9, are you saying that VAR should only be used for clear and obvious errors?….Pagan

Ed, no one can really define unnatural, the bodies instinct is to protect and to balance, unless it’s an undeniable intent then it shouldn’t be handball, however of course that brings in inconsistency, the only way to get rid of inconsistency is any contact is handball, well they tried that and it was farcical, so we’ll just have to live with what we have now…..Pagan

Away from the Chelsea game, my overall impression from the weekend’s footy is how far removed it is from having any integrity at all.
The Liverpool match was on in the background and the commentators were praising a Liverpool player for staying on his feet, well logically from that it means that any contact made wasn’t enough to make the player go down, so the only way he could have gone to ground was of his own volition, hence the commentators were actually praising a player for not cheating, is that really the state of the game nowadays?……Pagan

The BBC match report has an interesting photo of the penalty incident, see link below, the ball undoubtedly hits the hand of CHO, however at the same time his arm is in contact with the defenders arm, so limits CHO’s ability to move his hand out of the way, whether the ref took this into account we don’t know. Yesterday it wasn’t a penalty, the next game it may be, and that’s the bit that causes controversy…..Pagan

Interesting you ask why are they still classed as the big 6 still, they’re probably the named big 6 from “Project Big Picture”……Pagan

We have to take positives from this, 18 months ago we had one of the worst defences in the league, currently only one team has conceded less goals, Tommy Tickle has had 7 league games and only shipped 3 goals I think, so we can see where he’s building from…..Pagan

Nil, out of interest where should his arm be? It’s a natural movement to put your arms out when you’re slowing down especially when going towards someone or something, interestingly both players had their arms in similar positions which would indicate a natural position. I don’t know other than if it hits your hand it’s handball how you can ever get it totally consistent as you open it up to interpretation…..Pagan

I saw the free kick, but not the bit leading up to it, so I didn’t see if the ref signalled to say wait for the whistle. Although it’s not in the laws of the game, when the ref says wait for the whistle, they make sure both teams are ready, if they don’t they could be accused of bias. Personally I think waiting for the defending team to set up a wall takes away any advantage the attacking should have, which really isn’t right…..Pagan

Cont. as this bit didn’t seem to send
I didn’t see the actual incident live, so I don’t 100% know if the ref signalled to wait for the whistle, but it is the only logical explanation…..Pagan

I would say that the ref has said wait for the whistle, in which case both teams then have to be ready for the restart of the game, he’s then blown his whistle not realising the keeper is still organising the wall, hence his second whistle to stop it when he realise his mistake. Why he needed VAR to sort it is the question, he should just have explained and had the kick retaken.

9, by that logic the integrity of the season has already been affected as some games have had fans already this season…..Pagan

It may not be the career path he wants, but I think he’d make a very good pundit, he’s quite a media friendly sort of person…..Pagan

Well it’s a fishbowl in Glasgow, doesn’t really get the scrutiny in the English press, however it’s probably just enough pressure to learn under.
It’s a shame it didn’t work out at Chelsea, and he was poorly equipped experience wise for the job, and quite possibly without the transfer ban wouldn’t have been in the running. Logically, you’d think starting in the lower leagues and working your way up gaining experience as you go would be the path to take, however the top players seem to think that playing under a top manager means you’ll be a good manager, unfortunately that’s not the case as you only see how you get managed, most managers manage each person as an individual as different players respond to different techniques, and those other techniques are what they need to learn…..Pagan

Whilst it may be a two horse race it may be somewhere that Frank can learn the man management, psychological, and motivational side of the job away from the toxic pressure of the Premier league and Championship…..Pagan

Ed, I read something a few months ago, he was born in Germany, moved to England and went through the Chelsea academy. From what I remember Chelsea wanted him to stay, but he sees himself as German and despite having played at age level for England, wants to represent what he sees as his Nation, so I believe his mind was made up…..Pagan

Mikus with you on that, child prodigies don’t get a normal upbringing, they miss out on social learning, Michael Jackson, Britney Spears etc. and yes Tiger Woods would fall into that category…..Pagan
