….) #201989Sean I’m way over that many years ago, it doesn’t pay or make sense to hate any club, I just don’t get any satisfaction of watching teams I don’t care for win or lose, but not caring for certainly doesn’t mean I hate them. We can’t say other owners are this or that unless we ourselves are innocent of all wrongdoings, I suppose you now going to say you are. Noone knows what tendencies lurk in the hearts of all men.

Now and again a lesser unfashionable club will win something but that would probably be their last time too.

I expected Argentina France final all along but I must admit they both had a lot of luck not to mention their general very poor sportsmanship. I’m still undecided who to favour in the final.
