The January window if used correctly can be brilliant, it may not be the best time to get players in to affect the current season, but if used to talk to players to show your summer plans, or even better to sign for the next season it can be a great opportunity. Chelsea did this with Robben and Cech, and you would think others have done the same and may explain why some teams get their business done early in the summer…Pagan

26th December 2017 at 8:31 pm in reply to: Christmas and New year fixtures up until 4th Jan (Including Predictions) #10022I realised that 9, but the difference in spend (although vast in real terms) is not that much player wise. Jose is a great motivator in the short term, but heโs not a builder of teams. Pep is showing he may have that talent, but time will tell if he can maintain the harmony at a club with a squad of top players who all want to be in the starting 11…Pagan

26th December 2017 at 7:59 pm in reply to: Christmas and New year fixtures up until 4th Jan (Including Predictions) #10015999, canโt see ยฃ80m making the difference between the two sides. Pep has put a team together playing the style of football he likes, Jose has assembled an expensive array of individuals….Pagan

Saw Bowie at Milton Keynes in 83 I think, Nirvana I saw at Trent Polytechnic, they were truly awful, but was reliably told that they would be massive by a record company man who was there…..Pagan

Big Fun, had to google them, I bow to your smash hits knowledge of pop music, which NB is not my forte.
Chickles, so Soundgarden at A&M, Alice in chains at Columbia and Nirvana at Geffen when they made their breakthroughs, not really small independent labels, bands promoted to the mssses through Sounds, NME, melody maker, Kerrang etc.
And yes jeans and t shirts was the ying to hair metals extravagances yang

Hair Metal, call it want you want, they were holding the music labels to ransom, couple that with their unreliability from drug abuse and the music industry was being dictated to by the bands, now thatโs not how the music industry works.
So the music industry went back to basics, found something they could get cheap and control and grunge was born, or rather marketed.
Soundgarden signed to A&M records in 89, itโs how it works in the music industry, the public wants what the publics given….Pagan

NB, 1989 was a strange year rock musically wise, saw the record industry trying to take back control from the hair metal scene. The Poisons, Motley Crues and Guns n Roses etc. had become too big for them to control, so they undermined them and started going back to basics, jeans and t shirts and relabelled it grunge….Pagan

Hamsters, never knew what you were going to get, a ZZ Top set, a Hendricks set or a general blues rock set. Not only great musicians but everyday music lads, would talk about it at the bar, influences, equipment whatever.
Always thought your handle was to do with the band, now I know itโs not Iโll confess, I did have a 999 pin badge, but used to wear it upside down….Pagan
