Chelsea fans used to have a similar discussion relating to Jon Obi Mikel and I would use the same argument here.

If a player constantly gets picked by his manager, it’s usually for one of two reasons.

1 – he’s sleeping with the manager, highly unlikely.

2 – he’s doing exactly what the managers asking of him and doing it well – most likely.

As you should know I’m a little bit anti VAR, but I will say it did work better in the CL games. The best example was the Apzi goal, which looked quite tight for offside, it took next to no time, whether they’re just exceptionally quick or they looked and said it’s not clear and obvious so go with the officials on the pitch I don’t know, but we didn’t get three minutes waiting round waiting for lines being draw to prove it was too tight to call. Still not a fan but it wasn’t quite as painful.

As for the two hand balls, both correct by the new laws, but I didn’t really think it was a deliberate hand ball and definitely not worthy of a second yellow, and if they’ve been instructed that all hand balls are cards why is it only applying to the defender?….Pagan

The problems at the back, are due in my opinion, not to the quality of the players we have, but the lack of leadership. One of the three there has to take command, Kepa seems quite quiet, and both Zouma and Tomori are in effect new this season, hopefully when Rudiger gets back he will show what is required leadership wise and then when he’s not playing those that are will know what is required.

Can’t be arsed to find out but I would suspect we have the youngest centre back and keeper trio in the league, which although is having a few difficulties at the moment bodes well for the future. Let’s face it if you’d been told at the start of the season that eleven games in playing the youngsters we have we would be sitting in fourth spot, six points clear of fifth and two behind second you’d have snapped their hands off…..Pagan

For me Kepa has to take some responsibility for the second goal, he needs to more commanding, he should have been in full pantomime mode in the build up, telling Apzi the player was behind him…..Pagan

Whilst getting the ban reduced would be a bit of a victory against the governing bodies, not getting overturned would set a precedent for any other club that breaks the rules.

However, personally I would prefer us not to buy in a January as the players that are currently missing would be like new signings but without the settling in period. It also gives Frank and Jody a chance to evaluate the full squad in match situations over the second half of the season. That then gives them the time to evaluate what positions need cover, what positions need an upgrade, who they deem surplus, but more importantly, who they need to keep happy….Pagan

Definitely not his fault, it’s a physical game that allows contact, sometimes it is deemed to be foul play, but that was a tackle you see day in day out, just unfortunate with today’s outcome. Just hope all involved come through it ok, both physically and mentally….Pagan
