13th June 2019 at 8:14 am in reply to: Mak, ThreePs, Sean and all Pool Faithful: Digestion with a Choc Digestive :-D #42453Chuckles, my preference was for Spurs to win the CL purely as I always root for the underdog if I have no vested interest. Also using the phrase “well done Liverpool” I think does qualify as congratulating them. I think last night’s outburst is perfectly summed up by the last line in my limerick from yesterday
And as always I post on here with as 999 say my tongue firmly in cheek …..Pagan_____________________________

Mr. Balance thinks pool are a force
And winnings a mater of course
But when they don’t win
His patience wears thin
And then he should stay off the sauce…..Pagan?

Ed, Chelsea have been trendsetters over the last 15 years, rich foreign owner, spending obscene money on players, player power, managerial revolving door etc. It’s now the norm for those things at most clubs. As Ken Bates said, instead of Chelsea being the Man U of the South Man U will become the Chelsea of the North.
Well hopefully at some stage we will start another trend, that of bringing youth through from 8 years old to first team, not just the odd one now and again, but several. To do this the last thing you need is another impact manager that comes in for 3 seasons if he’s lucky and then moves on to the next “must have on the CV” club and to my mind that means having a manager that has a connection to the club, where the club means something to him.
Personally I think it’s a couple of seasons to early for Frank, but I’d sooner have him than an impact manager….Pagan

Well that’s not the most inspiring list, from that I’d take Rafa as long as he surrounded himself with existing staff from in and around the youth setup, after him much as I think it’s too early it would be Frank and Jody…..Pagan

Lampard, that’s a topic on its own, is Lampard the manager at Derby or the figurehead? Jody Morris has the experience and the inside track on the Chelsea youth, and it is possibly no coincidence that both Tomori and Mount were the two players Derby fans have been raving about. Tomori was ever present and Derby’s blip coincided with Mount’s injury.
Whilst I personally believe that it’s at least a season too early for Lampard and Morris to go to Chelsea it would be prudent to make sure someone involved in the youth setup is prominent in the next managerial setup if the transfer ban stands. Not sure who that may be but Eddie Newton has been involved for a number of years and may have the same knowledge of what’s coming through as Morris……Pagan

Mav, Fellani, often maligned by opposition fans, but wherever he’s played he’s scored important goals, not everyone’s cup of tea but always done his job….Pagan

Mav,
Different types of players, Scholes was more physical and seemed to relish that side of the game, Lampard and Gerrard we’re more similar and there was nothing between them, both brought things to their teams, Gerrard leadership, Lampard goals. Yes I know Gerrard also scored plenty of goals but Chelsea haven’t had a consistent 20+ league goals a season striker since JFH.
For me they’re all grouped together as quality players who were critical to their teams….Pagan_____________________________

999, credit to Chelsea they haven’t said “you’re going nowhere” “times have changed”and you can’t be”forever young” and “tangled up in blue” so “like a rolling stone” he’s “moving on”

Adlab, England are what the premiere league would be like without the overseas players, hopefully this will change with the next generation of players who will be coached technically rather than just physically….Pagan

Hazard going and the transfer ban could be the best thing that’s happened for Chelsea for years. We can now start building a team, not around one player but a team that works together. The last season or so the style of play was “pass the ball to Hazard” that’s park football.
The transfer ban will force us to use our youth/loaned out players, it gives the older and better players their chance, and then they have to take it, if that happens then it shows the younger players there is a pathway to the first team if you work hard and are patient.
The only question for me is, is Sarri the right man?….Pagan
