Nil, looking at figures, football isn’t really doing any better than joe public, they’re not doing much different to most well run businesses, the only main difference is they have a testing regime. The governing bodies set out protocols which included in game behaviours, such as socially distanced goal celebrations and final whistle conduct, this is clearly not happening, so you have to start doubting the practice behaviours of teams and social behaviours of individuals.

As for the testing regime, why are the numbers tested in every round so different, surely it should be everyone every time……Pagan

Hi Nil,

Had a break from social media and stuff over Christmas, decided to enjoy it this time. I missed it the year before as I had food poisoning for 10 days and was on the verge of being hospitalised. Although we kept to ourselves for the break it was nice to spend time with the family.

As for the situation, it’s a difficult one for footy, they’re not doing much different to most workplaces except for the testing, so most infections are coming in from their kids or partners and then into the workplace. The problem with pausing the league is it has to finish in time for the Euros So there’s no way to extend the season….Pagan

Nil, I think you need to go back to when the laws were written and understand why they were written that way. I’ve reffed matches as have both my kids,I’ve also run the line countless times. Teams wear different coloured kits, stockings, shorts, jerseys are different colours, this is not only for the players benefit as they would probably only have different coloured jerseys, but also for the ref and lino (as they were) when looking across the line your just looking for which colour is in front. Whilst VAR would probably like the feet to be used as it’s probably prone to less error the laws of the game are written for the whole game, in the laws of the game VAR is not prescribed, it’s just approved for use, it’s the competition rules that insist on its use, remember 99% of footy is played on a park and the laws of the game have to be written to cover all footy…..Pagan

Nil, I’m not sure you’ve grasped the concept of crime and punishment.

In a penalty it’s the attacking team that have been wronged, therefore the defending team take the punishment, that is to say the penalty taker should have the advantage.

In offside it’s the defending team that have been wronged, therefore the attacking team take the punishment, that is to say the defender should have the advantage.

As far as penalties go, it’s only recently that a goalkeeper could actually move, not so limping ago they had to stay still until the ball was kicked, it as then changed so he could move side to side, they have never until the current ruling been able to move forwards…..Pagan
