You used to be able to choose different commentary options on Sky, there were several options that included standard, fan zone and stadium. Not sure if that’s still the case as I switched to Virgin and I don’t think they have any options….Pagan

Well to be honest if he’s thinking about using 10 or 11 players then I think we’ve found one problem I can help with, use 11???……Pagan

442, that depends on how Frank wanted them to play, Giroud plays and has played in the past at this level because he’s good enough to. What you have to do is change tactics according to the players you have at your disposal.

1st December 2019 at 4:28 pm in reply to: Week 14: A new dawn, a new day…. and I’m feeling gooooood!! #55049It would be interesting to see what would happen if free broad band were to be rolled out, as the cost of footy would no longer be subsidised by that revenue stream and would then be just in the subscription to the TV channels, personally I think that would more than double the cost, and some may balk at that, which may cause a bit of an implosion….Pagan

1st December 2019 at 4:14 pm in reply to: Week 14: A new dawn, a new day…. and I’m feeling gooooood!! #55045Adlab, the we pay comment is a strange one, we’ve always paid, today probably more in real terms in out actual outlay, but directly vastly less to what it actually costs to run your chosen club.
Pre shirt advertising, the vast majority of the money came from gate money, some came from pitch side and programme advertising, very little from merchandise, nowadays although we pay a lot directly, it is only a small proportion of the actual costs, now we pay through the nose not only on match days but on direct merchandise, TV and indirectly on anything made by sportswear companies.
The reason is purely down to player greed….Pagan

442, Giroud will be gone in January, I can see the logic in playing him yesterday, it puts him in the shop window, had he scored more so…..Pagan

1st December 2019 at 8:28 am in reply to: Week 14: A new dawn, a new day…. and I’m feeling gooooood!! #55014Mak, I get what you’re saying as it’s a precedent that is usually adhered to, but unfortunately the laws of the game weren’t broken. Standing over the ball is common place and only very rarely is a player booked for it.
Yep it’s a difficult one to take. Changing the scenario a little, in grassroots games if a kids laces come undone, the ref usually holds play while they’re done up, he doesn’t have to, and the arguments that follow from parents if the ref doesn’t hold the game are quite vicious…..Pagan

30th November 2019 at 5:22 pm in reply to: Week 14: A new dawn, a new day…. and I’m feeling gooooood!! #54959Yep, the keeper generally sets the wall position, but a player cannot delay the restart of the game, I wasn’t ready isn’t really an excuse.
I’ll admit you rarely see quick free kicks nowadays, and it’s even rarer to see what you have described today, but it is within the laws of the game, is it ethical? well football is probably one of the least ethical and moral games around. Still at least it wasn’t a result changing incident and will give them something on MOTD to talk about….Pagan
