9 it’d be to close to call if we were playing well, they are ahead & playing pretty good, we can’t win away from home & have lost our ruthlessness. They have a superior for & against & have a pretty easy run in bar manu, we still have spurs & your lot as well as a couple of very tricky away games.
I’ve said it for months, they will win it. Yes we’ve done awesome to push them so far but at the end of the day no one will remember that. No more from me on this, we will see at seasons end.

Woo 16 mil, that’s 5 bucks to you & I. Reduced C/L squad, so they have a couple less top quality internationals on the bench, that means they can be fresher for the EPL.
They only spent that this season because their squad was so far ahead of everyone else that’s all they had to spend. Our mob pushing them a bit this season will change that, they’ll spend big again next window & we’ have to follow if we want to keep up.
Either way they’ll be up around the top again next season mate, the useless FIFA could put a season long transfer ban on them & they’d still be up around the top, their squad is that far ahead of the rest.

Yeah Nil no doubt we’ve done excellent to be where we are, I’ve never said otherwise. What got me going with the “negative stuff” was when some were predicting titles not even half way through the season. I kept hearing how we were 7 points ahead whilst not playing well but the way we play had changed from last season & we were never going to start blowing teams away again, it’s just not what we do this season.
I’m no expert but when I looked at city’s squad in comparison it’s not hard to see they would handle injuries a lot better than we could & over a full season I fully expected them to wear us down & win the EPL.
Your spot on mate, our away form is killing us, we just can’t win away from home & that’ll be a decisive factor in not winning, along with depth.
I’ve said it a few times but I honestly still believe the way we now play is why the lads up top aren’t firing very well. IMO our best form of defence is attack & with VVD marshalling the D I think we’d still be better at the back than last season if we went full heavy metal again. I think we’ve lost that fear factor as teams know we won’t be as ruthless going forward.
Ultimately we will finish a very respectable 2nd behind the most expensively assembled squad in EPL history & that’s nothing to be sneezed at. I’d just enjoy it more if we were having a good crack & going for the win in games, like Sean said it’s like we tried not to lose a couple of recent games.

Good win for our mob, bit disappointed to concede 2 but good to score 4. I didn’t see the game but hopefully we looked good going forward & created a few chances, I might even watch a few games if we start having a crack again.

On the title of this thread, going forward we need a rich oil baron to take over the club or we will continue to fight for top 4 & challenge the rich clubs every few seasons. That’s not a shot at FSG, they have been great owners & done everything they said they would but it’s not enough when your competing with pretty much unlimited funds.
Yeah I know ffp, cause it’s made such a difference so far hasn’t it.

Chucks I’m with you on this diving mate, all those marking excuses for diving are part of the reason for it getting worse. Every team has the chance to do it, there was minimal contact (ie a finger touched him), it’s part of the dark arts etc etc. Whilst people are making excuses for it or trying to justify it it’ll never change. Oh we got a tough game this weekend, might dive a few times & try my luck. It’s disgraceful & the biggest blight on the game, even more so than the who spends wins scenario we have these days for me.

Yeah mate I don’t think we will win anything major under Klopp but who do we get though if /when we don’t? Unfortunately for us we have our best manager & squad in over a decade but we are up against the most expensively assembled squad in history. Just bloody well all out attack again ffs, at least it’s exciting to watch. I can handle getting beat if we are going for it but this more reserved approach is s****ing me. As I’ve said many times, go down swinging.

Yeah Nil BB made a good point there, media doesn’t help one bit. As for money, mate we did spend a lot but in honesty it pails into insignificance to what city have spent. I suppose I wouldn’t be as down on footy if we were all guns blazing like last season as I loved watching us regardless of the result (obviously wanted to win) & I get trying to balance the team but IMO we have gone to far & I reckon that’s why the lads up top aren’t firing as much this season. As for next season you’ll have manu back up there again & I don’t think city will get any weaker, I actually think they’ll strengthen again so it’ll be pretty predictable again.
Anyway as you say mate, there’s a lot more important things in life than football.

Pagan, couple of very good analogies there mate, not much passion in any shirt these days, it’s a job. Even though we won zilch last season I loved watching us play as we had a crack at every team home or away. Now we still aren’t going to win anything but are nowhere near as good to watch. I can’t justify the 1,2,3 4 or 5 am get ups to watch it any more. Unless it’s after a night on the sauce & I’m still on a high from moonwalking all over the dance floor (probably shouldn’t say that with all this stuff about wacko Jacko coming out).

Mak I haven’t watched a game in a month & don’t miss it. I keep hearing the EPL is the toughest of all the comps, we’ll it might be with no city but as predicted their depth has shown how far ahead they are of everyone else. Missing many key players throughout the season & still win it. No matter which way you try to spin it the bottom line is city simply have too much money for others to compete with over a full season. The only way anyone will compete with them in the near future is if this oil baron thing comes off for manu, other than that expect another city win next season. The Sheikh wasn’t kidding when he said they’d win every year. I predicted they’d have it wrapped up with a few games to spare & still think they will. Even if it goes down to a couple to go it don’t matter, I think pretty much everyone knows who’s going to win it.
As for LFC, probably best season for over a decade & still win nothing, I still say I’d rather we played like last season & win nothing than like we have this season. We were exciting to watch but not so this season. Anyhow lads enjoy the summer months, it’s starting to cool down here so that sucks but the positive is some southerly swells coming up the east coast. Cheerio chums.

Adlab difference is your replacements are far better than anyone else’s. look at us now, Salah off form & Firmino injured & we are average going off form. To be fair we haven’t really hit any heights attack wise but we can’t handle a couple of players injured/ off form & we are supposed to be your biggest threat.
BB mate youse are playing well though mate, we aren’t. Your controlling games & looking dangerous going forward, we are looking toothless. Trust me mate, you will win the EPL. No one can match your depth over a full season & the last 10 or so games is when depth starts showing, as we are finding out now.
GJ I know mate, it was for a bit of a laugh but a couple have mentioned it now so I’ll leave it as city, although out of habit I might slip a $ in there.

Brian, the point I’m making is every team get injuries but where most clubs are putting in 2nd string players to replace them, c$ty are putting in top quality internationals, hence winning titles everywhere. No other club can do that.
As for Klopp, he is the best manager we’ve had for years, he’s spent more than most managers we’ve had & assembled the best squad we’ve had for years. Last season we played some of the best attacking football we’ve played for years, very enjoyable to watch. Problem is he is up against the most expensive squad in history & despite spending a lot of money we just can’t compete over a full season & yet again we will win nothing. I ask though who the hell would we replace Klopp with? My only criticism is how IMO he has gone too far away from the heavy metal football of last season & is too cautious this season. For me This is why Salah & co up front aren’t as devastating as last season. I get trying to balance things but it’s gone too far the other way for me & we’ve lost that fear factor. If we are going down, go down swinging.

Err nil I’m NOT getting up to watch, as I said if we were playing like last season I probably would but it’s pretty hard to get up at 2 or 3am & not enjoy watching it.
I think You can’t handle the reality that we will probably have one of if not our best season ever points wise & still won’t win a thing. We simply can’t compete with the money c$ty have & at the end of the day money is all that matters.
All good nine, actually got 5-6ft swell tomorrow about an hour & half from where I live so I’ll be heading there pretty early to enjoy the day. Life for me is way too good to get to involved in a game of football.
