9, it may be 99.9% correct judging the evidence it is given, however it’s only as accurate as the guess when the ball moves forward.
Nil, It’s wrong to blame the officials, they have to act on the evidence they’re given against the laws of the game, and as time goes on the laws will be rewritten to make them black and white so VAR becomes infallible.
We will end up with a game that is played 100% within its laws, but it won’t be the game that we grew up with…..Pagan

Sean, totally agree with you, myself and Chuckles were dead against it prior to it being brought in, and we were a minority of two.
It’s hard on the ref as they have to act within the laws of the game with the evidence given to them, no more common sense, no more taking into consideration the conditions, VAR doesn’t allow for wind or rain.
The cry last year was it was ruining the game for the match going fans, well thanks to COVID, we now know it’s just ruing the game as a whole…..Pagan

Nil, basically it’s any part of the body you can score with, and that’s always been the case.
As for wrong decisions, you just didn’t get them last season, it’s no different this season for the vast majority of teams. It was rubbish last season and it’s no better this…..Pagan

Nil, 18 months ago you were calling for VAR due to the amount of errors the officials were making, now you say they’re more reliable?…..Pagan

Nil, I’ve had a look at that, and I would say if you could digitally move the camera angle to level with play then his armpit is offside. That’s the trouble with VAR, The officials have to go to the letter of the law, even if there’s doubt about the accuracy of the system (it’s only a best guess when the ball actually starts to move forward) then they have to go with the evidence they get….Pagan

Offside does not consider the position of the arm/hands and that includes the goalkeeper.
I’ve not seen the incident but when the lines are drawn they are perpendicular to the touch lines, which is different to the picture we look at, so although a picture never lies it may not tell the whole truth.
Once again not having seen it, if it’s too close to call by the naked eye in real time then go with what assistant indicates, obviously if it’s a real howler then VAR should intervene….Pagan

The problem with Prem players is their ego’s, managing and learning a trade in the lower leagues is way beneath them…..Pagan

And there’s the conundrum, Chelsea have been held to task for constantly changing their manager, but it’s now become the norm, there’s a lot of call for patience and stability, but not a lot of it…..Pagan

It would be interesting if this type of forum was available 30 years ago and you could go back and look at the comments about the then Man United manager….Pagan

Yet another bollocks decision, the laws are rubbish, VAR is used to enforce bollocks Laws, whatever happened to common sense…..Pagan

At the moment I can’t see them stopping footy at the top level, if things get worse generally or we start to see cases within teams then there will be a choice to make, pause the season or make teams bubble together…. pagan

9, unfortunately your right, VAR is used to rule out goals for offside that the vast majority of fans would take on the chin as they’re far to close to call, but isn’t used to stop the things the fans wanted it to sort out. Quite how we got to this situation beggars belief, the knight in his shining armour riding in on his white horse has become one of the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse……Pagan

9, I thought that VAR was there to correct refereeing errors, that was the point of it. You can’t keep reviewing reviews.
As for making it a red card offence, I’m not sure as it’s too subjective, for me simulation, no contact should be a straight red and should be an easy enough decision with VAR. Simulation, maybe a warning that carries through a season, once you hit x then there’s a punishment as it’s a behaviour issue…Pagan

9, it’s too late to review the decisions on Monday if they’ve already been reviewed at the time. VAR was meant to sort out exaggeration, instead it encourages it…..Pagan
