Chuckles, grunge signalled the start of the end of rock musics mass popularity, it was massive from 79 to 89, but the bands became too big for themselves. Saw Nirvana at Trent Polytechnic in 90, was told they were going to be made into the next big thing, to be honest if I’d paid to get in I’d have asked for my money back.

I was very fortunate to be the right age for the classic bands, the NWOBHM and what followed, spent a fortune on records, gigs and T-shirts, the bands I wish I’d seen, The Who with Keith Moon, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Marc Bolan and The Sex Pistols (although I did see them when they reformed)….Pagan

Cast your minds back 7 months or so, the main topic of conversation was “what are we going to talk about” VAR was to be implemented and the fear was that everything would be clinical and there would be no contentious decisions to talk about.

How wrong we were, VAR became the main topic, it’s forensic examination of offsides and handballs and it’s inability to spot the clear and obvious errors, so much so it detracted from the actual football.

Then the sheer dominance of Liverpool came into the conversation, non Pool fans handing them the title whilst they wouldn’t accept it until the season was over and the trophy was engraved and in the cabinet.

Well here we are now, Footy has really become irrelevant, looking out for your loved ones is now the priority, but try to do this with others in mind. My youngest best friend’s brother is celiac, their family is struggling to get gluten free food and ingredients as others are stockpiling and non celiacs are buying the ingredients as normal flour etc has temporarily sold out. I’ve heard stories of young mothers being in tears in supermarkets as they can’t get formula milk as others have bought trolleys full of it……Pagan

I had a chat to the Liverpool fan that works for me today, he goes home and away and all over Europe. His stance on it was that we need to finish before the end of May, he doesn’t want the season to be extended, he doesn’t want any rules to be changed. The statement that made me laugh was he doesn’t want Liverpool to be the Ferrari of Football….Pagan

I think it’s safe to say that we’d all like to see this season completed, but it has to be completed in a timescale that doesn’t affect the 20-21 season. The 20-21 season has a finish date that will be decided by the start of the Euros. The Euros can’t be held too late in the year as we have a World Cup to fit in mid season of 21-22 and still need to finish football and get a decent break in before the next season.

For myself I wouldn’t like to lose any of the domestic cup competitions (not fair on all the clubs not in European competition) and we can’t lose the European cups as that’s one of the reasons we want to finish this season.

So I think they need to set a cut off date for this season, which is if we don’t start playing by the start of June then they have the big decision of either voiding the season or finishing as the league stands now.

The governing bodies need to sit down, make a decision and then everyone knows where they are and the litigation can begin….Pagan

9, you’re right, it doesn’t matter, the country will go into lock down, how long that lasts is anyone’s guess, coming out of it will take months as the whole infrastructure will be in disrepair, hopefully the essentials, gas, electricity, water, railways, roads, fuel will be able to cope…..Pagan

So we get to the end of June and there’s no sight of footy starting again, what do we do?

Simple get the captains of each side together, each armed with a coin, heads counts as one goal, tails nil, both toss their coins and we have a result. Not ideal but at least we get a result…..Pagan

The main problem is when are we going to play footy again, and we don’t know the answer to that. So we need two plans, if we can get going September/October, then we start a new season and thrash out who’s in what league and prepare for that, if it doesn’t look like it will start until the new year then we continue this one…Pagan

9, it will be a 23 team league, that’s 44 games plus cups, just means more squad rotation and maybe a few other teams giving their youth a go. Chelsea got forced into it and it’s not worked out to bad…..Pagan
