For me, the season needs to be completed under the same conditions it started With in order for it not to lose its integrity, that’s home and away fixtures with crowds and with VAR. Anything else and the legitimacy of the competition is called into doubt…..Pagan

Well another week has flown by, work is hectic, which is good, evenings a bit boring with no grass roots sport.

Brian seems to be back on form which is great to see, Eds reappeared which again is good, would be nice for Mak to post even if it is just a thumbs up. Mixed week for 9 by the sounds of it, condolences from here to your family, Parky has had a tough time, wishing him well.

Quick request for Ed, I know Nil is banned from the site, but despite his flaws he was a part of this forum for quite a while, it may be nice if you could drop him a Personal mail just to check he’s ok and let us know.

Adlab, we can only go back to where we were if we have either a prevention (vaccine) or a cure (medicine) at the moment we have neither, all we’re doing at the moment is slowing the spread or rationing the disease.

The PL are desperate to get the league restarted, the immediate financial loss is a concern to them, but as this lockdown progresses fans are realising that football and other sports are just entertainment and are discovering where they actually sit in the order of importance in their lives. The addiction fans have for game where they’ll pay over the odds for their next fix wains the longer they go cold turkey, both the PL and the broadcasters realise this and know they need to maintain the supply to keep the addiction…….Pagan

HH, the priority football wise is not to get this season finished at the cost of next season’s league. Clubs have got at least 75% of their money for this season, do you seriously clubs will put all of next seasons money at risk against the chance they may not get the remaining 25% of this season’s?

As for your painting analogy, if your painting rooms for a living, and you run out of paint for for one room, would you then turn down your future work?

As I’ve said before, leagues are being very clever with the wording, they are not using void of cancel, but are saying the leagues have been abandoned, that gives them the option of awarding positions or not.

In grass roots footy, if a game is abandoned then the league committee get to decide the outcome, I’m sure that will also be what happens with any league that decides to abandon the current season……Pagan

Mav, I was of the understanding they’d follow the Dutch, no winners no losers. If you declare a winner then you also have to declare losers, and as such you open yourself up to litigation from the clubs from the next division down who would want promotion…..Pagan

If you look at the leagues, the best outcome financially if the league cannot be completed in a timely manner is to abandon this one and start afresh.

The current league is 75% complete, so the clubs will get at least 75% of their money, if They go for “complete this season at any cost” and next season doesn’t happen then they lose 100% of next season’s payments…..Pagan

The French have also “abandoned” the league, with no champions or relegations, they are however using current placement to decide on European qualification.

This is different to Voiding the league, as that would mean it never happened and current placement couldn’t be used….Pagan

The Champions League idea is just a way of protecting itself from the threat of a European Super League by pretty much becoming it.

The dates UEFA get I would think will be the preferred dated and the latest dates the domestic competitions would want/need to start. When all said and done it will be down to governments, but at least there will now be cut off dates. What happens if these are missed is the big question…..Pagan
