As 999 says, the rules have been changed to stop the next Man City or Chelsea happening, they both took advantage of there being no restrictions, it would be a bit like Liverpool fans bemoaning the fact that you get three points for a win instead of two….Pagan

The only record shop in Leicester I regularly went to was Cank Street Record’s, great for second hand stuff, although a little damp.
Loughborough was also good, the student union put loads of good bands on

Mr. Balance, Leicester had a fairly good music scene in 80s, Carlsboro Sounds was the big music shop and the bigger bands played DeMontfort Hall or Granby Hall.
But to be honest it was Nottingham that had the best scene in the East Mids and still does…Pagan_____________________________

Chuckles, as a Chelsea fan, up until lately I was always a big fan of the underdog, and as you, if it doesn’t affect my team I still root for the smaller club, that’s why I’d like to see all clubs in the FA Cup at round 1……Pagan

I spend a lot of time watching cricket, both kids play, one at county level. 4&5 day cricket can be a bit boring, however sitting in the sun drinking beer all day does compensate for that.
One day cricket and T20 are far more entertaining and you also get to have a beer whilst watching.

OGS, if you step back at look at his good points he has on paper the experience to make a top quality manager. Taking nothing away from him as a player but he did spend a lot of time on the bench, which should now serve him well as a manager.
As a player under SAF he would be involved with all the pre match training and tactics required for the next game, he would then sit by him as the game unfolded, hear what he had to say during play, hear his half time talk, see how his changes worked or didn’t, sometimes he would go on and try and implement those changes and then be part of the post match analysis.
This would normally be a great apprenticeship for a future manager, however the rise of player power and the like has seen the end of the Fergie/Cloughie type manager, and as such means although OGS has had a brilliant insight into managing in the aforementioned style he now needs to adapt that knowledge to managing the modern elite footballer, and possibly trying to adapt to the changes needed under the spotlight of managing one of the biggest clubs in the world is not the best place to do it.
If he can master the new type of man management now required and marry it with the tactical nouse he has absorbed, he could become a fabulous manager, only time will tell….Pagan

Mr. Balance, my opinion on the incident in question is that Fabinho did step across Messi, Messi tried to jump round him and in order to do that the arm goes up in a natural action to keep balance, unfortunately his arm does contact Fabinho…..Pagan

Liverpool were the better team!- Liverpool played the prettiest football
Liverpool had the better chances-till Dembele missed his 2 sitters! – Liverpool created opportunities and failed to take them, but then again so did Barca
Barca were very happy with 1-0! – Barca were happy to win the game
Without Messi Barca are an average team! – Barca have one if not the best player in the world, they’re not quite as good when he doesn’t play
You cant do anything about missed chance! – opportunities are there to be taken, if you fail to take them that’s your own fault
You cant do anything against that freak free-kick! – except not give one away
Salah missing that chance does not happen every day! – top players don’t take every opportunity, create more and you’ll take at least 1
Liverpool should have had a penalty! – maybe so, but if you’d taken the opportunities you’d made it would be irrelevant

Mr. Balance,
No rebounds gives the advantage to the defending team not the team that has been wronged, so that to me is wrong.
As for no subs, Liverpool in a cup final having gone to extra time have their goalkeeper injured in time added on in injury time and have to go into the penalty shoot out without a goalkeeper. You’d be happy with that then?
For me other than the goal kick change I think it’s a step in the wrong direction…..Pagan

For myself I think football is trying to over complicate itself, we have to remember that the laws of the game should be the same from premier league to grass roots, the hand ball changes in the area will cause so much confusion with younger refs on the park and the abuse they will get will just encourage them to leave the game. Personally I still like the Stuart Pearce view, if the ball hits your hand/arm it’s handball, if your offside your offside, there’s then no debate or opinion it’s black or white (not sure if you can still use that phrase, sorry if it offends anyone)
The no rebounds change is ludicrous, a penalty in simplistic terms is used to replicate a denied goal scoring opportunity that is lost due to foul play, where obviously rebounds can be put away. The only thing the new law will do is stop the need for the ref to monitor encroaching into the area before the ball is kicked.
Substitutes CAN leave the pitch anywhere, not MUST leave the pitch at the nearest point will not stop players ambling off to the bench, it will however let injured players get off the pitch ASAP.
No subs in injury time, will be interesting to see what happens if there’s a serious injury to a player especially if it’s a goalkeeper and if it’s in a cup tie that goes to penalties.
Chuckles, you can shield the ball as long as it’s in playing distance, and yes it should be obstruction in any other case, and it’s something that needs to be addressed.
The goal kick change is a positive one as it was a cop out for a defender to touch the ball in the area if under pressure and get he goal kick retaken, will it apply to free kicks as well?
As I said at the start the game is becoming over complicated and the laws are now subject to too much interpretation, which is why every decision is over analysed, it’s a simple game, let’s keep it that way….Pagan

Mr. Balance, he was offside when the ball was originally played in but wasn’t interfering, when it was flicked on he was still offside, he was on side when he headed the ball, However it’s when the ball is played to you that counts, and to be fair he was miles off. Thought Willian did well to block the assistant’s view….Pagan
