G’day all, hope you are all doing well. This super league happened in rugby league in Oz and died after a couple of seasons. Sadly this is why I don’t watch sport any more, it’s all about money and nothing else. Players just see sport as a job nowadays and don’t care who they play for as long as they get paid. The only passion comes from fans and since there’s been no fans at the games I haven’t watched a single game. I tried but after just hearing the thud of a kick echo through the air it just wasn’t for me. I didn’t see Liverpool win the title ( never thought I’d say that) or anything else to do with the game.
Anyhow stay safe all and here’s hoping the fans boycott the game and at least keep a bit of integrity about it. Take care.

We’re running out of steam lads, thank goodness we are so far ahead in the EPL. Hopefully we can see that up in the near future. Good luck to Athletico, very hard team to beat & I hope they win it. Just remember lads, it’s only a game of football, a lot more important things to worry about in life.

Well Sean/Threeps the form hasn’t really got any better so like Sean I think we are limping out of the C/L this week. Hoping for another special Anfield night but just can’t see past a draw or even a loss. The way we are playing I don’t think we’ll score against a well drilled team like them.

Just got the result, thank f for that. From what I’m reading we were once again pretty ordinary but yet again scraped by for the win. It’s gunna take another very special Anfield night to get past Athletico, it appears we are in a bad slump and it isn’t getting any better. I suppose I’d have taken the EPL title if offered at the start of the season so can’t complain but we had a chance to do some really special things this season ( not that the EPL isn’t special, it’s the holy grail for us considering we haven’t won it for so long and we are so close) and it appears the long season has caught up with the lads. Oh well, 3 more wins and I’d call that a bloody successful season.

I said a couple of weeks ago this season wasn’t over, we are in an ongoing slump & it appears the lads are struggling to get out of it. From what I’m reading we are lucky to only be 1 down & they are walking through us like a hot knife through butter.
Heading to bed so I can only hope they can pull their heads out of their proverbial & get a couple of goals.

Nine, I honestly didn’t want Athletico or Napoli as they’re the types of teams we struggle against. Both are very well drilled & very disciplined & I just hope the Anfield effect will get us through in the CL but I just can’t see it going off our recent form. Numerous players are dropping form at the same time & we can be grateful we built such a lead in the EPL.

As you know Sean I’ve never got carried away & this season is no exception. There’s no doubt we’ve been just scraping by in recent times & were lucky to get a couple of wins but this blip has been coming.
As for best teams ever, that’s just comical. 1 C/L in the last 15 years doesn’t elevate a team to that status, there’s a lot more trophies to even go close to that. We’ve had an amazing season & at times looked brilliant but I get the feeling the wheels are falling off & we will limp towards seasons end. I won’t be overly excited until that titles out of reach for everyone else & we can celebrate knowing we’ve finally got that EPL monkey off our backs.

BB the media has well and truly gone over the top. I agree with Sean, this is a great team but there has certainly been better. Well balanced with some real game changers but not like the dominant city teams of recent years. Hopefully a couple of EPL titles in the next couple of seasons & we can call them one of the greatest.

BBlue, well said mate, I haven’t been able to watch games so I can’t claim to be p’d by the lack of effort or whatever but everything I’ve been reading is how lucky we’ve been in a some recent games & how we’ve just scraped through. No mistake this loss was coming but after seeing the highlights it’s sad to see the lack of fight & urgency in the players. I get it’s been a crazy good season but the title isn’t even won yet & IMO we are not looking likely to get through in the CL considering the lack of form the lads have been showing. I won’t be relaxed about it until we win the required games & get the title sewn up because going off current form i can see some more losses coming up. This loss will either waken the lads up or they could crumble under pressure, it’ll be interesting to see what happens.

Truth be told that has been coming. Haven’t played well for a while now & it’s caught up with us. I think at this point of the season that game just came down to who wanted it more & with them in a relegation battle they had more desire.
With the EPL all but seen up I hope the players don’t continue this form & just limp out of the CL.
Whatever happens though our big one is the EPL so the day it becomes ours I’ll be one happy lad.

Sean I’m with you mate, I guess we can hope for another unbelievable Anfield atmosphere & the lads respond in kind. I’m not confident one bit about this Athletico game. Would be disappointing to go out here but I guess you can’t have it all, we’ve got the one we’ve been chasing for 3 decades & I’d have taken that in a heartbeat at the start of the season.
That said The FA cup has a real soft spot for me as it’s what got me into LFC as a kid so I’d really love for us to go well on that one.

Lads ( or lasses, or whatever you identify as, don’t want to offend anyone) I think we will struggle in the return leg v Athletico. As I said before teams like them and Napoli are very well coached and disciplined and I can see a tough night coming up. Anfield has produced some unbelievable nights over the years so hopefully the faithful will turn up the volume and the players will respond in kind but we aren’t exactly killing it at the moment so we need to up the ante if we are to get through this one.

Didn’t see anything at all of the game but I did say to a mate that I thought we’d struggle prior to the game. I think we struggle more v teams like Athletico and Napoli that are very well drilled and very disciplined as opposed to teams that come at you more like real etc. Hopefully we will see the Anfield effect in the return leg but I wouldn’t be surprised to see a draw.

HH, I don’t like city one bit mate, esp after their carrying on during that plane ride a year or so ago. That said you are correct in they are actually putting money into communities. I know they’ve set up a club here in Oz and they are actually making an effort to improve the game all round so credit where it’s due for that.
Like Sean I think money talks so regardless of their guilt or not I think they will get off with a minor punishment, if any at all.

Mak I agree with you mate, Hendo has improved massively and has made posters like me eat my words on him being a success at Liverpool. That said IMO there’s no way he’s POTY, the likes of VVD & Mane are well ahead for me as far as that goes.
Either way a great season so far from Hendo & pretty much all our lads, hence being so far ahead at this stage of the season. Long may it continue, starting with another 3 valuable points at Norwich.

Rightio being up front & honest I have only seen highlights of games this season & read a lot of articles etc. From what I’ve read & seen in highlights our much maligned captain has had a stellar season & our most recent game was probably his best ever for us.
I used to say Hendo doesn’t have the attributes to be the captain of a successful club, he doesn’t grab the game by the scruff or lead by example. Well from what I can gather he lead by example in our most recent game and has done so in more than a couple of games this season. A great assist as well as a goal & getting into the lads when the team looked a bit complacent, what more could you ask for. I get that was one game but from what I’m reading he has been very good all season. You can see the passion he has for our club & considering I think Klopp is a genius & he keeps Hendo as captain & a regular in the team I’m happy to say it appears I was well & truly wrong about Jordan HENDERSON.

G’day Mak, thanks for the thought mate but no need have regrets for me. I’m watching the highlights and enjoying seeing us skip away at the top & I’m more than happy to see us trade heavy metal footy for titles. My main reason for missing the games is fox sports losing the rights to the EPL & the minister for finance putting a stop to any more subscriptions for sport.
Rest assured I’ll be enjoying any success we have as much as the next red. Take care all.
