Threeps, a valid question, but if keeps banging in goals like he is I don’t think he’ll be pulled up on his all round play, if he doesn’t, then obviously it will be scrutinised…..Pagan

Frank probably wanted to strengthen the team, however he didn’t, that would lead to the conclusion that the right player wasn’t available at the right price. The only way Chelsea could make something happen was to buy a player the didn’t really want, or pay way over the odds for one they did…..Pagan

Threeps, the FA cup died (well became a little bit ill) not because of the FA, but because of the clubs chasing the dollar.
Yes the highlight of playing at Wembley in the final was a little diminished by the semifinals being held there, but ultimately it’s the clubs to blame for the current state it’s in….Pagan

We need to keep the replays in the FA cup, it’s a great source of income for teams from the lower leagues. If the big clubs don’t want to play in the cup then they should withdraw, however it’s a once in a lifetime decision, there’s no coming back when you don’t qualify for Europe….Pagan

Add to that he’s lost the moral high ground when he starts moaning about the amount of games they have to play…..Pagan

Blimey, reading through the pages and CM has had a baby boy, his next post says he hopes to get him on loan, well I know babies keep you up at night but I thought that’s a bit extreme.
Seriously though congratulations CM, enjoy the ride, just remember, kids are your parents revenge……Pagan

We’ve had some poor results just lately, and the focus is on the strikers for not scoring enough, and the defence conceding too many, these need to be looked at as how we’re playing as a team not as individual errors.
Goal scoring, Tammy is a fox in the box, however he needs room to operate, we’re far too slow going forward, by the time the ball gets played into the opposition box there’s 6+ players in it defending, so no room. We play more intricate passing in our own box rather than moving the ball forward quickly. If anyone has a recording of the first Arsenal game, have a look at what happened after they scored, we didn’t get out of our own half for two minutes, by which time they’d had to attempts on our goal. Tuesday again we went one up against ten men and were taking a dozen passes to get out of our own half, I’ve seen more forward passes in rugby.
Defensive wise, we push up slowly and camp in their half, switching the play slowly usually four or five passes each way, the defenders get higher and higher to join in, we lose the ball, they break at speed and we concede.
This is not a criticism of any individual, it’s a team thing where the mentality seems to be trying not to make any errors rather than taking the game to the opposition, in short we’re playing to our weaknesses rather than our strengths….Pagan

Following the women’s World Cup last year where VAR was used to check the goalkeeper’s position during penalties, the powers that be decided not to use it for penalty kicks going forward as it resulted in the vast majority of kicks being retaken for the keeper not having a foot on or above the line by very tiny margins, which caused a lot of controversy and really slowed the game down…..Pagan

442, more importantly we’re starting to learn how to play football again, give the ball to Hazard is park footy for the under 10s.
Hopefully we develop a style, buy in players that suit the said style if there’s not a home grown option, and then push on over the next couple of seasons……Pagan

On another note, bit miffed it’s the FA Cup this weekend, the thread title, bearing in mind Saturday is the 25th of January needed to be “Game Week xx, Liverpool on fire, Burns night for for everyone else”……Pagan

Watching the Stoke West Brom game, and as you know I’m quite fond of playing with words, and with that in mind I’d really like to see Stoke win a trophy, just so the players could bring their families onto the Wembley pitch.
It’s a headline writers dream, Sam Clucas with his wife and kids, walking round the pitch or as they’d be know the Clucas Clan…..Pagan

Sean, just because your eyes are on the ball doesn’t mean it’s not a foul, he jumped into the keeper and irrespective of whether his arms are up or down, in this day and age it’s always going to be a foul…..Pagan

Sean, unfortunately in this day and age keepers are a protected species, and it seems any contact is regarded as a foul. Having said that he did jump into him (which he had to if he wanted to challenge for the ball) and if you jump into a player it doesn’t matter if your hands are up or down.
Personally I’d like to see a little bit less protection for keepers, but that’s the way it is and as such the goal was ruled out in line with today’s precedents…Pagan

I’ve not watched Chelsea play much this season, but from what I have seen, they seem to be playing to their weakness.
They look really good breaking forward really quickly, but struggle to break down a week set defence, which then begs the question why do they play out from the back so slowly….Pagan
