Yes Chelsea are poor tonight, but to focus on that is very disrespectful to Watford, they’ve got forward in numbers, closed down from the front brilliantly, and when needed to got back in numbers….Pagan

Chuckles, but they’re coached to do it, and until the clubs, players and ex players/pundits stop coaching it, doing it and justifying it, it won’t go away….Pagan

Don’t know, just no desire to go out and battle, I often go on about impact managers and there inability to be successful over a number of years at the same club, I’m now thinking that the players due to the cosseted life they live don’t really care about success and are quite happy to toss it off until the next manager comes in, kicks their arses and they up thier performance until they get comfortable again.
Let’s be honest, Conte’s pre match talk wasn’t “go out there, put no effort in its only kick about”….Pagan_____________________________

Soft or not, the keeper comes steaming out like that, forwards are always going to look for contact….Pagan

Chuckles, I know your stance on the diving/exaggeration epidemic, and you are consistent with you views whether it’s your Spuds or others, the debate is not do players from all teams do it, but how do we stamp it out….Pagan

Hightown, that’s the grey area, the rules I belive say deliberately play the ball, I was originally led to believe that it was deliberate as in the back pass rule, the refs on the TV seem to say deliberate attempt to play the ball and any contact with the ball is counted. As long as it’s consistent thems the rules, and the penalty stands….Pagan

Hightown, I was led to believe that if the defending player deliberately plays the ball then it’s not offside. However, yet again it’s open to debate what that means, yes he deliberately took a swing at the ball but slices it, so didn’t deliberately play the ball towards his goal, but he did deliberately play it, had it gone through to the keeper, could the keeper have picked it as you’d be hard pushed to claim it was a back pass. Yet again we have a law open to interpretation…..Pagan

Chelsea.man, stop looking to get a rise from the Liverpool/Spurs lads, the FA won’t investigate as in the current climate where professional (and now park) footballers are affected by gravity in a way us mere mortals can’t possibly comprehend, they were nailed on penalties, couple that with the recorded conversation between the two officials which shows that they came to the only decision they could given what they saw there can be no comeback on them. TV replays have shown that both penalties were correctly given taking into account the extreme gravitational effect experienced in the Liverpool penalty area towards the end of the game.
The fact payers from all clubs go to ground theatrically at the slightest or no contact is another debate entirely….Pagan

Chuckles, if those two penalties had been given against Chelsea, immaterial if TV had proved otherwise that they weren’t, I wouldn’t have been upset by them as we got to see how they came to be given based on what both officials saw. Personally I think the last 10 mins of that game have shown us an alternative to VAR, which to me was faster and better than what we’ve so far seen from technology….Pagan

Beni, was on a tablet that wasn’t mine and didn’t know where the smiley face things were.
Any way back on mine, maybe I should have used the phrase overly sensitive???
Was going to go with a spuds comment after the last paragraph, but didn’t want to GO DOWN that route as that would be too EASY…..Pagan

As I’ve said before, I like NB, yes his passion gets the better of him sometimes, and the addition of alcohol sometimes makes him incoherent, but on the whole he’s harmless.
In his defence he missed Liverpool’s glory years, but he’s still got the Liverpool DNA, where they have to blame everyone else for their fall from being the best team in Europe. I think what irks him most is that on the Liverpool page, come the inevitable losses they like to be in their own company with a big dose of poor old me, licking their wounds, unfortunately as is the way with football that doesn’t happpen, as opposition fans will come along and rub salt in those same wounds.
He just needs to understand that if you want to be Johnny Big Potatoes when you win, someone’s going to mash your spuds when you lose…… Pagan_____________________________

Mak, so you can just kick someone then, Lamela put his body between defender and ball, Dick just kicks him, penalty all day, as for Kane, yes he did make the most of the contact, unfortunately that’s the modern game. I believe you always get what you deserve in football, it was a draw and one point each is what both teams deserved….Pagan

9, agree with you there, however the offside law is no longer a law it’s an opinion.
I thought the first Spurs pen was offside, yes it came off the Pool defender, but I thought it had to be a deliberately played ball, as it the back pass rule. If the keeper had picked it up it wouldn’t have counted as a back pass. The whole offside law needs to be re written so it’s black and white, would make things a whole lot easier.
The best thing though was we saw how the decisions were made, and going by the things both the ref and assistant saw they gave the right decisions based on their view.
Great match to watch…..Pagan

Rained on and off here most of the day, big thumbs up to Notts County for £2 a ticket day, great atmosphere, loads of parents and kids, hopefully other clubs at their level will give it a go.
The kids that went all want to go again for the last match of the season, when it’s a bit warmer, will have to see what’s in the teams kitty and try and subsidise it a bit.
Notts County, thank you….Pagan

Back from the footy, great win for Notts County, best part of £30 worse off after paying for my youngests kid’s team to go and watch, but worth it as they all had a great time, only paid for the tickets, parents paid for transport and Maccies.
Took them 18 months ago ish to watch England Ladies at Meadow Lane, someone in the FA had the great idea of giving all the kids whistles on the way in, great idea that was (not)….Pagan
