Adlab, it was bound to happen sooner or later, this is the start of football’s implosion, the current model was never sustainable if there was a financial meltdown…..Pagan

9, that game meant Leicester won the league, think where they were with 9 games to go the previous season, that’s why we either have to complete the season or void it……Pagan

Brian has hit the nail on the head, “Sean…there is no way they cannot AWARD the title to Liverpool” the key point being AWARD, which is the same word being used by all the articles I’ve seen about all the leagues currently suspended.
Being awarded something is far different to winning something…..Pagan

Mak, you wouldn’t judge the best ever player in the Premier League over one season, so why would you judge the best ever team over just one?
By only using one season, all you can say is that they were the best team over those 38 games, or 29 as it is now.
When Leicester won the league there was a lot of talk about the rest of the league being weak or underperforming, could that not also be said about this season.

Chuckles, I’ve seen refs carry little cards they give to gobby parents that say “You seem to know a lot about football, how about becoming a referee? Then there’s a web address for the FA learning site to book a refs course.
One lad the start of this season got a bit gobby with my eldest, who just said “if you don’t stop arguing I’ll sin bin you” the lad said “do it then I don’t care” off he went. The players manager asked why he’d been sin binned and was told, the lad came out of the bin and straight onto the bench.
As for penalties from anywhere on the pitch, I totally agree for cynical tackles or diving…..Pagan

Chuckles, that rule is already in in grass roots footy, dissent gives you a yellow card and period of time in the sin bin (duration dependent on age) do it again and you get a second yellow and back in the sin bin, if you get two sin bins you can’t return to the game but it doesn’t count as a red card so no suspension.
As for no yellow card, dissent is a yellow card offence so go with the same rules as grass roots…..Pagan

Both Sunderland and Crewe furlough their players and some of their staff, that should be interesting should it spread to the big clubs….Pagan

9, I think businesses should be made to justify why they have to furlough each individual, why their job doesn’t need to be done and why they can’t afford to keep them on, they should also have to explain what those they keep on do and why their job is essential to the business.
Football club wise, I would think the grounds staff would need to be kept on along with some admin staff. I could see it being difficult to justify keeping match day staff on when there’s no footy being played, but equally difficult to justify the players being kept on.
It’s also going to be a bitter pill for those that are furloughed by their club, being told by your employer that they haven’t got the money to pay them, to then see them a few months down the road spend tens if not hundreds of millions in the transfer window…..Pagan

442, I’m not so sure that you can totally blame the players, if they pay their taxes through PAYE, then they contribute quite a lot. As some of the highest paid individuals in the country if the decide to donate to the NHS or some other body to help the less fortunate in this difficult time then well done to them.
The thing that grates on me is the clubs have laid off their lowest paid staff who probably don’t have a great deal of savings to see them through this and furloughed them, but continued to pay the highest earners who have enough wealth to see them through their lifetime. Shame on the clubs who are content to pay players vast sums of money which must amount to millions a month whilst taking government money to pay their lowest paid employees …..Pagan

Having thought about the situation, we’ve been very quick to have a go at the players for not taking a pay cut, why should they get the choice to do so? I think you have to look at the clubs themselves, they didn’t give the everyday employee a choice, they just furloughed them, why should the players get treated any differently, it’s almost as if the clubs are scared of them, a taste of reality may just do some of them some good……Pagan

9, with there being no footy played at the moment, then it stands to reason the players are currently as unimportant to the clubs as the match day staff, maybe they should be furloughed too…Pagan
