Yeah, just wear Hacket, CP or Stone Island (not to be confused with River Island) and you’ll blend right in…………Pagan

MistraMarvel, there are lies, damn lies and statistics. It’s no good having 70% of the possession if it’s all in your own half, you may have the most shots but they’re all from 30 yards, you get the most corners but do nothing with them. The only stat that really matters is goals, and no matter how you dress it up the team that deserves to win is the team that wins………Pagan

I was really hoping RatyRatae was going to comment on this. His beloved Leicester went into administration in the early 2000s owing £40ish million, which was roughly what they’d spent on their new stadium. The debt was written off causing hardship to those they owed, but it made the club an attractive investment, when Mr Duty Free eventually bought them, the rest as they say is history.
Obviously Leicester had a ground they owned, which Derby don’t, which means they actually had an asset other than just players.
Going into administration may in the long term help the club as it’s debts can get written off and they can reset, it can also end with the winding up of the club, and although you get “it’s the fans that suffer” you still have consider the people that the club owe money to, and I believe in Leicester’s case the contractor that built the stadium lost out on approximately £5m.
In Derby’s case, not only will the creditors lose, but you have to consider Wycombe, who finished 1 point and 1 place below Derby and were relegated……….Pagan

Seems a very odd thing to do, maybe Moyes should have sent for MistraMarvel, I’m sure his old teams used to in similar situations………..Pagan

I’ve not seen any of today’s games RatyRatae, but after a promising start to the season VAR does indeed seem to be back to its controversial best…………Pagan

Blaze, do you think the ESL, where the top 6 clubs in England tried to take the majority of the money was better than punishing clubs who try to break the financial rules?
In short Derby didn’t cut their cloth to suit and have to now face the consequences……..Pagan

Well on a slightly different note, Derby County go into administration, not a great surprise round here.
Can’t see how you can sell a club who are spending £1.33 for every £1 they turn over, their owner paid £80m for a stadium only worth £41m to cook the books, so can’t see him taking a £40m hit on that.
Forest are also in a bit of a mess, but with Derby in line for at least a 12 point deduction it may lift them of the bottom of the table

Nil, it’s been going on hundreds of years, when villages and towns had “footy” games, like the Ashbourne Shrovetide game, fights were commonplace.
It’s always been there, but as Brian points out, the crowd no longer go to see a match and appreciate the skills involved by both sides, they go to see their team win, and with that comes tribal conflict, and as in a lot of things, the younger fans try to emulate the romanticised top fan legends.
As for casuals, I think they came later than the crews of the 70s and 80s. I’ve never managed to understand the concept of spending £100s of pounds on a coat or sweatshirt then having a fight in it.
On a slightly different tack, but maybe a similar reason for the resurgence of the hooligan, my lads given up reffing as since lockdown, grass roots parents have become far more aggressive and abusive………..Pagan

The youngsters are trying to live up to the reputation of crews of the late 70s and early 80s, it’s the same at Millwall, it’s not the 60 odd year old blokes of the original F Troop, or the original Lunatic Fringe at Derby, the faces change but name remains the same…………Pagan

Return of the Baby Squad at Leicester, trouble at West Brom v Millwall at the weekend, with the Baggies lot then having more trouble with Mansfield’s lot later on.
In general it seems that hooliganism is on the rise………Pagan

RatyRatae, yes Pep is probably an exception, but he was in the right place and the right time with Barca, Ole, Frank and Arteta all took over clubs who to a certain extent weren’t in the best shape. Ole’s done ok so far, but obviously he needs to kick on now and be consistently in the hunt for the big trophies…….Pagan
