Brian, I don’t think you can control faking injuries, the ref is never going to overrule medical experts, having a neutral doctor is an option, but not one that the clubs would support…..Pagan

Lucky, that ideas been doing the rounds for decades, the problem with it is that the game doesn’t have a finishing time and the match could last well over two hours, that makes it difficult for fans to get home by public transport especially for night matches. The same reason will now also be cited by broadcasters as this will affect their scheduling.
We also have to make sure we have one game, the laws of the game should be the same from the park to the prem…….Pagan

Brian, not sure about 4, I think your proposal would be really open to abuse, one nil up with five to play, the stretcher would be on every game…..Pagan

We talk about players goal hanging, but if there’s no offside law then the defending team won’t be trying to catch the opposition in an offside position and will always try to have players goal side…..Pagan

Why do we have a failed prem manager in charge of the U21s, that’s so that they mirror the senior side……Pagan

They could also adapt the icing rule from ice hockey so it limits the long ball, that is to say divide the pitch into 4 equal sections, and you can only play the ball 2 sections…..Pagan

Different eras, but both Chelsea and Forest thought it better to invest in new stands rather than the team, didn’t go well for either of them…..Pagan

The general talk around Derby is confirmed, the sale of the club has fallen through despite the prospective buyers being instrumental in appointing Rooney. The club losing money, and any new owner probably wanting to buy the ground off Morris are muted sticking points in any deal, this could all go horribly wrong for Derby County…..Pagan

That’s a great answer 9, however it’s incorrect as MisstraMoos is never wrong😀…… Pagan

9, they’re not rules, they’re laws.
The guardians of the laws need to clarify and instruct, referees are there to uphold the laws not interpret them….Pagan

9, the refs are there to uphold the laws of the game, the PGMOL is there to supply officials and to evaluate their performance. It’s the FA that controls the laws of the game and their interpretation, only when they recognise and decide to do something about cheating can we move towards eradicating it…..Pagan

9, whilst refs need to start giving decisions like that, and be supported in doing so, I believe it’s also the responsibility of the governing bodies, they’re quite good at rewriting offside laws and hand ball laws, but seem not to want to address the problems of cheating within the game. My take on this is that if they address it, then they have to admit that cheating is rife within the game and they’re not prepared to do that.
Another thing that may help is if the ref could signal he’s playing advantage, and if no advantage is gained then he will come back to the incident, they do it in rugby with no time limit, so there’s no reason that it can’t be introduced into football…..Pagan

9, it was missed by the ref, which happens as he only gets one look and that may be obstructed. It wasn’t an error by VAR, it was a total failure.
The points for me are.
Not all contact is a foul.
A foul doesn’t need to put you to ground.
No one should be saying you have to exaggerate to get a foul if that’s what it is.
Players will dive and exaggerate if they are rewarded for doing so.
Players aren’t punished for cheating, a cynical foul that stops a goal scoring opportunity is a straight red, getting caught cheating by trying to create a goal scoring opportunity is only a yellow card.
None of the above are being addressed by the governing bodies, so it must be taken that they don’t think it’s a problem.
Pundits, players, managers, ex players etc. encourage it with phrases like “he should go down in that situation” “ he feels contact so he has a right to go down”
We have to accept refs will get things wrong, VAR should correct those errors, that should be the easy part.
Cheating seems to be acceptable in football, and to some degree encouraged, until this aspect of it is addressed, and to do that it needs to be admitted that it’s a problem then there’s no way it will change. Most other sports seem to have far higher morals than football. In that sentence lies the problem…..Pagan

In order for it to change, as we’ve all said, fouls need to be given even if a player doesn’t go down as long as it is a foul and not just contact. In order for the refs to give them and conversely not give dives and exaggerations then they need the support of the controlling bodies the pundits and the fans, this needs to be all about stopping cheating, and the first thing that needs to happen is for the game in general to admit they have a problem.
If VAR was successful at doing this then the negative talk we have at the moment about it would just be background noise……Pagan

9, that’s the problem, there’s no stigma for cheating, it’s accepted and rewarded, until that changes we’re stuck with it, yep have a review panel, if you get caught cheating 6 match ban rising exponentially if you’re a serial cheat……Pagan
