9, it’s one of my pet ideas for football, one of my others is the choice of punishment for a red card should be decided by the opposition, sent off or a penalty. Take the Derby County cup match last week, Derby 1 up with two minutes to go, the Derby Defender pulled down their forward just outside the area, got himself a red card but Derby won the match, Blatant professional foul rewarded with a place in the next round.
Would be very interstellar what decision a team made as you’re not guaranteed to score the penalty….Pagan_____________________________

9, that’s not the best way to cut it out as the sinner has already profited, and what punishment outweighs 3 points. We’re getting VAR, like it or not, you dive, you get a straight red and why not a penalty the other end….Pagan

Chuckles, you disappoint me, sounds like your saying there’s a different acceptability surrounding diving depending on the scorline and relative position in the league.
If he’s dived, and I’ve not seen it yet, then 5 game ban for me….Pagan

“I think we have to discriminate between exaggeration on contact and exaggeration without contact.”
Have I missed something here? How do you exaggerate the effects of no contact, it’s either exaggeration or a dive…..Pagan

9, for me the problem lies in the fact that young players want it all and want it now, you’d like to think there’s someone in the club that talks to the young players about their career path. CHO is a wide player, in front of him are Pedro and Willian, who are starting to come to towards the end of their careers, surely someone’s talking to him about integrating into the team.
In regards to his agent, unfortunately that’s his job, he’s there to get him the “best deal” and that means talking to other teams.
It’s a sad situation when overseas players want to play in the premier league, and our young ones want to leave…..Pagan_____________________________

Well he had his op at 10 this morning, best part of 5 hours in theatre, all good. Not sure it was a good idea for him to watch the match on TV though…..Pagan

A happy worker is a good worker, and for one or many reasons the Man U players were not happy. Ole seems to have come in and put the sunshine back in their lives, which is having an effect on how they work/play. However there is a downside, next time they’re unhappy (and by that I mean asked to do things they don’t want to) will they try and pull the same stunt and expect the same result, that is get rid of the manager?….Pagan

Mr. Balance, the guilty party is football itself, it has an ever increasing appetite for cash, and that cash comes from TV…..Pagan

9, sorry it’s a late reply, thanks for that, however the league cup has its own rules, I’m pretty sure yellow cards don’t count towards the player’s league total as the ones picked up in the FA cup do. It’s a mute point though as nothing will change….Pagan

Ed, Cech was a Ranieri buy, as was Robben, they were purchased in the January to sign in the summer. I also believe that Drogba was in process prior to Jose taking over. Cavalho was a great “bring with him” and probably gave him an insider in the camp in a good way.
The others were already great players, not unknowns/up and comings, Ranieri seems to be quite good at that, my how they laughed when he spent all that money on Fat Frank…..Pagan_____________________________

Difficult to actually have a best GOAT due to the ever changing face of footy
Cloughie took Derby from mid table Div2 to Div1 champions in 5 seasons, he then took Forest from mid table Div 2 to 2 times European champions in 5 seasons, don’t think we’ll ever see anyone do that again.
Ferguson, his ability to keep winning and remain in supreme control in my opinion will never happen again.
Those two for me are hard to separate.
Pep, although brilliant at getting the best out of his players has never managed a team that hasn’t won its domestic league a couple of times in the preceding few seasons. However I don’t believe either Cloughie or Ferguson would be able to manage the modern day player now they have the power they do…..Pagan

9, not sure you’re correct on restricting players by age, would be interested to see where you think that’s written down. By my understanding you if you’re registered to play in a competition you’re eligible to play. The only thing they could say in a league is the result could affect others but in a knockout it’s not the same…..Pagan

9, it’s called change, if there were already plans afoot, it wouldn’t be a suggestion. Not sure how it really adds to fixture congestion, what it does do is give the youngsters a chance. It won’t happen as the big clubs are greedy, don’t want to be embarrassed and don’t really want put their prima donnas through getting changed somwhere that doesn’t have Louis Vuitton fixtures and fittings.
As for the rules of player participation, if they’re registered they can play, and I believe you can register as many homegrown U21s as you like, correct me if I’m wrong.
Or if the prem teams want they could opt out, that president has already been set….Pagan_____________________________

9, the league cup lets the prem teams put their U21 or U23s in, that then gives the first team a maximum of 1 extra game if they don’t go out in round 1 of the FA Cup….Pagan
