Hightown, the problem is not how much football players earn, it’s the fact the clubs were taking the government’s money and furloughing the lowest paid workers whilst still paying the players vast amounts every week and still plotting to spend millions in the transfer market…..Pagan

The UK is a country where we want to be paid well and yet buy goods cheaply, hence we’re no longer a bulk manufacturer. We rely on imports from developing countries who have cheap labour. As we’re seeing now, we have become reliant on them, and to get the things we want we’re having to compete financially for them, factor in the fact that the countries that are manufacturing the products also require them, procurement becomes very difficult.
For the past 30 years plus, as a county we’ve gone down the education, education, education road, where the younger generation don’t want to get their hands dirty, well karma’s a bitch ain’t it.
As a country we’ll pull through, because that’s what we do, hopefully when this settles down the manufacturing industry will have a resurgence…..Pagan

To be fair I’m really fortunate, still going in to work everyday, the Mrs. Is working from home, the eldest is furloughed and the youngest has finished school.
Really missing the grass roots sports though, that took up most nights and both Saturday and Sunday, but that’s nothing to what a lot of people are going through.
TV wise, currently watching Inside No.9, which is strangely addictive, not really a TV person so I have loads to catch up with.
Take care all…..Pagan

Mav, I know, google translate is a wonderful thing, however I thought my explanation was better. Another interesting point was the fact Chuckles was using a Commodore 64, which not only was a sponsor for Chelsea pre Roman, but also goes to prove that he like most Spurs fans are living in the past???…..Pagan

Chuckles,
I’ve had a look in my Football Supporting for Dummies book and,
“Это никак не связано с миллиардом рублей”
Appears in the technical terms explained chapter and in layman’s terms it comes out as
“Here’s what you could have won”
Funnily enough that’s also the layman term for the screen message “Willian”

Parky, hard times for you, hope they all pull through, stay strong mate.
On another note, traffic on the site is understandably down as football is irrelevant really at the moment, is it worth having a roll call thread where the regular, not so regular and even any new posters just check in say on a Saturday or Sunday to keep us all up to date on their health and we’ll being?

9, UEFA Have far to high an opinion of themselves, it’s not the competition that’s the draw it’s the teams in it. How much would the competition worth without the teams from England, Spain, Germany, Italy and France in it? Even if only one or two countries were excluded the drop in viewing numbers would greatly reduce the amount of money they could command from sponsorship and in match adverts. Personally I think it’s all bluff and self importance bravado from the corruption kings of sport…..Pagan

So the Premier League meet and decide they’re committed to finishing the League, so basically no further forward

Nice to see Trump has gone all General Melchett with the pandemic

9, my only problem with the Scottish vote was the fact it was financially driven, not football driven….Pagan

Chuckles, I posted a Captain Tom link yesterday, pity he wasn’t a major though.
Bit disappointed by The Queen, she should have been there to knight him as he crossed the line….Pagan

9, I’m well aware of which side of the cake factory were to be relegated and declared champions, I think it was Paxton who mentioned individual teams.
As for how the vote went, the choice was in reality between staying in business or going broke, not really a football choice.
It will be the same in England, the lower league teams will need the season to end in order to get the money they need to try and survive.
Also interesting that they use the phrase “declared champions” rather league winners…..Pagan

It would seem that Sky will not be asking for any money back from the Premier League for the current season, however they won’t be handing any money over for the next season until it starts. That puts a different slant on the situation…..Pagan
